LOL! I built mine about 5 years ago too. It wasn't until the last year or so that I had ever heard them be called a puck! But yeah, you're right... they work like a charm and there just isn't much that can go wrong with them. I'll probably keep it forever just for sentimental reasons, but I've definitely retired that one. Awesome that you ran on those too! You probably know exactly how many times I've been asked "are you sure that's safe?" ;)
yup.....but because I built it I know that nothing could go wrong that couldn't be fixed....I also asked them if they carry a flashlight in their pocket....it's as safe......

Exactly. I even removed the crappy little wires that were pre-installed from Radio Shak and used some heavier gauge 1500V wire that we use at work... I was a little worried about burning through the thin insulation on the original wires. That thing has been dropped, sat on, and just generally abused... but it never stopped working and never once gave me a single problem.

Damn, now I might have to go dig out some old cartos and fire it up for 'old time's sake'! :D

YAY!! I mixed up a few new juices last night and got to experience the flavor change of the ceramic coils. I gotta say that I'm pretty impressed with it. Still not quite as handy as testing with an RDA and rayon wicks, but not bad at all. I finished the tank of my ADV while I was mixing. Vaped the tank until just before the dry hit (you can kinda tell if you're careful and paying attention).

Then, instead of filling the tank with the new flavor, I just dripped into the juice holes and dropped two drops into the top of the ceramic and put everything back together... Tasted a slight mix of both juices for the first puff, but the second puff was all new juice! Vaped until that was gone, then tested my second mixture... same thing, same results! Filled the tank with the second juice and am vaping it still. Can't wait to finish this 30mL test and get into the other bottle.

Just to satisfy any latent curiosity, my ADV is a peaches and cream DIY mixture. I then tested one that I'm calling Aphrodite's Kiss (it's pears and honey with a touch of vanilla and cream to round things out). Right now I'm vaping one that I'm calling a-ni u-no-le (that's Cherokee for "strawberry air'), it's kind of a strawberry cotton candy that I think needs a bit of work still...

I think that the flavor profiles that come through on the cCell is definitely going to help my DIY game... at least I hope it will! ;)

I just did one tank each of probably a dozen flavors...first few puffs were a mix, then 2nd flavor took over. I love that!

Yep! I'd actually rank it right up there with rayon for flavor changes... and for me, that's saying a LOT! :w00t:

LOL....That's what I did....those tiny wires probably wouldn't have held up for very long....I picked up some colored heavy gauge wire(I like different colors) and changed it first thing while pulling apart the battery box.........I still use mine sometimes.... with the Unitank (1.8 coil).....it's powerful enough to run it for 8-10 hours still.....

Yep, I stayed with red/black, but definitely upped the quality! ;)
That's pretty good, but I went with the AA instead of AAA for longer battery life. I'll have to dig mine out of the drawer and grab some pics... with the AA and ~2 ohm coils I could get 3-4 days before a battery change.

I made 1 AA mod for emergency back up.....mostly because they are easier to find....but I needed the smaller size with the AAA..1000 Mah only...I do have small hands.....
So this is Target tank on my Freakshow mini is really a treat.....I do have the Reliant with it's Phazer tank and an ego one tank for the Cloupor.....but they don't do as well.....it has to be the ceramic coil....

Yeah, the AA mod was a little large... I made do with it, though. ;)
Still running the Target kit with my diy honey&pear mix right now... it needs some work. Less honey, more pear, more sweetener (I think). Not sure what to do with the strawberry/cotton candy one... it's just not right. Other than that, I'm running a Praxis/Derringer mech set-up and a Corsair/Hobo mech set-up. Oh! and my Invader Mini/Silver Play V2 with my adv peaches&cream... the Target is getting most of my love though!

Nope, just laid off. We get to draw a little bit of their unemployment, though. Which one did you work for? UP for me.
I was a medical transcriptionist. I WISH I was working for the railroad, lol! My job was a union job, though, so it hurt to lose it, and I really did enjoy what I did, but apparently accuracy in our medical records is just not a top priority right now.

