Guys, when ever you have something stuck like the ring, instead of tools or dirty tape, all you need is a rubber band or two one on each side & this will give you grip & not ruin anything with marks or residue :)

This is a great tip and should work.
If not, As I have mentioned a set of(or at least one) soft grip pliers is a must in our tool kits such as these
Professional Soft Jaw Pliers - Soft Jaw Pipe Pliers - Amazon.com
These will set your free from nicks and scratching of attys and tubes

i gotta second the soft jaw pliers recommendation. i used to use the rubber band, freezer/hot water or oiling methods, but the soft jaw pliers make life a lot easier and saved me from what i thought were hopeless situations. i picked up a cheaper pair from Crescent off of Amazon and they work great. they can grip threads, too, which can be difficult to get a grip on. thanks again for the tip!

I was having the same issues with a number of atomizers and mods and after I scratched a plastic window and the base on a Term, I decided to acquire soft jaw pliers. I had seen the set Idaholandho proposed in an earlier post, but I opted for a cheaper tool to try it out first. It cost $11.75 with free delivery from Amazon - If the link doesn't go through, search for "Empire 28626 Plumbing Pliers with Soft Jaws"

They are on the cheap side, but they work nicely for mods and atomizers.

One thing I use and works great is a rubber strap wrench.
