Anna for President! :)

I can't imagine the hearings. My past makes me look a bit unreliable to put it mildly. I sort of thought perhaps my sis might not get HER security clearance because of ME but I guess they were like, "Every family has one bad apple, etc."

I wouldn't even want to TRY to get past the background stuff, the kinds of commercials that would be run I would probably find intensely painful.

Also every president looks like they have aged 20 years during their 8 year term and Regan got Alzheimer's!!!!!!! I'm not doing it. Not without plastic surgery and they fix my stomach too.

This last statement PROVES I am not fit for the presidency. It's also really hard to wake me up in the middle of the night to deal with a bomb threat or.... whatever. All those meetings with other leaders and time zone changes, NO thank you.

To be frank, it looks like the most thankless job of all time. I kind of like that Trump looks HAPPY (when he's not ANGRY) doing it. Maybe at the end of his term, he will actually be HANDSOME. Who knows.

Also, communism, perhaps at its roots, could be considered an economic system.

I think the world has pretty fairly proved that you need people in charge to administer the "communism." People being who they are, well, I'm afraid there really isn't a communist country that is "doing it right."

Perhaps we could have the super computers administer the money but even THEN someone has to run, maintain, and add new folks/remove dead folks and so that is a human being, set of very powerful ones, and that makes my toes SQUIRM.

The fact that there is a fairly large faction of folks who think the MORE than money system of communism is a GOOD idea here scares me more than the idea of coming face to face with the holy ghost.

I'm not saying capitalism is the be all and END all but of the things we have to choose from I will TAKE IT and having BEEN UTTERLY poor on occasion, I am here to tell you there is enough of a safety net to get by, if you don't have 15 kids and 7 baby daddies, or if you aren't abusing drugs. There is enough of a safety net to get by, it's not easy, it's not fun, but it can be done. Life won't be all "Let's go eat at that great restaurant tonight!" But you CAN and WILL get your basic needs met (probably the most difficult being housing.)

However, there are some really horrible apartments out there that can be rented for little cost, you don't actually NEED the (equally horrible) public housing system.

This is why I tend to avoid politics and religion topics at work.

And why it's not permitted here - only in The Outside Forum.

People need to start listening and not carrying on with their verbal matches taking threads off topic.

Correct, when I took biz admin we had to study economic systems and Communisn and Socialism, Capitalism are economic systems. So is barter which is the first economic system. People just get their nickers in a knot over words without learning the original meaning.

In the end, I certainly don't see any Republicans riding to our rescue.
When Trump was using his executive orders to deregulate business, I had faint hopes. But his vice president was no friend to vaping when he was Indiana's governor.

The Demonrats and Republicants are the friends of big tobacco. The vaping community is a direct threat to big tobacco.

Operating under a Democratic President who could have fired and replaced him at any time.

I see the headline said "Top Democrat" (a stretch), not "Head Democrat".

So why no furor in these parts when Senate Majority Whip Charles Grassley made his own anti-vaping statement?

Because I don't care what Grassley said or anyone else in congress or the senate, they are career politicians and, as such, they are unworthy of much consideration except in this context: Re-elect No One.

If you find solace in the Democrat party but vote Libertarian, so be it. I don't understand that; it seems inconsistent, but there is much in this world that don't understand - I add this to that list.

All I get from the link is a 494 error

I googled that...

Causes of Error494
The error 494 may be caused by windows system files damage. The corrupted system files entries can be a real threat to the well being of your computer. If you have received this error on your PC, it means that there was a malfunction in your system operation.

You can google for the fix.

If you haven't already read it, I strongly recommend George Orwell's Animal Farm. Actually, it's worth a second reading, in my opinion.

Buy it now, before it gets banned along with any other book by Orwell or Aldous Huxley.
Can I still read Huck Finn?.
