Any specific recommendation?

Sent from a happy vaper.

I have the SharperTek XPS180-6L, which heats the solution to over 75 deg Celsius (and everywhere inbetween) and while it has some nice features like auto temp, timer, sweep and degas, I'm not entirely sure it is worth the additional cost.

I suggest you find one with a heating function and a frequency higher than 40Khz. Harbor freight makes a cheap one but I cannot attest to its reliability.

It is suppossed to have a bit of play as it allows the user to lock and unlock the switch with a flick or two of a finger. I obviously do not use the lock as much with the new 2.5 switch. I try and remember to use it as when I switch to my out of the home PAP's I use the older switches and need to remember to lock them as well.

Not sure I follow... how does allowing the lock ring to wiggle make it easier to lock/unlock?

The lock-ring doesn't wriggle, at all. Stays perfectly in plane.
It's just buttery smooth to spin. Totally a wonderful design.

U might have a QC issue there... pls contact Perseas.

Mine has a little wiggle when it's between locked and unlocked... It's rock solid when it's fully in one position or the other.
I think what Idaho is saying (not trying to speak out of turn) is that if the lock ring had the same tight tolerances that exist between cap/switch and the body, it wouldn't be as easy to lock and unlock with the swipe of a pinky. In fact, it would also result in you unscrewing the bottom cap when trying to lock it.

If the lock ring wobbles when it fully locked or unlocked, then yes, you probably have a problem.

I only noticed it because the lock ring is starting to get kinda 'crunchy'... dunno how else to put it. When it screws into the unlocked position, I can feel a bit of a crunch.. I thought maybe the threads were dirty, but nothing's there, but I did see a little nick in the thread.. so I was wondering if that could be caused by loose threading.

If I hold it straight up/down, the ring doesn't catch.. if it's on an angle, it seems to catch more.

Anyway, I shot a quick vid to show the wiggle, are they all like this?

hmm.. video embed isn't working. lux lock ring - YouTube

No freakin' way... mine doesn't move a bit in the vertical axis.
