Hello everyone! I just ordered my first juice from HHV. I chose the Dark Horse. I have been on the fence over trying a NET. From what I can gather they all have a cigar or pipe tobacco flavor. I am hoping that the pipe tobacco flavor is not as upfront in the Dark Horse. I smoked Kools for many years, and while I am no longer looking for that burnt cig taste, I must have a menthol kick. Has anyone tried Dark Horse with the menthol option? I am hoping it plays well with the menthol.
Hi and welcome Sam I haven't tried DH yet but I think if I wanted menthol DH would be the logical first pick along with maybe Dragon's Fire I'm not a menthol vaper but I think Chakris uses menthol in some HHV juices correct me if I'm wrong Chak.

    Chakris,

"Vape it till you like it!" Actually I do like it and compared to Cigs vaping is a hands down winner. As far as the Cigs go I can honestly tell you I never liked the taste of them. Same thing with alcohol I used both for the end result which is why I thought Mad Dog 20/20 was as good as any Sauvignon Blanc (whatever that is).

What I am really afraid of is 55 years of smoking has really killed my sense of smell and taste. When I was much younger I quit cigs a couple of time and within days notice my new sense of smell and taste. It seems I may have stumbled on vaping a little too late to save everything because this time the smell and taste has not returned to what it once was. It is definitely better but not what it once was (but then what do I have that is). That said my Cardiologist is very pleased that I quit the smokes before my heart quit me. I can live with that. (pun intended). ;)

I'll just have to try some of the tobacco flavors you-all have recommended. The HHV "Legend" I have has been put back into steep mode for a bit but I will say that right out of the mail box I thought it was great and the flavor perception with it is great. God only knows what it is supposed to taste like but whatever it is I really like it. If I can find a couple more that are as pleasant as it for rotation purposes I'll be set.

I'll keep posting as I find/try others and my experience with them. I do have a bottle of HHV "Just Peachy" with added flavor in the postal system somewhere. I am really anxious to try it due to some post/reviews I have read here on ECF. It would be nice to find one semisweet e-juice to add to the rotation pool.

I hear ya on the "don't care for the taste of cigs and alcohol" not only do I have 40+ years of smoking to wreak havoc on my sense of taste, I also have sinus problems to deal with. By the time I started vaping, I lost all sense of what cigs/tobacco actually tasted like. Pople would say, this brand was better than that, and I'd say, meh, they all taste the same to me (except menthol). That I could still taste, even though I smoked Marlboro Red for ages, I'd have a menthol now and again. As a teen, I started on Kools to be ya know, cool! However, some sunshine here, I have read that it can take up to 6 months or longer for your sense of taste to fully recover.

My Cardiologist is also very pleased I gave up the stinkies. :toast:

    Leo,

Why not try 0mg Nic vaping. That might make the process a whole lot less painful. Get some good flavor, I don't know, maybe some key lime pie or something or maybe something citrus anything that would help you not notice the lack of Nic bite.

You may as well tell them. They will prorate your benefit if they test you post mortem and see nicotine...

Menthol Dark Horse is my allergy/sick liquid. It's pretty light tobacco, slightly sweet, and is complemented well by menthol. You may find you like it.

So I sent my letter about the FDA regulations to my Senators and Representative the other day. I got a letter back from Senator Richard Shelby!!!!! WOW! I'm stoked! A mailed letter! Some of it seems form-letter-ish...but most of it is very personable. And he even gave me the name and address of a person on the FDA Regulatory Counsel!!!!! WOW! I've always liked him but this makes me really like him.

    :)

That is TOTALLY awesome, RJ!! :toast: Good job :D

Boy I sat back to watch a little TV and came back to a whole passel of catchup post - Ugh! This is a busy thread!

Cigs and taste... If I had a nickel for every time I had said to myself why the heck do I smoke these things. I can't taste anything good and all they do is make me cough, I would be a rich man. My cigarette smoking went from Marlboro Red to the cheapest smokes I could find here in Utah. Utah's vice tax is really, really high. I digress, while working my way down the brands to finally some that I had never even heard of I never once notices any taste difference at least not of any significance. Even lights which I never really smoked in any quantity because I found I would just smoke twice as much, sort of self defeating.

Your comment on 6 months or so to recover smell and taste makes me feel like there is still hope. I have noticed some improvement but not in the area that I would like. The things I have started to smell are things like that cat litter box not exactly roses but at least I now understand why they make scented cat litter.

But all said and done I don't have any desire to go back to cigarettes and that all happened like some kind of magic. I started vaping and the cigarettes just sort of fell by the wayside with no real effort on my part. I found it very strange that I just had no desire for cigs especially after trying everything under the sun to get off them. Then to stumble on to vaping purely by accident and have it do what even "Chantix" at $400 dollars for a 12 week course (and I tried that three times). Hey it just dawned on me all the money I spent on Chantix would have paid for many fancy APVs and rebuild-able fancy tanks... oh well hindsight...

PS - It sure is nice to not have brown streaks on my white bathroom towels where they hang over the bar. Just some of the simple pleasures that I had totally forgotten. And even my cat doesn't mind the Vapor. If it drifts over her (which I try very hard to prevent) she just doesn't even seem to notice it with cigarettes she would leap off my lap and head for the back bedroom.

Sorry for rambling and the length of this post.

