I was a pack a day smoker for 20+ yrs, quit smoking regular cigs 2 days after I got my first vaporizer. Havent had a cigarette since 6/10 this year. I knew I was done when I recently found half a pack of smokes in my winter coat and threw them away without even thinking about it. Before vaping, I would have smoked them right away, hands shaking thinking about the nic fix I would soon enjoy....even if they were a year old and very stale. I still think about analogs now and then, not because I enjoy or miss it, just because its something I did very religiously for over 20 yrs. A fresh drip on fully charged batteries, and I immediately stop thinking about a regular cig.

Durring the course of becoming familiar with vaping, i did discover I needed 5volts to completely curb cravings, 3.7v just wasnt cutting it and I was vaping almost constantly. Not nearly as bad as cravings as if I was cold turkey quitting or even on the patch, but still was a very dominant thought in my head. Since I switched over to 5 volts, I take a few puffs every hour or so and am satisfied.Good luck!

I got my Joye 510 in the mail this past Tuesday morning. I still had almost a whole pack of cigs so I finished them up on Tuesday and Wednesday while breaking in the 510. Last night just before midnight I finished my last cig. I now have over 25 hours without a cigarette and no plans to look back. I know it has only been a day, but this has been the easiest first day of quitting in all of the attempts I've made so far. We'll see how it's going in a few more days when the withdrawals really kick in, but I'm pretty confident so far.

I smoked about a pack a day for the past 20+ years and tried everything you can think of to quit (patch, gum, zyban, chantix, hypnotherapy, etc...) with no real success. I think this product was exactly what I've been looking for and it is a true blessing to find both it and these forums. Thank you all for all the insight you've given me as I trolled around here for the past few weeks.

I used to smoke 1 pack a day for the last 15 years until one day decided to give it a go on ecigs

first was a smoke stik (good start but not exactly what I needed)
then found the 510's and wow thats what I needed in order for me to succeed in quitting smoking. I had tried all patches, gums and nothing else worked

well I'm proud to say I have been vaping since Feb 2009 without touching a analog

 RY4 and 510 for the win!!!

well, here's a twist...I'm just about ready to quit e-cigs. I've been going places without my e-cig just to see how it would be and yestereday I was away from my e-cig for hours driving and running around and I wasn't freaked out! I really see a time, soon, when I won't rely on e-cigs at all.....I haven't smoked cigarettes for 200 plus days and have had no cravings....I'm shooting for sometime in early 2010 to walk away from all of it...

Good luck, that's my goal as well, to be rid of any sort of addiction. Nicotine is really the only one I have left.

I seem to have quit, although that really wasn't my goal. I didn't have a goal. I tried my first e-cig out of curiosity. Also, I don't work well under force. I wasn't going to force fake goals on myself that I might not reach. I was a 2-1/2 to 3 pack a day smoker. Been smoking for 45 years.

For about the first month of vaping, I still smoked about 6 or so a day. The hard part for me was vaping while driving. I kept a log of the times I smoked, but again, I had no real goal.

Before I knew it, I wasn't keeping track anymore because I was down to 1 or 2 a day. Since my log is incomplete, I would guess it's been 2 weeks since I've had a cigarette. I started vaping around the middle of October.

I won't throw my cigarettes away. They are like a security blanket in case of massive, world-wide power failure or whatever evils that lurk within our government. I have 2 packs left. I have a feeling if I did away with them, I would have a panic attack.

Good luck to you ! I still have a pack of cigarettes i keep in my pantry, just in case...but so far, I havent even wanted to take one. Its been 6 weeks since i quit them , the security blanket is fading and I honestly think i probably could just throw that pack away and not worry about it one bit. You will get there...keep up the good work !!

I'm now approaching two smoke-free months. It's very hard to believe when I actually think about it, because I was a very hard-core smoker of at least a pack a day for 37+ years. No quitting methods ever worked for more than a week or so. (I did quit for a year once, cold turkey, but that was 25 years ago.)

I have no plans to quit vaping but I notice that I don't panic anymore about going to non-smoking venues, even when I have no plans to vape. I'm not sure what that means. Maybe I will be able to wean myself off vaping at some point?

I had a smoking relative visit for Thanksgiving and I had absolutely no problem sitting around with her, drinking wine, playing cards, and chatting for hours. Her smoking didn't bother me at all and I wasn't tempted to smoke. A few months ago, the very idea would have been unthinkable.

I was a 2 plus pack a day smoker. Tried the patch, nic gum, chantix, and nic inhalers with limited mixed results. Bought an off brand e-cig at the fair and gave it a go. Did not really work that well. Found this forum and did some reading. With the help of some really nice people on this site and one of the site sponsor vendors (Rob at Altsmoke) who took the time to explain some things to me and guide me to good products, I am now cigarette free. Using a yeti 510 cig and mostly a silver bullet mod with a 510 atomizer . My honest advice to anyone that is giving up cigarettes is to get a "quality" vaping device because it makes a difference. Read a little as you will find that there are many good personal vaporizers out there along with a few fly by night losers. You owe it to yourself to give vaping an honest effort.

Thanks. I don't want a cig at all. I'm just afraid if I don't have any in the house, I'll want one.

I rescue dogs, too.

Just wondering how many people have completely quit smoking, for how long, and how they feel in comparison.
I have smoked for about 12 years and have cut back from a pack a day to 8 cigs a day, so i think with the ecig I can stop completely, but my husband smokes alot and has a really bad smoker's cough, so I'm hoping if he can quit on these.

I'm on my 118th day after 37Years. No desire for the tobacco stik whatsoever. I'm stuck on a tobacco, Keokee Coffee and Chocolate Hazelnut mix. Lovin It.

I got ripped off by SE in a mall at first. Then I got another RN4081. I know mostly use the RN4081 but I also have a 510. Using a passthrough with the 510 right now.

Worked for me! It's been about 6 months, and I've smoked maybe a pack in that 6 months (mostly when drinking, or around other smokers). Considering I was a pack and half a day when I switched to e-cigs, that's one hell of a testimonial for cutting back! Now, I give it a good second thought before I pick up an analog. They taste horrible, they stink...I just find myself thinking "why did I ever pick these up in the first place?!"

I didn't necessarily have plans to quit smoking. I just figured I would try the ecigs and vape once in a while. I figured if I cut back on analogs, great. I had nothing to lose.

I found that the analogs tasted so horrible after vaping such wonderful flavors that I just didn't want to put one in my mouth anymore. It took about 2 weeks of vaping, cutting back more on the analogs each day. Each day their taste disgusted me more.

I smoked 40+ years, 2 1/2 packs a day. I never thought I would quit smoking cigarettes. But I have. I think I'm on my fourth or fifth day. I'm not even keeping count, really. I just don't FEEL like I've quit smoking.

Here's the funny thing about ecigs and my brain lately. I go off to the bathroom or run out to the mailbox, and all of a sudden my brain sends off warning signals, saying that I forgot to put out my cigarette and I start to panic. 8-o

And then I remember that it's an ecig, not an analog. It still feels so much like I'm still smoking.

Strange....

Debbie
