Hi guy's, any idea why my spheroid button is becoming quite hot after a bit of use? I've owned it now for about 10 months and recently added the ultem tank, which is great. I have taken it apart and cleaned it, changed the bottom ring and recoiled it many times but after a few moments use the button on the battery tube gets very hot! Cheers in advance, Ronan

Hi buddy :)

What is the resistance value of your coils?

Thanks for the fast response mate, I've got the hibrid so can't check the resistance, I've just used qorax's vid as a guide! I think I may need to purchase the non hybrid base so I can check! Strange tho as its been faultless so far!

You only need a cheap multimeter to ensure your safety, I strongly recommend to buy one. Take apart everything and clean them thoroughly. The GPin needs at least a monthly maintenance if you use the Piccoloid every day. Check please, if there is any wee wire trapped in the posts, it has happened to me in the past and it drove me crazy, until I found it after a meticulous inspection with a magnifying glass of every bit there :)

If your build doesn't change and you didn't get more sloppy with this build, I'd put my money on testing the button down and cleaning it. I've had a few cases of going longer than normal (paps and x also fit this rule). Cleaning had solved that problem each and every time. :)

They are resilient devices, more tolerant to not cleaning than most, but eventually even they need the spa treatment.

Is it possible to check the resistance with the hybrid base? Can't screw it in to anything surely? I've stripped it down half a dozen times and just soaked it all in vodka! I'll do it again tomorrow and double check there is no stray wire bits! My eyes aren't what they where!

You really need a local hardware store at min to get a multimeter. Then the neg lead goes to outer thread and pos to gpin.

You need to dismantle everything according the video guide references:
GP Spheroid v4 - 510/GPin adapter
GP Piccoloid reference

And as Yankee said you have to use a multimeter, it is a few seconds job to isolate a resistance issue and protect you and people around from a potential harmful incident. You measure the resistance as posted above or by placing the probes onto the negative and positive post respectively. Take a look at the switch and the coating of your battery, try with a different battery as well.

Will do, haven't been able to unscrew the brass screw from the button while cleaning! Might be that then! I'll get to it!

GP Fork. Lift the delrin with silver button in it. It'll expose the screw.

When assembling, ALWAYS make sure everything is DRY.

Yankee is very fast! Afterwards use a screwdriver that has the same width with the slot, not a thinner one. Otherwise you risk to deform the lips of the slot, raising them upwards and creating a point contact.

When you tighten the negative screw of the switch ALWAYS use the GP Fork as a lever to ensure the switch is assembled tightly as per video instructions (see links above).

Thanks again for the kind words and your trust to our company!

Send an email to info@vapourart.com regarding your request for an AFC ring with different finish if you like, but the fit won't be seamless, because it will have been polished separately. By giving emphasis to precision machining and seamless integration of the different parts, we limit our options to offer parts with different finish after the sale of the main product. For that reason there is an option for custom finish prior the order. Nevertheless, for those who are handy with tools we recommend the GP Polisher & Brusher adapter (PnB) for custom finish.

Black PEI might be a second option in colours for the GP Dripper, we'll see.

x2 for black PEI as an option :)
