I gotten some weird looks and double-takes.... (sometimes even while I was vaping :) ).... so, it has happened sort-of. As to the cops thing... some of the police here vape....we need more of them to vape so they can run down the scum bags easier!

What's irritating me now is the whole medical M.Jane thing by those not on chemo, and the the kid mentioned in post #6, and the idea that M.J. is somehow safe (it's not) or cool (it's stupid, and weak IMO). The pot thing was common 30/40 years ago, and is getting worse, not better. The good news is that M.J. flavor can be used in e-cigs to help kick that bad habit too, if you so desire.

The only time it happened to me was just last week. I was outside a medical complex after a doctors visit awaiting the wife to bring up the car (I don't walk anymore due to a spinal injury).

I was hitting my GO-GO pretty hard and probably looked like an old Cheech and Chong movie. Now I am 56 years old and look every day of it. This truly elderly type lady walked up to me and loudly proclaimed: "You should be ashamed of yourself! Flaunting the law in public at your age! No wonder kids have no respect for the law!"

I just laughed and tried to explain it was an electronic cigarette but she was already moving away with no desire to hear from me!

Funny thing is, I was a law enforcement officer for 27 years prior to my forced retirement due to disabilty and several of those years was as a narcotics officer. Go figure...

Good story.

I've only had this happen to me once. I was waiting for the Mall Shuttle during lunch, vaping away on my eGo and two ladies walked up to the stop. One of them started that annoying "cough" and made some snarky remark about smokers. I turned around, showed her my PINK EGO and said "This is not a cigarette and I'm not smoking, but thanks for faking!" They both turned red and walked away.

LMAO, that would have been my Mom if she was still alive. But she wouldn't have made any comments...

BTW, I'm sure Mom and Dad are grinning at my vaping.

A friend was storing a dirt bike in my shed and the bike was stolen. A cop came out to take a report and I was there listening and making a few comments-- all the while puffing on my (eG0 manual) PV. The cop never said anything about it ! This was over a year ago when PV's where even less well-known than now.

Later, I thought I should have said something since he might have felt he had probable cause to obtain a search warrant for drugs and rummage through my house ! But he never did.

This has happened to me, and when people ask if weed can be smoked out of it, I tell them: "Well, if you want to spend a lot of money on this, why don't you try it? I'm pretty sure you'll fail."

This is why I am SO happy 510s have LEDs because then it usually dismisses the fact that it's paraphernalia for illicit substances.

As it was said before here, it's the smell more than anything, that determines whether the police will be suspicious or not. And who can be suspicious of a lovely Cinnamon Roll or White Chocolate Mocha scent wafting in one's path? I don't think anyone would, although I'll bet their mouth will water and their tummies will start growling. Sure, the vapor does look like smoke at first glance, but the smell (or perhaps lack of a certain smell, like cigarette smoke) should alleviate any fears they may have for their mortal souls, or whatever it is they fear.

And, I agree with distancing ourselves from any known illegal substance topics here. It's just not even the same thing at all. Besides, we have much better topics to discuss here anyway! :vapor:

Since vapers are most likely to be mistaken for M.J. smokers, I think it's a valid point of discussion regarding vaping in public. I do not, however, think that linking M.J. to vaping in any way is a good idea. M.J. flavored juice could only lead to further confusion between vaping and M.J. smoking. This is especially true when it comes to public opinion, which is VERY critical when it comes to how severe regulatory action will become. Please, do not say M.J., good, and vaping in the same sentence... except for that sentence :glare:

And after several years of debating it through the courts, many states allow the smell alone to be considered "Probable Cause" for not only search and seizure but arrest. When you add a visual, such as vapor which appears to be smoke and you have created an almost sure fire way to ruin many hours of your day.

No you wouldn't get convicted but I for one have neither the desire nor finances to pay the expenses related to an arrest. The "Good Faith" doctrine would absolve in most states, any officer acting on the combined sight and smell. But that is my first and only comment on any juice that "smells like".

I'm sure no harm was meant but we are fighting an uphill battle as it is. Please let's not discuss something like that. :) A perfectly good discussion as we have now will get locked or deleted (and rightly so) by moderators. Not to mention the folks that will get the wrong impression of not only the folks chatting in this thread but of vaping in general.

Thanks! :)