Oh, don't even get me started. My dad is a truck driver... he does work for a company, but the health benefits aren't all that great. He used to work on the oil rigs years ago (80s through early 90s)... my mom actually cringed when I told her that I was going to work here. She hated those days of insecurity... I knew what I was getting into, though and had a good electronics background from the Navy. So, instead of going to the rigs, I'm in a manufacturing plant. Then I moved to a small but crucial department and made it a point to learn every aspect of the job. Now, they've cut us down to the bare minimum and the few of us that are left are too valuable for them to lose. There are literally only two of us here that can do the job now... but I know exactly what you mean about the scary insurance transitions. When I got out of the Navy I was trying to find a good job with good benefits because my wife needed the insurance even more than we needed the paycheck... at one point I was paying $700 a month premiums and they didn't cover 'squat'... but I had to keep paying it because if I dropped it then she'd have ended up falling into the pre-existing condition clause (at least ObamaCare ended that clause! And that's about the only positive thing I have to say about it.). I've been fortunate enough to be pretty healthy most of my life... in spite of the decisions I've made... but I'll be 40 soon and I know it's just a matter of time before age and health issues catch up with me. I'm very happy to hear that your husband has found a better opportunity and isn't actually out in the field... better stability and probably a lot safer as well. As far as the country goes... yeah, we've got the best healthcare in the world... and the worst management of it... go figure.
We are actually #40 down the list of good healthcare worldwide! Can you believe that?! I was shocked and saddened to learn that about our country. There's no excuse for it. We can do better. A LOT better.

That's great about your job! It's always nice to be indipsensable, and when you can utilize the skills you learned in service (Thank you for serving, by the way!!!) it's even better! I am so happy my husband is local now. I just got our medical cards in the mail on Saturday and the benefits are incredible. I told him he is not allowed to quit this job. It's better than the last one he had in the oil fields!! I'm bummed because I got him all set up with a nice little vape because smoking and propane don't mix well. :D Turns out he can't even vape while on the job, so I get to test drive the new insurance on some alternative smoking cessation products. I am very much hoping he will get completely off the stinkies, and if he has trouble transitioning he can vape while he is off work. I'm making him some appointments this morning and I will make sure his doctors know to drive the point home to him when he is in there, lol. Now that he's home I want him around for a good long while!

Those juices sound delicious!! I totally agree that the ceramic coils will help with DIY, especially the complex flavors. It's so much easier to tell when you need just a touch of this or that because all of the nuances come through so beautifully. I am mixing up a couple of recipes today and I have an ultrasonic cleaner coming on Wednesday so I will be able to rapid steep them. My new batch of cCells will be here TODAY so I get to play around with my DIYs and fine tune them this week. It's going to be a yummy week! :)

Wow! I had no idea that we were that far down the list! What happened to the days where we were up near the top?!? You're absolutely right, there is no excuse for it. We NEED to do better!

Awww... thanks hun! The only other person in my family who ever served was my grandfather (my dad's dad). He was in the Army back in the day. He and my dad are the ones who taught me everything I know about hunting (mom's dad taught me everything about fishing, lol). I miss him terribly and remember our times in the woods very fondly. It was because of him that I wanted to enlist... kinda wanted to make him proud even though he was gone. He passed away when I was almost 16. Dad's mom was super happy when I went in and gave me the biggest hug ever... she cried a little when she told me how proud grandpa would be.

Ugh! Hubby can't vape at work? That sucks! Super glad that the insurance is awesome though! Hopefully the doctor will be convincing enough and will be able to get him the help he needs to quit. I know exactly what you mean. My wife has been really supportive about my vaping for the same reason. When I was in the Navy, I was gone a lot as well. Now that I'm home every night my wife wanted me to try to stay healthy. So I switched to vaping around 6 years ago and have never looked back. Even better, she has no problems with me vaping in the house, so I don't have to pause the TV to go out for a smoke! So, yeah... get him off the stinkies and he can vape to his heart's content while he's at home!

Meh... they still need some work. The honey & pear juice needs less honey for sure... it's over powering everything else. And the strawberry cotton candy... it's just off... not at all what I'm shooting for. I think maybe I need a different strawberry concentrate. Once I get them worked out, I'll get ya the recipe and you can try them out... I just don't want to ruin your tongue with the abomination that it currently is.

What an amazing tribute to your grandpa! I was an Air Force brat and none of us (2 siblings and I) served, but my son is a Marine, my niece served in the Army and my daughter's fiance is also ex-Army. Red, white and blue run deep in my family!

