Did you know Adams, his old friend and enemy, died that same day?

Actually, yes. And also duly note in PopPop's post. Lots of our founders were friends and enemies. Washington and Jefferson were quite close for a time but eventually were at odds. I think Alexander Hamilton led the league in making enemies. Including Aaron Burr. :)

I guess I should've read a little further before posting. I think Hamilton was actually Washington's confidant, to the point where many called him "Washington's Boy". But a scandal involving collecting unpaid IOU's from the Continental Congress to Revolutionary Soldiers for 10 cents on a dollar then cashing them in Philadelphia ended Hamilton's political viability, opening the door for Adams to become our second president. That scandal was reported by an Irish-born political hack named James T Callender. Aaron Burr went off the reservation when Jefferson stole the 1800 Presidential Election, in a way that makes 'hanging chads' seem weak and pitiful. But when Jefferson became President, he distanced himself from Callender, to whom Jefferson had promised a Postmaster job if Callender would support Jefferson's Campaign. Callender, in turn, broke the story of 'Dusky Sadie', Jefferson slave mistress who kept his bed and birthed his children. That revelation left Callender floating face-down in the James River near Richmond. Ironically, when the Jefferson administration tried to push Sedition Laws through the courts, it was Alexander Hamilton who stood in open court and successfully defended the American Ideal of Freedom of the Press.
Politically correctness wasn't around back then.
Question- Who was charged with the task of hunting Aaron Burr to end his attempted rebellion ?

I believe it was Thomas Jefferson the man he served under as his VP. Unless you're talking about the man who physically hunted him

If memory serves, and it doesn't always, I believe Jefferson did assign someone to go into what is now Tennessee and Kentucky to hunt down Burr and end his militia's existence. But what I'm uncertain of- was it a young Stonewall Jackson that was assigned that charge ?

My bad. It what is now Texas that Burr leased from the Spanish, but when he was charged with Treason, Burr surrendered near New Orleans, returned to Richmond and was tried and acquitted due to lack of evidence. This according to Wikipedia.

I know Jefferson saw Burr as a threat to not only him, but the union itself. So I'm pretty sure Jefferson had him hunted down. Who physically did it I don't know. My first thought was Davey Crockett. LOL!

Actually have been pretty lazy for part of the day..then running around like crazy trying to get some work done around the house. Just taking a beer/vape break at the moment then have a few more things on my list for tonight. Hubby is making stuffed pork chops on the grill for dinner nom nom....

I've been lazy today as well. Ate at Mom's, held the baby briefly (you can't get her away from my parents!!), came home and took a long nap, and now I'm trying something different. I cleaned one of my Kanger T2s and put Ahlusion's Ginger Apple Tea in it and plugged one of the air holes with tape. Not a bad vape for sure. It's nice to venture away from my tobaccos, but I've got Serendipity right beside it. :p I really think I'm simply a tobacco NET person. Hopefully I can clean out my vape box a little bit...I've got too much juice! Although that's a nice problem to have I think. I need to vape up some of the older stuff so it doesn't go bad on me so that's why I'm trying this one. This T2 isn't so bad either.

:vapor: OH...I'm drinking another green apple Smirnoff drink too. Goes well with the Ginger Apple Tea me thinks. And I'm watching Chopped. I love that show!

My neighborhood is aglow with firework displays. They scare me so I don't shoot them off...although my son is looking sad that we don't have any. So I'm going out of my comfort zone and buying some tomorrow to shoot.

I can't vape this ginger apple tea for very long. ugh I think I would be happy with just five juices. Serendipity, Dragon's Fire, Legend, Oompa, and Highbrow Cigar. What would I do without HHV? Scary thought! And I am so thankful for the Purity line.

Went to my 'Nothing Box' for the morning, Watched 'Live Free or Die Hard' (love that one) then grilled up some pork ribs, parmesan corn on the cob while Mamaw fried Summer and Zucchini Squash fresh from the garden. Life is Good !

Sounds Awesome! For lunch I cooked Brats and Hot dogs on the grill, For Dinner I cooked Pork chops on the grill and we had fresh corn on the cob, Cheese bread rolls, Steamed Green beans, and my wife baked a 4th of July Cake.....The funny part to me is....My wife is british ;)
I wonder if Hula Made any 4th of July cake today?

A few years a go we were living in England and I was DJing, I had a gig at a Pub and it was my first time playing there and to my surprise that put up a sign that sadi "4th of July Party with DJ American J" I didn't go by that name until then and it pretty much stuck!
