So many unread pages and no time to read 'em.

Did I mention I came home to vape mail? Yes, I believe I did. Where is that post now? .... short term memory loss.:facepalm:

Gosh, that Cherry Balsam smells so delectable with it's cap and dripper off - it's over powering everything else I been vaping since I got home at 6.

See ya'll in the morning - time to go horizontal.

Got a computer question.

I have a new laptop showing up today and it is loaded with Windows 8 (don't like it). I have Microsoft Office 2000 that I robbed from my company way back. I have it loaded on my desktop which has Windows 7 on it. Works fine. But does anyone know if I will have a problem loading MS Office 2000 into my Windows 8 laptop?

It will work, Bronze (for the most part). You may lose some functionality and you may need to install it in "compatibility mode" to simulate an older operating system. You're just creating bottle-neck's in the systems performance though.

I've found that when folks complain about newer operating systems and the issues that they are having, most of it has to do with running legacy applications that are not supported fully by the newer operating systems.

My recommendation, upgrade to a newer version of Office.

It shouldn't be a problem installing it. Finding it after you install it is another question.

Don't you love how Microsoft in their infinite wisdom decided to turn our computers into smartphones?

Thanks Dust. You're right. It might be best to just get the newest version of Office. But I'm cheap and don't want to spend the money. I also don't feel like learning the new quirks. At some point, I will begin worrying if my Excell and Word 2000 docs will be obsoleted and irretrievable.

I may be forced to just go to the newer Office version. I'm assuming I can migrate/convert the old version files to new version files??

I read that Windows 8 had so many complaints and problems that they are making an upgrade I think coming out by the end of the year. Bringing back the Start button and other stuff that Windows 8 took away. You may want to wait for the upgrade to be released.

Don't have a choice Sweetie. I used Windows 8 back in Feb/Mar for the first time and it is a complete departure from previous versions. And not that I'm afraid of new stuff, but Windows 8 just plain sucks!

I usually hold off upgrading until after all the bugs are fixed. I understand that when you get a new computer, you don't have that option of waiting, which totally sucks.

With all the money MS has, you'd think they would prove their systems before releasing it to the masses. I guess not.

Cripes, McDonald's has their products 1000% scrutinized before they release it on their menu. I know a hamburger is not an operating system, but still!
