I always like to have plenty of backup when it comes to anything vape. I probably slack in the battery dept though. I'm always wondering when I should order another batch.
I keep four aw 18650's in rotation, recently picked up two of the sony vtc40's. Really liking them so far, they last me longer than the 1600mah aw's and seem to stay in the higher range of charge longer than the aw's.

so maybe it is just me, but I just built one of those newer "macro coils" at 3mm. I swear I cannot tell the difference between the micro, or really any of the coil sizes for that matter.

I will say it is easier to build ones that are bigger than the small mini's

Must see pics!

3mm, pretty big for being macro isn't it ? The current coil in my Origen is .8mm.

GVC Update: I can't put the stuff down! There is just something to it that I can't quite put into words. I vape another custard too that I always keep 120mL on board, but GVC has a special note to it on the exhale. A special twist to the vanilla. Its flippin dreamy!

Do you hear what I am saying!!!??:vapor:

weird.....

spicy eggs

That's right. I'll sit here with my dentures, my depends, and my walker and out race you. :)

Yeah! I'm right there with you Yankee...out earn you, too.

...oh, and Dig, no worries about airport security. Unaccompanied minors are given special treatment. And a toy plane.

GP-Spheroid : Qorax's Bongo Coil build!
~A pictorial on "split" Microcoil & S'n'C Cotton Yarn build on my fav Spheroid...

STEP-1: GETTING READY:

Disassembled the Spheroid and Cleaned up.

All parts dried and laid out, for work.

STEP-2: MAKING THE MICROCOIL:

Coil wrapped on a toothpick (my usual style). 28AWG Kanthal.

Coil split using two toothpicks. Brought in parallel and held tight for a while.

Coil heated and squeezed.

Unwrapped the last two rounds on each section. Done so to have a 'tighter' coil since the last one or two wraps are usually loose. Metered at 1.2Ω. Then placed on the Spheroid's deck using tweezers.

Bongo-coil fastened on the terminals. Note the coil is now sitting in line with the lower thumb nut (not the right place, see further).

Terminalled ends trimmed and test fired.

STEP-3: INSERTING THE WICK:

First pass thru. S'n'C yarn inserted in one coil using a doubled-over piece of Kanthal.

Under pass the yarn over the other side.

Second pass thru. The yarn is inserted into the next coil, from bottom. Resulting in a "U" wick.

Wick ends trimmed. Note the coil is now pulled-up to be in line with the higher thumb nut (better location). And there's a 1mm gap between the deck's air-channel and the wick (not enough, very tight draw, see further).

Wick cut to size. Maintaining around 15mm length each side. And juiced up.

STEP-4: RECHECKING AND SYSTEM ASSEMBLY:

Fired up the build

Bell section opened, fresh fluff inserted and tank filled.

Final look of the Wick & Coil. Note there's now a 2mm gap between the wick and the deck's air-channel (3mm between the coil and the air-channel). Offers better draw. Then parted the wick ends into a "V" before assembling the tank section.

STEP-5: TEST RESULTS
happy-128.gif

First test puff. Very tight draw. This is why / where I went back, opened the tank section and pulled-up the wick & coil for a 2mm gap.

Second test puff. Wow! Fogged up the house

Thus Qorax's Bongo-Coil ~ A build with some 'wow factor'!

BOTTOMLINE:
Built it yesterday, it's now 24-hrs and two tanks thru, vaping my 3rd, so can genuinely opine on the build. It vapes very well. Awesome VTF for a 1.2Ω coil with 5-wraps each section (total 10-wraps) on freshly charged 14500 AW-IMR. Replaced batteries between 2.5 to 3-hrs. Tested on 18500 as well, between 3.8V to 4.2V on my Provari, gr8 performance. Also tested against 18350 on my LUX and now rocking it with 18650 on my Paps-X... Bam! Purrfect! No wicking issues under any setup. And fortunately, no sagging of the wick as well. The "U" placement of the wick seems to work just right. Good & recommended setup

a) Avoided sub-ohm since I wanted to primarily use it on my Piccolos.
b) S'n'C cotton yarn must be pre-boiled. Pls see >my post< on its preparation.
c) What is a 'Bongo'?
d) If you use it pls refer it as Qorax's Bongo-Coil hereon.
e) Thanks for bearing with me, my friends!

They are best stored at around 40% charge for longer periods. For short storage do not worry about it but, I dont recommend full drain.

Remember recharging before the battery fully drains will extend the device lifespan dramatically.

Amps, devices, rotation, heat, extreme cold, etc. all play a part when the time comes.
I date my batteries when I put them in use on the outside with a Sharpie.
Watts really drives the battery usage more so than ohms, amps or anything else.

Good info here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-9-battery-basics-mods-imr-protected-icr.html
