OT, but it's hard not to miss that there's a few members on ECF, which sole purpose seems to be bumping certain dealer threads over and over again, what the heck is up with that?

Like Picc said, there's no such thing as off topic here :D

The E-liquid section used to be really bad. That has calmed down immensely. The Mods will take care of things when/if it gets out of hand. ;)

I studied Henry V for my A-levels about a hundred years ago and got to go on a school trip to Stratford-on-Avon to see the man himself playing Henry V. (aahhhhh sigh.................:hubba:) He was spectacular and especially as the play itself is not one of the greatest Shakespeare wrote but was really just a bridge between Henry IV and Henry VI.

That is very cool, color me jealous.

I just have a few questions about this film

1) Okay, so the aliens come here from outer space, they bring five ships....

Do they need to call hope to ask to send more ships?
Don't they have more ships?
If they do, why do they have to phone home for them? Wouldn't not hearing from the five ships they sent be a good indication they needed to send more ships?
If they don't have more ships, why call home? What good would that do?
Why didn't they just send the ships to begin with, you know, hit us with overwhelming force?
Don't they have more air power? They send these massive ocean ships, but one flying saucer thing?
What happened to the force shield that had the last destroyer trapped?
How did they get so close to that island when they needed to in like three minutes when they said they were 120 miles away early in the movie? Was it a supersonic destroyer?

2) With regard to the transmission array...

If they were outside the force shield, why didn't any human jet planes from somewhere else help out to take out the communications array since it is the key to winning?
If they were inside the force shield, why didn't any human jet planes from pearl harbor help out?
If all they needed was three satellite dishes to call home to their planet, why didn't they just put three satellite dishes on every ship they sent? I mean, they had thousands of those bomb things, and dozens of those death ball things, couldn't they find room for three satellite dishes in the trunk or something?

3) With regards to the transmission/communication ship that got "broken up" by the weather satellite...

So the ship traveled millions of miles through space and was designed to enter the earth's atmosphere at thousands of miles per hour, but a collision with a weather satellite fatally damaged it?
If it was headed for pearl harbor, why did the mass of a satellite 1/10000 of it's mass knock it so far out of its path to china?
If phoning home was the key to victory, why didn't they use the force shield thing to protect the communication ship when it got close to earth?
If phoning home was the key to victory, why didn't they just send two communication ships, or three?
Why did it enter Earth's atmosphere at all. Couldn't it just remain in stationary orbit above Pearl Harbor and pass along messages, without subjecting it to danger on the surface? Did the aliens have all this technology but couldn't make a communications device good enough to send a transmission a few miles into space? Wouldn't you think every alien soldier would have a satellite phone good enough to do that?
If the force shield worked like they said, why did they send anything but communication ships with force shields?
Why not just do what I said above to phone home, why have a massive, yet exceedingly fragile ship that is the key to winning the whole deal?
Why did any of the ships enter Earth's atmosphere? Why didn't they just launch death balls from space while orbiting earth? The Death Balls were pretty unstoppable. Why not put half their forces on the surface and the other half in space so if things started to go wrong, they could just split, or wait for more help to arrive from the home planet?
Why?

Nothing made any sense at all....
The one thing you might not have taken into account here is that the movie was based on the board game Battleships. It was the strategy concept that they had to fight am enemy that they couldn't see with all the technologies that either side had. Albeit, the plot was loosely stuck together with the need for the aliens to set up communications to call for reinforcements using the same equipment we used to attract them.

Also, we don't know if this first landing party of aliens was meant to lead the invasion. It most likely was just sent out to take a look around to see if invasion was feasible. Since the first mission didn't return the host will think twice about sending out another.

Being a huge fan of board games ( I have hundreds) I was puzzled why they would pick that one when there are so many vastly better board games available. I did not see it, saw the preview and knew it was not for me.

My five year old son just loves Battleship. First an app on my iPad, then mommy bought him the non-electronic version of the board game, and he's pretty good, took him a while to learn grid coordinates, but at 5, he's pretty darn smart. So funny to watch or play it with him, he gets so upset when one of his ships is hit. Ahh nostalgia...

Well, if this was a scouting party then...

Why not send a lot of smaller, faster, harder to detect ships or flying things? Why were there three obvious fighting ships sent? Why did the aliens target Roads, Bridges, and Power Systems if it was an invasion feasibility study? Why would they send those attack ships at all and not all spies? If they sent the ships to engage Earth defense units and determine if further invasion was worthwhile, wouldn't they have recorded the battles and uploaded it to something that was not in every fight?

If they are capable of sending ships across the galaxy, wouldn't they have a better plan to get information back to their home world if that was the whole reason they came here? If they intended to determine the feasibility of a future invasion, why was the care of the communication ship so poor? Wouldn't they want to know it was a bad candidate for invasion just as much as they would want to know a good candidate? If they were just looking around, wouldn't they have entered the earth's atmosphere at night to reduce the chances of detection rather than in broad daylight right where they know we have people and technology? Why would they risk soldiers if it was simply an information gathering deal? Don't these super advanced aliens have drones and unmanned probes like we do?

I know it was based on the game "Battleship". And yes, maybe I am taking it too seriously. I just think that "basing the movie on a game" is a terrible reason to make the movie a pile of nonsensical crap. It is still a movie, and you are still charging people to see it. Can't you make it something that makes sense? They could have explained it a dozen better ways, but they just did not give a :censored: that it made no sense, it is like Peter Berg didn't direct, edit, or review writing cause it was "based on the board game". In my mind that is simply not right. Didn't he get paid to make something coherent as a final product?

I won't talk about it any more. I think my OCD is getting the best of me on this one.

I've been busy. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Everyone else?

Ordering HHV juice, vaping HHV juice, trying to look busy at work on Monday after a three day weekend when I don't want to be here, and wondering where everyone else is. It's slow around these parts lately.

I guess I really should do something here. Vapemail coming soon did brighten my rainy day though. ;)
