Entertaining story Dust. And, uh, perhaps you should listen to your wife lest you don't mind sleeping in the basement. Besides, the Canadian motorcycle season is what...2-1/2 days? :)

Something like that. It's actually the reason why I am not too crazy about getting one too, but the passion for riding has not dulled at all. :(

My wreck cured me of the motorcycle bug. Stay safe, guys.

I've had one wipe-out too on Mathilda, I was reaching down to switch over to the reserve tank for fuel, and had my front tire blow out on me at that very second. How I slid across the Highway to the side of the road, without anyone hitting me is still a mystery to me. Definitely cashed in some chips in the Heavenly piggy bank that day!

Had mine get out from under me on a wet road going around a corner at about 50. Rolled a long way into some woods. My Honda NH 250 was bent on a tree trunk when I looked up. I did not see a clear path for me to get to where I got from where I left the road. I got up, left my bike where it was, and never looked back.

I rode one more time about eight years later, just so the wreck was not my last ride. Got back to my buddy Neil's house in one piece, and that was that. It was fun, but I have no regrets leaving it behind.

My BMW bike had a compression lock-up up on me at about 60mph on the freeway, which locked the rear tire. I managed to ride it out until I could scrub some speed off.

High-sided and hit the pavement at about 20mph and the bike landed on top of me. I couldn't see whether a car was bearing down on me or not. Fortunately, one was not because it was a Saturday morning and traffic was light.

I managed to get out from under the bike, and get it to the side of the road. I got it started, rode it home (bent handlebars, road rash and all) and was somewhat shaken for a few days. I finally decided I had to get back on and ride or give it up forever.

I did sell that bike shortly thereafter (with full disclosure to the buyer of what happened).

Slim, motorcycle cops are the best riders out there. Those guys can really handle those bikes. It's amazing to watch them.

I couldn't believe the training course when I saw it. Ill have to see if I can post the video of my brother passing his hourglass test on the first try. He's the only one from his class to pass it and one of few to pass on his first try across the country. The kids a natural, he just started riding a couple months ago

Sooner or later everyone dumps their bike. It's a matter of how bad it is and how lucky you are.

After I nearly kilt myself on a sickle, I swore it off for life. Then about six/seven years later I started getting the bug. Worked with a guy (we worked on the same production line together) who just got a brand new 4-wheel ATV when they first got popular. He brought it to work to show everyone. It was a beauty! I was hooked again and wanted to get a bike. The next day Dave didn't show up for work. Got the word that he flew off his ATV and it landed on him killing him. He was laid out in a funeral home just two doors from where I was renting a unit. I walked to his funeral, said "Goodbye Dave" and gave up any thought of getting a bike. 25 years old. RIP. Think about him frequently. There one minute working with me....gone the next. Wish they hadn't had an open casket. That's all I see.

Except for the "very first time" all my offs have been off-road with the exception of a couple all stop drops. You know, when you come to a stop, put the foot down and it either slips or is in a little unexpected depression and the tiny weight shift is unstoppable and down she goes. The first time was when Dad got me a Taco minibike. He taught me all the in and outs of how to operate the thing, so I got on gave her some gas and drove it right onto a tree. Just stared right at the tree and the minibike went exactly where I told it to go. Rode it for years with bent front forks:)

Will be uploading pics sometime today from the camera so will trickle a few of them here.

Slim, congrats to your bruder passing that course. I love watching cycle cops do their thing on there bikes. Amazing to watch knowing I would drop my bike on about the first maneuver I tried. I cannot speak highly enough for the MSF courses you can take. You learn so much.

One day I'll do the southern run to ride through TX, LA, AR, AL, GA, FL, etc. Will have every state and province at some point. Except Hawaii of course.
