Hmmm, I'm not a huge Pacino fan but my list is pretty similar. I would add Hugh Jackman, Daniel Craig, and Christian Bale...

Oh, scarf.... Every word you said was true, except those two! I despise his non-acting thing he does in films. I find him to be wooden and his delivery never helps a character, and often is distracting even in good films. Sorry for the reaction, his existence in the acting universe is a pet peeve of mine. But hey, taste is subjective right!

The rest of it is spot on as usual.

Like a lot of those guys. Not sure why Russell Crowe is only good for me in a certain type role. Liked him in Gladiator, not so much in Master and Commander (although the character did have a decent arc). He was abysmal in "Les Miserables", although Ann Hathaway was the only one it that that I thought was better than okay, so maybe it was a direction/script/production thing. Tom Hanks is not my favorite, but he has done some really nice work and I see not mention of him in this, so I will mention his acting. My issues with Hanks start when he gets off script and starts running that pie hole of his politically.

As for actresses, I also have enjoyed the acting from Helen Mirren, and Catherine Hepburn, and in the younger group (say under 40) Natalie Portman is the clear best in my book (lets put the Star Wars performances on Lucas, shall we?). I also find Kate Beckinsale's work to be enjoyable, I am not sure she has fully "carried" a film yet, but she is young and her looks may keep her from being taken as seriously as she might be, although Portman has faced the same issue and dealt with it without much trouble.

My husband is not crazy about Crowe either.....I have always loved his movies! I have a cousin that looks so much like him (to me anyway) not identical but they could pass for brothers lol I will have to post a picture and see what you guys think, maybe I am crazy :p

I can't imagine anyone really caring if Kate Beckinsale can act.

Now that sort of objectification of women is offensive, GT! How dare you attempt turn that actress into a sex object? Degrading and demeaning to women everywhere, and I won't stand for it!

<=== hopes the fact that he regularly posted "Edd's Cheerleader of the Day" gives away his sarcasm here.....

I think Robin Williams should be added to this list and John Travolta has really done some good movies.

True Dat, Robin. Good additions to the list. Hmmm, maybe what we need is some pictures of these actresses that have generated such controversy on the thread....maybe a daily post? Hmmm....

just so we can all see the reasons for the thoughts expressed. Not sure if Kate in leather with big knee high boots and vampire teeth is appealing to everyone...but if you are into that sort of thing, it can be nice.

Maybe I jumped in late so forgive me if someone else has mentioned Wesley Snipes, Mark Wahlburg (loved Shooter), Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock. Vin Diesel is also good, but only if you've seen that family friendly movie he made where he was a washed-up Seal babysitting a family of five (what was the name of that movie ?)

I like a lot of Russell Crowe's work but absolutely hate some of it as well. Loved him in Gladiator, The Insider (also love Pacino in that), Master and Commander and the first film I saw him in, which was pretty brutal Romper Stomper.

Oh and to throw another of my favorite actors in the mix - Ewan McGregor, phenomenal actor. His portrayal of Iggy Pop in Velvet Goldmine was fantastic and The Impossible was another great performance, not to mention Trainspotting

Here are a few more I love...Kevin Costner, Harrison Ford, Bruce Willis, and Val Kilmer, I LOVED him as Doc Holliday!! Okay, I have to get going....Have fun :)

Interesting factoid about Val Kilmer, Oliver Stone did not want to give him the part of Jim Morrison in The Doors. Val was so insistent that he made a mix tape of Doors songs for Oliver Stone and said that 2 of the songs were Morrison and one was him and that if Stone could tell him which was him he would leave him alone. Stone could not tell which was Val Kilmer so he asked and Kilmer told him they were actually all him, he of course got the role after that.
