This little black turd arrived today. The bottom button is completely seized onto the tube, as is the insulator in the cap. Going to give it a bath in the ultrasonic to hopefully loosen up the parts.

ten chars of...... why?

ps put a little wd40 inside it, then put it in the fridge to loosen it up, used to do that with seized parts all the time when I was a tech

Why... did I buy this? Some people rescue dogs. I rescue Paps and provide them a better life.

no just, why? i read your post about it earlier, i meant why do it in the first place, then after seeing what a mess it was, why leave it like that instead of immediately stripping it? obviously hes used it a bunch since then judging by the amount of dried juice, lol

I know what you meant :) but on the positive side, just think how amazing this will look in one weeks time.

Is the button spring the same throughout the range of Paps buttons?

What a v2 dirty puppy is that ?
Yes, it's almost the same, v2.5 spring has a coil more to be more sensible due to the shorter throw, but the change is trivial.
I didn't see in the photos the plastic insulator of the switch, is it missing?

Perseas!
It was a powder coated PAPS that was in ECF classifieds that I passed and Armirite bought. He says the button was powdercoated together.

The guy that did that should be kicked forever in the nuts.

Now that looks like,,,,crap, personalizing your kit is one thing, but if it looks like,,,well crap why not change it back?, I got an 18800 tube in a deal, scratched, battered and nicked, threads are still good though, might look into getting some etchings on it, but the powder coating?, that's got to stuff with the connectivity methinks,

The plastic insulator is there on the switch but it is completely beat up. Should not effect functionality but it is painful to look at.

BTW, the switch is super-duper cool, a masterpiece:) It's really smart-touch... and that I'm able to keep it upright unlocked - makes my life much easier. Looks nice too, though I still prefer the 'knurls' over the lock-ring, makes it kinda retro IMHO.

*I'm eagerly awaiting the availability of the end caps, the switch system and the 510 head assembly. Want to marry them to my extra 18500 tube and have an additional standalone unit.

I'll send you a new v2 insulator my friend. Today I didn't find time to go to the post office, I'll go tomorrow.
