Am I correct in thinking that the **only** way to get the phillips screws for the spheroid base is to replace the whole base? Or is there a ver 2 -> ver 3 upgrade kit? $73 USD to replace the base seems a big bite when I paid $110 USD for the whole thing? Hopefully I'm asking this right?

No, wait for the replacement kit for the v3. You won't have to buy the whole base. P also mentioned the type of screws used so you can also just order the screws somewhere online.

Has P mentioned an ETA/cost for the kit and what is/will be included?

So to clarify further, what I would like to do is replace the thumb nuts with screws on my Spheroid are parts available to do this for reasonable cost?

If you have a Spheroid v2, you can upgrade with http://www.vapourart.com/en/product/gp-spheroid-replacement-kit-version-25 The real cost is not the Philips screws, but the tiny posts.

The GP Spheroid Replacement Kit v3 is compatible only with Spheroid v3.

They are SS Philips screws, M2x3 mm length and the posts are M2 for the positive post and M3 for the negative post of Heron v1.5 and Spheroid v3.
Spheroid v2 uses M2x3 mm length SS Philips screws and both the posts are M2.

The screws work for both, but not the posts.

Don't buy them for the posts, they are not compatible with Heron or Spheroid v3, only with Spheroid v2. He forgot to update the product's description, which is http://www.vapourart.com/en/product/gp-spheroid-replacement-kit-version-25

A GP Spheroid replacement kit v3 is coming soon.

If you're missing a screw, I'm willing to bet you would have luck finding M2x3mm screws at your local hardware store and if not, most certainly online. I used to buy all kinds of odd screw sizes at my local ACE hardware

Edit:

I believe I've done gone and misread what was being asked if in fact they meant upgrading a V2 spheroid

Good morning :)

I forgot to mention that the winners of the Secret Santa Contest will receive 2 X rings, a brushed and a polished one.

So generous! Secret Santa rocks!!

I was actually going to see if I could request a brushed one in the email, but I didn't want to be a picky brat or "bite the hand that feeds" so-to-speak considering it was a gift lol. So this is great news!!

Thank you Secret Santa, Perseas, VapourArt crew, and GPeeps!! :D

So, in doing quick search on those screws for the heron posts, I see different measurements. m2-0.4x? and m3-0.5x? Provided I'm looking at this correctly, does anybody know the exact measurements? threading, length...I got the ss and phillips part lol...

Your looking for M2x3mm screws. Some places will also list the pitch, which is the 0.4. Here is a good source.

I know it's July, but since we just had a visit from the Summer Secret Santa, let me tell a quick Santa story...

My Hubby always looked young for his age. He knew it, and he liked it! Then, very suddenly, he aged a bit. Places we would go, we would hear children asking their Moms, "Is that Santa?". Some would walk right up and ask him. At first, my Hubby's reaction was not good. Really not good! Eventually, he learned to embrace it. And, at times, he played it up and had a little fun with it. I was a great deal younger than Hubby. When he would tell the kids that I was Mrs. Clause, the looks on their faces would be like 'Hugh?'. :)

So, the kids got their first glimpse of what having an affair looked like with Santa cheating on Mrs. Clause.
