To all of the GP family, Have A Great Weekend!

Cucco, thank you for the Eagle-cam update and I hope that you are on the mend these days. Best wishes and prayers!

YES! Cucco, thank you for pointing me to the Eagle cam. I've thoroughly enjoyed all of the time I spent watching E6 and family. I grew up in Missouri and southern Cali and never got to see an eagle ever. Even the 10 years I spent working for the US Forest Service on the Eldorado National Forest and I never got a chance to see an eagle. Fortunately there are some eagles close by here in Oregon but they are at a distance so not easy to see. But watching the baby mature to the fledge stage was pretty exciting.

Well the new to me X reassured me that this mod is THE BEST and by far my favorite. I cleaned up the switch and this little beauty is a thing of beauty. I'm over the top happy with my pair of X's.

Now if I can figure out what I am doing wrong with my Heron I will be a happy boy. I hope that this doesn't sound like something X-rated but my wick keeps going dry even if I have plenty of juice in the fluff. I will get it figured out sooner or later. I just need to play with my wick and the fluff a bit more.:)

    Hey J,

For me the Heron works great with 2.5 to 3 inches of fluff with 50/50 juices. I choose to use the topper with cotton or KGD for wicking. You are absolutely correct with playing, playing makes perfect and we all have our own tastes,

One of my most memorable moments in life...

Our corporate office building, was on a good bit of acreage. On the backside, there was a waterway. There was also some marshland. The property was a very popular place for bald eagles. We had many nests. My husband and I spent many hours, walking the property, and watching the eagles. Incredible beauty.. Incredible grace.. The eagles were very comfortable with our presence. There were times, they actually landed, and briefly rode atop heavy equipment my husband would be operating. One day, I took a break from my work, and took a walk out the backside of our office building. That day, an eagle started circling, and passing by me extremely close. Close enough, I thought he could possibly bump me with his wings. It was an incredible sight, to see him so close. What beauty! Nature's most perfect accomplishment of flight! However, it was also bit daunting. I was not quite sure of his intentions. He was huge! :) On his last pass, he landed right beside me. He was sitting close enough, I could have reached out and touched him. I looked at him. He looked at me. He sat there for a while, and then flew away. I felt the rush of air from his wings, as he took off. Wow! I will never forget that moment. It was one of those moments, that touches your heart. What a privilege, for him to have shared that moment with me. I felt honored. :)

I use 50/50 juices...so maybe I have too much fluff? The coil runs dry after about 3-4 draws. I let it set for a few minutes then it's ready to go.

I have been using a 125mm length of v2 fluff. It's easier to make is shorter than longer so I will snip some off. I am using a 1.5mm diameter coil (1.2ohms) with KGD. I was thinking that my coil/wick might be too small so I was planning on going up to maybe a 2mm diameter coil but I'll adjust the fluff first before I make changes to the coil/wick setup that I have.

The coil/wick setup could be a possible issue. I build 2mm ID coils and it wicks well.

    Keep us informed J.

Was hoping to get a lil help from my last post.

Bought a GP X1.5 second hand and it didn't come with any spares.

Heres a pic of it with a Atty sitting on top. Theres about a millimeter gap between atty and topcap. Theres also a millimeter gap between the tubes on the actual mod.

Think my fix would be to purchase a spare GPin from Vapourart as maybe the shorter pin on top and a shorter contact pin on bottom might fix it...

Can anyone chime in and give me a hand?

    Hi Em,

There shouldn't be any gap/s between the tube sections. You can 'see' the hairline - but no gaps, each section sits flush over the other.

The older AFC ring used to create a 'gap' either at the top end or the bottom of it. That is to say, once you attached your atty the AFC ring under it remained a tad short (around a mm). The ring could be moved upwards and made flush at the top ends - but then the gap would be at the bottom. Either way there was a gap. But, with the new ring (non-AFC) that issue ceased to exist.

A GPin replacement might not solve your issue if the 510 of your atty doesn't thread completely down into the 510 well of the X. B'coz the GPin is 'self adjusting' and is there exactly for that ~ to compress or extend based on the length of the atty's 510. Have you tried a few other attys and checked if the gap still persists?

    Pls let us know.

    Thanks Qorax.

The mod threads fine. When I stick an AWR battery in it, that's when it doesn't thread down all the way. That mm gap right under the topcap is after my forcing the mod together.

The gpin is the self adjusting pin. Pulled it apart and cleaned it out. Unfortunately I don't have any of the spares to change the length of the pins but it seems that I would need shorter pins on both top and bottom.

The atty seems to thread down all the way with no problem when there is no battery...

Maybe just a shorter pin on the bottom will do it.

The X comes stock with the short(er) GPin. There's longer bottom pin/s in the spares bag. Since yours is obtained from another user s/he might have switched those pins.

Nonetheless, the stock GPin (shorter) is fit for AW IMRs. It's only when using some of the 'flat top' batteries that we'd need the long(er) GPin, Since you're using AWs prolly that's the long pin getting seriously pushed upwards. So yes, a shorter GPin might be your saviour.

Tho in my case I have found no difference in the atty end while using short or long GPins. The difference was only at the batt end.
