Yup as of matter of fact this happened to me yesterday, Was coming home and got pulled over I asked why and he said because I look like I would have warrants. Then his partner walked up opened my passenger side door with out asking, I said you mind telling me why the **** your opening my door he said he couldn't see in. Last time I checked my windows wasn't tented and I didn't say you could open my door. I had my itaste on the dash and he asked me for it tested it then I was free to go. I even posted this on facebook yesterday after it happened. For one Because I look like I have warrants isn't a valid reason to pull me over, two you aint got the right to open my door and demand s*** just because your a cop. I did file a complaint this morning but as always nothing will happen.

Just saying if he was a liar and a cheater, I doubt his reaction to the police was one of a trustworthy individual. I have never met him so I don't know. I have known many liars and cheaters in my day though, they get harassed by law enforcement a lot more than I do...

As far as NYC police policies, what dafuq do I care? I don't live there, and for good reason. The police HAVE to be cautious, to the point of being aggressive with everyone just to save their lives. Especially in NYC.

Do their job, then get back to us.

They aren't equally aggressive with everyone. I assure you that a white man would have been able to convince the cop that he didn't steal the computers before it came to greeting the pavement, face first. In fact, it took a white man in the same computer repairs service uniform to convince the cop to let my ex go.

I like what you have to say so far, but please don't devolve this into a race thread (not sure where it has to go but the outside anyway). If what you are saying is absolutely true, then that sucks, and I'm sorry to hear it. Police officers are no doubt guilty of profiling. A method that has questionable results, and clearly being an adulterous liar is indeed legal.

I think it's important that people don't judge every law enforcement officer by the indiscretions of a few ignorant. That indeed would be profiling, no?

I am sure this is true. But I know many a white folk who would get pulled out of their car and beat because of how they reacted to being questioned. A car load of computer equipment at 3 am? He had a very reasonable answer to as to why he had them, and probably had proof of his employer. If he came off as a lying cheating person and not a logical intelligent person he probably got restrained and fought them, and then got slammed to the ground. It has nothing to do with race, it has to do with how situations are dealt with.... you don't get road rash on your face without a reason... bad cop or not. Might be different in NYC, I don't know. But if all this is true a lawsuit should take care of it if it is all true and innocent.

I know not every cop is like this, but NYC is pretty much training them to be like this. They're following policies and procedures set by higher officials. Racial profiling is part of their job here. My ex was raised to treat cops with the utmost respect. He was raised to be submissive to cops, to allow searches without warrants, to do nothing that could give a cop a reason to lock him up. The issue is, even when you do everything right, even when you willingly give up your rights out of respect, that doesn't stop those bad eggs. It's possible to respectfully decline a search, and that's what I'll do if I'm not doing anything wrong. That's what my son will do if HE is not doing anything wrong. Meek and submissive didn't get my ex anywhere. For the record, my ex was in shock that he was actually being arrested and apparently wasn't lowering himself to the ground fast enough for the officer, who took that as some form of resistance. My ex was following instruction. Believe me when I say he wouldn't have had the guts to say no to the officer. He simply wasn't moving fast enough. We filed complaints. Nothing came of them.
