I'm on my 3rd bottle of gandalf and I'm at a 40/60 blend at 18mg. I typically vape a 1.9 ohm coil at 4-4.2v. Here's my break down.... Days 1-3 it's mild. Has a good flavor but kinda hard to pinpoint. From then until about 10 days I start to get more sweetness. It actually leaves a sweet taste on my lips. I get a I guess a sweet grassy/barley flavor with maybe a bit of vanilla to it. After about 10 days I describe it as tasting like the smell of hot cocoa. Not the drink itself but the aroma. Kinda cocoa, kinda marshmallow although I still get a sweet kind of grassy/barley undertone and sometimes even a nutty undertone. It's so hard to describe but I like it.

It truly is odd how we all taste so differently. lol

I tried to smell it again, and it still smells of coffee. That is an interesting thought, Bronze. Perhaps I am getting a mocha-ish smell out of it. I did detect notes of chocolate. But more coffee than anything else, lol.

Edit: See, that's why I picked Gandalf... I want it to taste like chocolate! lol Thus the reason why I also got the Oompa, I want a good and sweet choco-bacco vape.

Yes, taste is in the buds of the beholder, but we are amazingly close on this Gandalf. All of us posting here anyway. I think if you analyze a juice long enough, it can be broken down into components that we can all relate to. For example, I think there are four different kinds of "sweet" in the various "sweet" juices. Sugar sweet, fruity sweet, smoky sweet, and floral sweet. I can't stand any of them except for smoky sweet and that's why I tend to like some of the caramel flavors.

Think a lot of the taste difference is because of the inherent variances of what we order. Nic content. Pg/vg. Be interesting to see if 2 ppl with the exact same of everything had more similar tastes.

BTW Dante, did you ever go back and give that MOV another try? Maybe it needed steeping too. But then, sounds like it had to come from much further back. Improving from cocoa versus insect repellent doesn't pose as large a problem.

I did. It's not AS repulsive now. More of maybe a hickory smoke flavor than pine sol. I still can't distinguish much difference between any of the three and no none of them are good. Lol.

Here I thought this was pretty interesting. This is new gandalf, a week old gandalf and over 2 weeks old gandalf. The one on the right is actually darker than the pick lets on and the one on the left is a bit tanner than it shows up in the pic but you can definitely see how it changes color with time. The one on the right was also 100%vg compared to the others at 40/60. The older 40/60 was gone a while ago. :)

Wow!!!! If that doesn't prove something is going on, nothing will.

I'm finding when using a VG or VG blend that I'll only fill about 1.4ml in my clearo (T2 or Mini Nova). When it's vaped up, I'll pull the coil and squeeze out the juice from the wicks with a paper towel and just rinse the tube put it back together and refill again with another 1.4 ml. Seems to keep the juice fresh without accumulating all that dark crap. I believe Dante or someone mentioned this in another thread and was a tip he got from his vendor. Seems to work pretty good Yes, a little juice gets wasted...perhaps 5 - 10% at most, but it was wasted to begin with and I didn't waste it...the device did. I suspect a dry burn is in order every few days or week. But this process seems to be the best.

Which three did you get?

I had their 555, the ry4 and Gold. I was a big 555 guy before but their 555 was actually the worst of the three. Whatever is in their base flavor is so overpowering that's all I taste in all of them. The ry4 is maybe a bit sweeter than the other two but ya I'm not digging any of them. I agree with other guy. Using them as a meat tenderizer might be more appropriate than using them in an atomizer.

So my wife is neither a smoker nor a vaper, but very occasionally when I'm trying something new and I can't figure out what I'm tasting, I'll get her to try it and give me her opinion. Sometimes she's spot on and I'll go, "Yeah that's it!". Just to settle this debate, I had her take a couple of vapes of Gandalf. And she said .... <drum roll>

"tastes like coffee".

I give up. :)

So all this Gandalf talk got me yearning for some, and I'm searching in vain for that coffee flavor. Just can't find it. It's always been funny to me how we can all vape the same juice and taste so many different tastes. :)

But yours has been steeped and the coffee flavor might be gone. I'll get my wife to take a few toots of whatever I'm vaping and she always says it tastes like coffee regardless of what I have in there. One time I'm gonna put a coffee juice in and have her try it. She'll probably tell me it tastes like pineapple.

I got bitter dark chocolate my first go-round with unsteeped Gandalf. Bitter is both in coffee and dark chocolate. HHV all seem to be chocolatey to me. Tick tock tick tock...I'm not touching them today.

Ha ha...I'm doing the same thing. I'm forcing myself to forget I have that HHV's put up. Tick tock tick tock. LMAO. Why does this vaping crap turn us into little kids?
