Perseus, for some reason I'm getting a lot more battery play and misfires with my SS 18490 battery tube than with the Lux, any ideas? Same batteries, top cap, switch etc. it's very strange.

any obvious ideas?

What version of the GP telescopic centre post do you have?
The 18500 SS tube has the same length with the 18500 LUX one.

Are you using the top cap or the switch to change batteries?

If I use the top cap to change the battery the post moves as I am screwing the cap on and then I get the rattle. I use the switch to change batteries now and have not had an issue.

You can avoid that, by unscrewing the telescopic screw a bit more to compensate its movement during the closing of the top cap.
To change batteries from above, makes easier to apply the right tension to the battery and avoid to unfasten the switch during the lock-unlock operation.

I first tried the slotted top cap that came with it, then tried the lux top cap and battery that worked on the lux tube. It's very strange, I've adjusted and used as supposed to. It's almost unexplainable, but to get the battery tight makes the telescoping post get too loose. I do know that with the flat cap, came a thicker tele- screw that works better. I can provide pictures, but I figured you know your mods lol. I'd say a thicker screw is needed it seems but was fine without on the lux. Weird..

If you put the screw with the thicker head, you won't have any issue. The GP telescopic post v2.1 is different from the GP telescopic post v2.5. If you have 2 versions of the GP telescopic post, it is normal what is happening.

1.Reading that this is the last "run" of the current Piccolo ! What changes are being made ? Anyone Know .....
2.Also what are the changes with the Paps X ?

1. The Piccolo's Switch Mechanism is being revamped. Something akin to the latest Paps switches (more closer to the Paps-X line, but in 17mm). It'd be available in it's new avatar sometime after Sep-2013.

2. The Paps-X is GP's first "sectional" Mod. I'd also be tad wider in girth at 23mm. And it's Switch Mechanism, though similar in function to the current v2.5 series, shall have a modification uplift.

Question is, should one get the Lux or wait a few days for the X if you can only get one of them? Not too many pictures, info on the X...

I am soon to be a GP Paps 2.5 SS owner :) cant wait!!!

Me too! Congrats buddy!

I am so pumped - this is my first mech mod. I decided to hold off on the Spheroid this time (pesky budget) and just get the SS PAPS. I have plenty of RBAs to top it so I should be ok.:D

yikes, I went in to get a Spheroid, by the time i hit checkout, i had a piccolo 3.1 in-cart too.

the interwebs make it entirely too easy to impulse shop. being too tired to calculate the conversion from Euro to USD also greys the pain/spending threshold.

perseas, damn|thank you. :p

dreading|looking forward to DHL coming by my desk, hopefully this week ;)
