That is unfair and unfortunate Papaw! Could your wife not provide any evidence to counter what was claimed against her? Did they specifically state that as the reason for letting her go? Because I would think that she could fight it..

Pretty low move there by the ladies that did that.

At this point she is so hurt emotionally that she does not want to return to that job. The only ladies present were her and the two accusers. That is specifically the reason stated, although somewhere the story I got was "The actual word was used and she was present." I can assure you, from my own experience, she does NOT like that word. I will seek Legal Council, but without any witnesses to contradict what has been accused it comes down to character witnesses vs. accusations. Of Racism. In the South. Good Luck with that, right ?

Pawpaw give your wife a big hug from me... if that's the environment of the workplace perhaps she can find a happier one. Or she could just be a kept woman;) On a serious note I'm sure she is hurt and most likely insurance etc. is involved so hope it gets worked out.

RJ Charley is adorable...all these cute kids we are a very fortunate group.

I think right now she's leaning towards early retirement and 'kept woman'. (hope the fright holds up )

Papaw just for some spending money my mom works half days at a beauty salon as a receptionist and loves it. It gets her some money in her pocket and social time. It's the kind of job if she wants time off she just tells them in advance...I'll say a little extra prayer for the 'kept' woman in your life tonight..

Feeling a tad left out Edd? :(

OMG these babies are tooo freaking cute!!

Papaw, reverse racism is as ugly as just plain racism. I'm so sorry that the cattiness in your wife's workplace has caused her such pain. My thoughts are with her. She did nothing wrong and should hold her head high. {{{{{ Mrs. Papaw }}}}}

I had a woman who worked for me and she was about to get fired. It wasn't my decision to fire her. She was in process of being fired before she ever reported to me. A couple weeks after I took over that facility she came in my office and said she was reporting me for sexual harassment. Of course, she had no grounds. One, I never talked to her because I knew she was gone. Two, a drum of bondo could not have made me more interested in her (if you know what I mean). Three, it just aint me. Clearly, she knew she was going to get canned and she made the charge just so it would be more difficult to fire her. I told her it was BS. She just smiled and walked out of my office. She didn't have her .... out the door and I was on the phone to the VP of HR and told him everything.

She got canned that afternoon. I smiled when I opened the door to let her out. :)

I think your wife is right PopPop. She can never go back there and feel comfortable. There is something better out there for her. Best of luck to both of you.

Just catching up.. trying to get all our crap packed up so I can spend an hour or two on the beach in the morning before heading home.

Papaw, sorry to hear that about your wife's job, its a sad world we live in some days.. and it hurts a lot..

Dusty, I keep myself sunscreened up, I've got 10+ years of smoking to give me wrinkles, don't need sun damage also! Will check out your pics when we get home.

New job starts Wednesday after a long day of travel tomorrow. Will time vacation differently next year. Need a day at home to tackle enormous mountains of laundry..

Goodnight all..

That is a rotten thing to happen to Mrs Papaw. I had something similar happen to me a few years ago, - from being known as the one person that was keeping the organization going, was voted the most highly respected person in that organization, when a new and incompetent boss had arrived on the scene. He disliked me, the regard in which I was held, and the facts and numbers I provided him about imminent bankruptcy and what we might do to stave that off, so he put it around town far and wide that all I wanted was to shut it down So I went from most highly respected 16 year saviour of the organization to Public Enemy Number 1. It made me sick for quite some time - and I cannot begin to express the immense hurt from the lies being spread around. They say not to mix personal and professional but I don't think anyone who cares can help it - personal standards demand one gives of one's best professionally, so if the latter is attacked, it's akin to being physically sliced with a knife. While Mrs papaw will undoubtedly have a stiff upper lip about the whole thing, lots of love expressed from you and her friends will help support her. Sometimes a stupid inane outside attack like she had can seriously undermine everything good she knows herself to be. Obviously the 2 + supervisor have an agenda of which she may be currently unaware and she was the unwitting victim in their crosshairs. For myself it was a long and painful trip, but by gosh, I came out of it better and stronger and with the right priorities for the right things, like family and health. .....Oh! and PS, after I left ...

...... they went bankrupt.

Excuse me? I mentioned you by name Mr. Roar (aka my fellow Huntsman). :p

Indeed you did. The comment was not directed at you, noble Hula.

I was referring to Robin's lack of attention. But I know how to get her attention:

What do you say Robin? No better way to unwind from family time than a wardrobe wrinkle?

Just got home from overnight run to Hagerstown MD (I-81 was awful) to find out my wife was fired today. Racism. Bull-Hockey. I'm the arshole in this marriage, she's the one who has always tried to teach me better. Eventually, Alcoholic's Anonymous and my obviously better half got me to at least see things more evenly. Gives me the red-.... to think she's been railroaded by a couple of 'get-even' types when I've heard my wife defend black people in white conversations for nearly thirty years now.
For the record, she said "I don't understand why anyone would use the 'N' word anyways. It's such a filthy word." during breaktime, and two black women complained to a black H.R. Supervisor. Now the wife is unemployed.
Good thing I don't have a Glock but I still have an AA sponsor.... this is wrong treatment of a good person.

It is a disgrace that this word has been afforded such power that its use even to quote it's use by others is super-taboo.

Take a day or two and think about the next move. I am truly sorry to hear this has happened to your family over such complete nonsense.

You're a naughty boy Eddie - I'd have thought Russell Crowe in his Gladiator clothes (slobber, slobber) or Clive Owen as King Arthur (damn, now I'm drooling) would be more likely to get Robin's attention, but then, that's just me.

Not that Clive Owen is really my type, but I thought he was better in "Elizabeth: the Golden Age".

EDIT: I am not sure a gladiator outfit would suit Robin. I guess she would have to model it for us, and the cheerleader outfit. Only if this were done could be provide an honest, objective analysis of the merits of both.