Hello Army, back from Kentucky in one piece :)
For the New Kids; I'm the grumpy old Trucker who loves his well-steeped HHV liquids. Most here are ProVari owners, I prefer REOS Mods. I happened to meet a newb (five weeks, no cigs) at my delivery in Westminster SC this morning. He's using a Joyetech 900mA/ CE4 clearo combination he purchased from a local vape store (brick and mortar, or B&M around here). I told him about ECF, and told him there are 'fanboys' and 'fangirls' who will say "You gotta try......" but what he's already doing is good if it keeps him off of the smokes. I would offer you the same advice. Trust your own judgement, and don't feel obligated to 'BUY- BUY - BUY' anything.
Congratulations on your decision to try Vaping instead of Smoking. :toast:
A few quick thought; NET is for Naturally Extracted Tobacco. This describes a process that extracts fluid from the tobacco leaf without burning. There are many different processes, I believe Adam and Heathers use Organic Alcohol in their extractions.
Steeping. Two days/ nights caps and drippers off. This is to allow any alcohol used in the extraction/ mixing process to evaporate. Then return the drippers/ caps. Shake every day/ every other day until the components within the juice have mixed to your liking.
Storage. NEVER EVER leave you e-liquids exposed to direct unfiltered sunlight for any length of time. Try to avoid radical temperature changes as well.
the Electronic Cigarette Forum. ECF is a monitored website for Vapers to meet and share their thoughts and ideas. Vulgarity, talk of drug usage, vicious personal attacks and other unapproved conduct can get you barred. There is a list of unapproved actions somewhere around here. Dusty D is our resident Moderator. He is good people, as are most others here at ECF.
Feel free to visit often, the HHV Army is a cozy little corner we've made for ourselves.
And, as always, Have a Safe and Blessed Day :)

EDIT: This grumpy 'Old Timer' always has two or three mods with different flavors going. Not to show off, it's because your taste buds will 'adapt' to a certain flavor and then you loose that flavor. Switch up you flavors regularly so you'll enjoy them better.

I also went from name brand to off brands and never noticed a change in taste. I actually liked my Fortunas quite a bit...at a mere $3 per pack compared to $5.50 I was paying. And I too went from smoking pretty heavily to vaping lickety split without looking back. Even through a PG allergy, cinnamon allergy, and adjusting my nic to the proper levels...I never wanted a cigarette after I started vaping. You see my Aunt died of lung cancer right before I quit smoking. She was my motivation. It was scary to think she was here one day and gone three weeks later after her diagnosis. It scared me. It just made it all real to me. How foolish I was by smoking and how I was shortening my life and lessening the time I would have with my son and his future family. I'm passionate about vaping. Vaping saves lives. I will never smoke again...and I never thought I would ever say that after smoking for 30 years.

    Morning Army! :toast:

Serendipity was made for the Reo! Holy big frikkin grins Batman! I didn't even go inside after pulling the box out of the mailbox. Whipped up a nice 1.3 ohm nano-coil right in my truck and filled the bottle and started squonking!! I'm a happy vaper today!!

    Retic,

I looked at "Sludge" but the name turned me off. I will definitely have to reconsider that not well considered decision.
    MMMMMMMmmmm.....Sludge
Actually not , it's a PITA when streets are closed for filming , and don't even ask me about Mardi Gras probably 98% of people over the age of 40 in NOLA will agree after a 16 hour day when you're trying to get home stuck in traffic will have you wanting an Abrams tank to drive home in .

And last to those just joining us.

Hmmm....haven't been following that one Robin. Mind you, I have problems with the "21" as in GB it's "18" and I'm one of those folk who feel if you can enlist and die for your country at 18, you sure as heck should be allowed to have a beer and a smoke if you want. Also I can't help but get angry with all the blah blah blah about cigarettes and booze when the problem of "other things" and even prescription things are so prominent in our youth, being both cheaper and easier to access.

    soapbox.jpg

    :D
    Bwahahahaha!

Hula, I just read on Facebook that Hawaii is trying to pass a law that a person has to be 21 to purchase tobacco products. :(
It's supposed to be voted on, on December 21st (if I remember correctly)

We can do it! Yes we can! Put the coke down and have an occasional glass of (gasp! I KNOW this is gonna hurt you more than me) WATER!! PG and VG are dehumectants, and may very well affect your taste buds. Sorry. water - close your eyes and think of England...or your favorite star with no clothes on (unless its me in which don't do that, because you might choke)... ROFL

It was probably the "or something"....LOL - Sheesh, I'm in one of those "I'm on a roll and think I'm hilarious" moods tonight....no alcohol involved either!

    Jay,

"Whipped up a nice 1.3 ohm nano-coil right in my truck and filled the bottle"

I thought I was the only one that did stuff like that only in my case it was a car. :D

Actually I don't do that anymore too many of the neighbors wanted to know what I was doing parked at the curb just sitting there. I think they thought I was sick or something.

Anyone read the Jeff Carlson Plague Year books? Very good and definitely scary if you think about it too much. (it was the zombie reference that got me going)

I agree you got witchcraft , voodoo , zombies , people getting eaten by gators and the frankenstein thing with a little sex thrown in , definitely entertaining .

Good Morning Army. Have you ever woke up with a song in your head ?
Have you ever woke up with Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" in your head ?
I am REALLY thinking about calling in sick today. Oh wait, truckers don't get sick days. Damn.
Anyways, Have a Safe and Blessed Day :)

Yes GrandPapaw. "Leave it" would be smart. Very smart.

    :p

    Since you asked......

A woman is like a bottle of fine wine. A young man goes uptown and finds her- fresh, bright and pretty- and thinks to himself "I'd like to have one of those !" So he spends the next several years going out and sharing dinner with his 'bottle of fine wine', until he is convinced this is the one for him, and brings her home. The years roll by, and whenever he walks into the kitchen and sees his 'bottle of fine wine' he is reminded of the years they have spent together. Every now and then he may even dust off a few of the cobwebs and enjoy her 'flavors' once again. By the time he is old and grey, his 'bottle of fine wine' is in another room, patiently waiting for the next anniversary or special event so they can try to relive their 'bright and pretty' years.
