What did the L4-L5 fuse do to your mobility? I can't remember which ones my bro got fused. I think it was in his lumbar but not sure.

I was shopping with my girlfriend in Walmart.
I picked up a case of beer and put in the cart.
"What are you doing?" my girlfriend asked.
I said, "It's only $10 for 24 cans."
She said, "Well, we can't afford it, put it back."
So I put it back and we continued shopping. A couple aisles later, my girlfriend picked up a $20 jar of face cream.
I said, "What's that for?"
She answered, "It's my face cream. It makes me beautiful."
I said, "Well hell, so does a case of beer and it's half the cost."
That's me lying in aisle 5........
I don't need to be any sicker, thanks. LOL. I do catch up on movies though. Some airlines have an oldies channel. Gone with the Wind, and Singin' in the Rain...that's five hours dead right there.
Love, love, love old movies! I was born in the wrong era I think sometimes. I loved the fashion, hair styles, ladies shapes. They had curves then and were gorgeous. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Gene Kelly, Cyd Charisse (spelling?) too many to mention. Hard to catch those anymore on TV.
L5 is the first vertebrae above the sacrum, so L4-L5 doesn't have much mobility to begin with. Fusing didn't limit my mobility at all from what I can notice. Some people require multiple levels fused and that's where you start to notice mobility loss. Fusion in the cervical spine (neck) is a different story and mobility loss can be more of an issue. As for recovery, that depends on many factors including the materials used in the fusion spacer, the technology in the procedure, the approach of the incision, and if any external stabilizing hardware was used (to be later removed after the bones fuse). I had no external hardware, the most modern materials used in the fusion spacer, and the approach was from the front leaving me with a 2" incision in my belly. I was walking in the first week. The pain sucked for the fist month to 2 months. After three months my pain was at 50%. After 6 months, it was 30% and I started strength training and PT. After a year I was 100%. It usually takes 9 months to 1 year for the bones to totally fuse. I wore a brace for 6 months. As for artificial disk replacement, I don't know of ANY insurance companies covering that. The technology is still emerging and the data is inconclusive on the long-term effectiveness of disk replacement vs. fusion. The only advantage to replacement is that it preserves mobility but the effectiveness is showing to be equal to that of fusion at best provided the diagnosis is proper to begin with. Spinal fusion is one of the most over prescribed surgeries to combat chronic back pain and is often unnecessary. It did the trick in my case because I did a LOT of homework and tried many other options. Since your brother's case is congenital, he's lived with issues most of his life and fusion may have been the best option for him. Disk replacement would not be an option to fix congenital spinal stenosis. Hope this helps clarify. Now back to my Shadowfax.![]()
April, just vape in the airport. I do it all the time and nobody hassles me. I try to be inconspicuous, but nobody has ever bugged me about it, and I fly all the time.
Just don't do it on the plane. That's against regulations - just like smoking, refusing to turn your phone off, etc.
The Miami airport was completely insane on Saturday. Four cruise ships unloaded at the same time, plus all the early holiday travelers. A complete mad house. Thank goodness I'm platinum with American Airlines, so I get in the priority lines.
You frequent flyers, what devices don't leak under the change in pressure on take-off and landing? Flying to Miami of xmas and trying to decide what to have loaded. for the traveling. Also have to decide what juices to bring with me. Prolly 30ml of Shadowfax, Gandalf, and I don;t know what else for the last 30ml.
My issue is I don't vape in front of my girls!!!! I like the family bathroom so I don't freak anyone out with smoke or odors. At sea-Tac now, lots of family stalls. One more hour till my husband lands then we get picked up.
Got my vape station.Love it!! I put a piece of paper under each compartment that holds the juice with the date that they will be three weeks (after the 48 hr cap off) old. Three weeks for my taste seems a better fit. Before that date..... Not so much. Now I can really see what I am consuming and what I have for future use.
I got the caddy also.. It looks much better on the coffee table than the glass I was using.
I am going to have to glue up the connecting joints on the station. It is already separating at one corner edge. That's no biggie. I know, I know, it should be good from the get go, but for the price, you get what you pay for.. I'm happy enough with it. It's much better than in the cupboard since I have no little ones that come over.
You got me lost April. Have you been at the airport all day?
