For about 20 years I had been smoking 1+ pack a day of 'regular' strength Nat Sherman or American Spirits.

On December 30th my first PV arrived. At the time I had 6 cigarettes left in my last pack. I had one or two 'analogs' over the next few days upon awakening, but after a few puffs stubbed them out in disgust. After two weeks of vaping I finally threw away the remainder of the pack, with not even a hint of regret.

I've had no analogs since then and have been vaping for about 2 months. I was highly motivated to quit smoking after spending dozens of hours of research, mostly on ECF but also Medline, material safety data sheets and various vendors.

Just wondering how many people have completely quit smoking, for how long, and how they feel in comparison.
I have smoked for about 12 years and have cut back from a pack a day to 8 cigs a day, so i think with the ecig I can stop completely, but my husband smokes alot and has a really bad smoker's cough, so I'm hoping if he can quit on these.
I have dropped the ash producers, love the vaper.

Smoked a pack+ a day until a month ago and was able to quit in a day after trying e-cigs! I know not everyone will have it quite so easy, but I'm glad it was.

My mom has been smoking for over 30 (40?) years and has started e-cigs but not totally quit analogues yet. I have to say I think when you have another analogue smoker around you, it's harder to drop them completely as easily.

After several weeks of e-cig only I was around an analogue smoker again and was tempted to try (a small craving plus just curiosity) but I didn't b/c I remembered how my head spun my first analogue after 24 hrs of e-cig only use.

Good luck! :D

I just quit using the e-cig, it wasn't an easy transition though. My first e-cig was the smoking everywhere brand, it was overpriced and underperforming so my first impression was that these things were a complete joke.. I had pretty much given up on them, until I found this forum because there was a lingering interest that just had to be satisfied..see I'm a vocalist and I've always figured..and been told that I could sing better if I didn't smoke..my nicotine addiction didn't want to believe me and every time I tried to quit..I repelled back into smoking full force and speed at a higher rate than before. So I found this forum and started reading about different brands etc.. I ended up buying from Blucigs..another disapointment, albeit better than smoking everywhere the Blu batteries suck and their carts are TINY and I went through all 25 in about 1 week... so it was disappointing to think that I would actually spend MORE on my habit with e-cigs if I went with blu... ALAS I finally started absorbing some of this forum (rather than just scanning) and I finally got a nice mod with great battery life and a 510 atomizer, I was finally able to recreate for myself the heavy smoking I was used to, also I started using refills/ejuice rather than buying stock carts so the cost was covered by a mile..and now I'm analog free for 1 month, I have no need/desire to smoke a regular old tobacco cigarette, I will probably use my e-cig for quite a while because I actually enjoy smoking..thats never been the issue. I feel about 10 times better as far as health is concerned. So yea.. just keep trying at it..find what you like and dislike don't give up.

Smoke free since fall of '07. Got my wife onto vaping in spring of '09. Neither of us have had a regular smoke since we started vaping. She had 2 or 3 clove ciggies a day for about a week when she first started vaping... but we got her some clove juice and then onto 555 and no turning back! :)

But I have to admit, I acutally enjoy vaping - and don't really see me quitting anytime soon. My wife vapes a lot less than I do, but she always smoked a lot less than I did too. I was a two pack a day (or more on bad days) smoker for 18 years.

I now purchase mailny 555 at 24 mg - cut it in half to 12mg with VG - and I am a happy vaper. I've suffered no ill side-effects that I am aware of. My epilepsy has actually improved since I quit the analogs. Less meds now. And the lack of smokers cough, smelly house, clothes and car are a big bonus. :D

Take care,
- Hap

I can finally say I'm off the analogs, 5 days now :) I began with E-cigs 6 weeks ago. I had 2 cartons of analogs in the house when my e-cigs arrived. I smoked them all up while smoking e-cigs. I just cut back each day. Finally when my last pack ran out, I just haven't bought another. I smoked for 35 years, 1 1/2 packs a day.

I think it's a journey. You need to find the right device, the right flavors..all that makes it easier once you do. I admit, I've spent alot of money initally finding what works for me, but I know the money will be less eventually and I believe the health benefits are worth it.

I hope in the future to cut back on my nicotine levels. Right now, I am enjoying NOT smoking analogs and taking it one step at a time.

I know this is a really old post but would you mind telling me how you are doing on smoking dead plants at this point. If you are what do you think is not working for you. What do you think is your "serious emotional attachment". I have not gotten into the e-cig thing yet and wondered what I should realistically expect.

Thanks,

Roger

I've been vaping for a month and have only been analog free for a little less than a week. I have to say, it wasn't easy for me. For me it was like giving up one habit and picking up another to replace it. I thought it would be easy, but it was like I had a serious emotional attachment to analogs. It took a lot of will power. I can say that after I got my first PV I did go from smoking a pack and a half a day to smoking about half a pack a day so that was awesome. I think the key is (besides willpower) to find an ecig that you absolutely love and do everything to can to get the best possible performance out of it. If your ecig isn't performing to your liking try checking out the tips and tricks forum and the modification forum.