Yes, I was horrified to find that we are failing so miserably with healthcare in our country. I wasn't surprised, but it made me very sad. It didn't used to be this way. I remember the days when insurance covered everything! Now you almost have to have dual insurance to cover a family. My husband and I both had everyone in the family covered under both of our insurance plans until recently. Now I am just happy to be off of Obamacare, lol! We had that for 4 months last year, paying $416 a month for insurance we couldn't possibly afford to use ($5200 deductible EACH!!!) so this new insurance is a real blessing. I already have an appointment for follow for a surgery I had last April (on Thursday. Woot!) that is 4 months overdue. There's no reason whatsoever that we are being held hostage by insurance companies except for extreme greed. Makes me sick.

I would love to try those recipes when you get them honed! I got 2 liters of 100 mg nic base last year (because vapeocalypse!!) so I am having fun trying new things. I only vape 3 mg and I may or may not have overshot the concentration of nic base, so I am going through the 12 mg premixed base I had on hand to test the waters. It's a lot easier to calculate a 3 mg juice from 12 mg base than it is from 100 mg, lol. I have a favorite peanut butter/banana combo I got from a vape shop in another state last year that I am trying to recreate and I have just enough left to run through a ceramic coil to try and pull out the subtle undertones. I am sure I will have quite a few epic fails myself before I get there, but it's fun trying! :)

You crack me up....GO SEE THE DOCTORS...all of them!!!!! When I start my DIY, going for the 100mg base. Cause of my ADD, remembering just 1ml per bottle will be easier for me, I think...lmaooooo

Thank you, I thought so, myself. Now if I could just get out of the damn city and back out to the woods to live a nice quiet life, all would be perfect. I'm still a country boy at heart. :)
Awesome to hear about all the people in your family who are/were in the military. It's kinda funny that when you're enlisted, there's this sort of rivalry about which branch is better... but when it all comes down to it we look at each other as if we are brothers/sisters in some way. There's a pretty big rivalry between Army and Navy (especially football), but my best friend is ex-Army. Lol... and I couldn't count the times I've had my .... kicked by a Marine. But once, we were in a port overseas and got into a barfight... I stood back to back with one of the Marines from the ship and we made sure that both of us walked out of that bar together. We had some good times in that port!

Holy Crap on a Cracker!!! $5200 EACH?!? That's insane! I can see why you'd put off the follow-up. Thank the heavens that you've got the insurance to get that taken care of now. I've never been able to be double covered. My wife has been unable to work for a long time now and if it weren't for the awesome benefits we have, I don't know what we'd do. From the sounds of it, Obamacare sure as hell isn't an option! Sheesh... I'd have to donate a kidney twice a year just to cover her co-pays!

No, no, you're overthinking it. If you want 3mg nic from a 100mg base, all you have to do is make your nic be 3% of your total mix. I mix mine at 6mg from 100mg base all the time like that. Basically, if you're making a 30mL batch and you want 3mg nic then you'd use 0.9mL nic (0.3mL per 10mL batch).
Anyway, I'll definitely get you the recipes once they get sorted out. I'm sure you'll get the peanut butter/banana one figured out with the cCells! These things are ridiculous at how well they bring out all of the nuances! Lucky that you still had a bit left when you get the ceramic coils!
And now I want peanut butter! I've got some, I just need to figure out what to mix it with... maybe I'll play a bit tonight and see what I come up with... thanks for bringing that to mind! ;)

Ooooh the rivalry! For us it was Army/Air Force because my dad's last station was McChord, which used to be right next to Ft. Lewis, but now they are Joint Base Lewis McChord. I was so used to being around both branches I could tell which branch a plain-clothed GI was in in a matter of seconds, lol. My son's best buddy is in the Navy and they are both in Okinawa so they get to hang out some. I love that. They graduated high school together and then went backpacking around Europe that summer before my son went off to boot camp that winter, then his buddy enilsted the following spring. They are still equal rank, though, because my son spent a year and a half at the DLI so his buddy had a chance to get caught up in rank. :)

I finally got a juice calculator that I can understand so I am not as afraid of the high nic base anymore, but still. It's 100 mg!! I was buying my nic base premixed from MBV at 12 mg and cutting it in half but now I only need 1/4 of that so those 8 oz bottles are lasting a long time. I probably won't have to break out the 100 mg stuff for a while. the thought of breaking it down into lower concentrations in bottles and storing it all in the freezer makes me tired, so it's still in the box it came in. :D Today, though, I get to mix up a batch of king cake and a delicious apple muffin recipe I got, so it's a good day!
