Hello Gang.
New to the forum and not "vaping" yet.
I am a smoker, four 20 packs week, and I want to quit.
Thinking ecigs might help me get there.

I have read a lot of the postings on the new members forum and I am more confused than I was before looking into this.
I am looking for a starter kit I think, that comes with everything I need.
I would like something that looks and feels close to a real cigarette, something I can smoke while I drive and have my coffee in the morning. Don't even know what to say/ask about taste/flavour.

From what I have read about batteries, mods, drips, etc,etc....I am totally confused.

Any advice would be great.
I just thought the ecig thing was simply buying one, but it seems more than that.

so I am looking for a cigarette look alike, that just works out of the box, does that exist?

Thanks in advance.

Try NJoy Kings, they are sold at most 7-11s or quicky-marts. They are by far the best disposables I have tried. They will be expensive and will not last as long as you think, but the trick is to get off the tobacco. I do not recommend trying the Blu style kits as they can get costly.

If you like the disposables, it will be soon time to move up to eGo style devices for a decent battery life and larger fluid capacity.

From there you'll be modding like the rest of us...

Try to find a local shop, they will help you out finding what's right for you and should offer a ton of knowledge.

I started with an e-cig lookalike from a Vape Store in my area to see if I would even like vaping. Trying to sift through the thousands of posts on ECF can be overwhelming. Pete Busardo is a popular e-cig reviewer. I recommend looking at his page Introduction page. ECF member baditude has a blog on starter kits for beginner vapers. Take a look at these, then post what questions you may have.

Here are some links to some of the more popular cigarette like starter kits :)

This is one I picked up at a smoke shop and really liked. Logic Power Series Starter Kit - Regular & Menthol
Have you ever tried a disposable? You may want to pick one up at a local store, and give it a try before you buy anything. It will help you get an idea on the performance of the smaller products. If it doesn't seem like that would do it for you, maybe look into something a little bigger.ElectronicStix.Com · Kanger EVOD 650mAh Starter Kit This is little bigger, but not freakish. About the size of a swisher sweet cigar.

I would recommend an evod kit. 2 batteries, 2 evod tanks, charger, and 5 extra coils. Add juice and this could keep you going for a couple of months. This will seem big to begin with, but it is really a pretty small device. More like cigar sized. Evods are pretty easy and there are some youtube vids that can help.

For a cigarette style I would recommend the Halo G6.

But personally, I would suggest a Halo Triton or a Joytech eGo-T ecig with a clearomizer. The batteries will last longer, using the clearomizer is a LOT cheaper than the cartomizers that the cigarette style ecigs use, and it's the easiest and most trouble free setup. They're a little larger than a cigarette, but not a lot larger, and they produce more vapor than the small cigarette style ones do.

For a first time user it's almost impossible to find an easier, more trouble free setup. Simply unscrew the top of the tank (drip tip), fill the tank with your favorite liquid, screw the top back on and you're set for the rest of the day. If a battery dies you unscrew it, screw a freshly charged one on, and you're ready to go. The batteries typically charge in under 2 hours and you can get batteries with high mAh ratings that will last a full day or more on a single charge.

Starter kits for a good Joytech eGo-T or Halo Triton starter kit will cost over $50. You can get other brands of eGo style kits for less from other places, but I hear a lot more complaints from the budget ones.

Once in a while you'll have to clean or replace the coil in the tank, but those just unscrew and screw back in. Simple. New coils cost between $5 and $15 for a pack of 5 and I've yet to have one last less than 2 months with regular cleaning. Other than liquid you should have no additional costs for a year or more.

I can personally say that this is a great little kit. I got myself one for a back up, and just ordered another one for my granddaughter who wants to get into vaping. Also, the shipping was fast and the customer service is excellent and personal, if you should need it.:)

If you go this route, use the code ECF at checkout and get 10% off, and also it's free shipping.

Hey look at that!
Everyone's recommending good kits that match the request!!
Yay!
I would have posted a couple already mentioned - (EVOD kits, or with Halo, I'd get the Triton at least - a little thicker, but more likely to keep you happy) - I'm just saying it's nice that we're not seeing people telling the original poster that he should immediately get a mech-mod, an RBA and wrap sub-ohm quad-micro-coils.
:)

FYI...trying the 7-11 disposables turned me off of ecigs for a long time. They just don't taste good but they do give u an idea of what the ecig world is about. That being said I just started vaping and have quickly moved up in the chain of devices. I know it's overwhelming but the people on here give awesome advice and after a few days of basically living on this forum I feel like I have such a better handle on all of this! Good luck...you are going to be fine...

I think you're looking for a battery that looks like a cigarette with the "filter" end serving as the juice chamber? You can get a starter kit that usually comes with 2 batteries and a pack of cartomizers (the filter looking part) that are pre-filled with e-liquid. You can also buy blank cartomizers that you can fill with liquid of your choice. I started with one of these and it worked quite well for me, it gave the appearance of a real cig and mimics the smoking experience quite well. Buying blank cartomizers let's you try different liquids so you can explore flavors that interest you while keeping the cigarette look and feel. I got a starter kit from Apollo online, they have a couple of kits like this and they also sell the blank cartomizers in 5 packs. Apollo had a reasonable price, especially when you use a coupon code. ECF has a coupon code for Apollo. A big factor in choosing Apollo was the fact that they offer a lifetime warranty on their equipment. I had one battery go bad and they replaced it with no hassle. As far as ease of use it wasn't too hard, filling and refilling a carto takes a little patience, you have to add a few drips of liquid at a time to soak the filling in the carto, putting too much at once will result in a mouthful of liquid, and nobody wants that! The carto also needs to sit for a few minutes before use to avoid dry hits.I usually kept a spare filled so I could just switch them out.

I will say that it wasn't long before I was ready for a more advanced mod, but I didn't regret my initial choice, I think the cigarette look and feel were a big factor in being able to quit smoking.

Hope this helps you, welcome to the wonderful world of vaping, it's a pretty cool journey.....

O.K.
Everyone slow down....

First thanks so much for the posts.
Lots to look at.

These kits everyone one is suggesting, are they "turn key", ready to go out of the box?
Nothing else needed?

Also some seem to have different types of batteries?? Automatic or manual? whats the difference? pors/cons?

Maybe a better question might be can I screw this up?

If you go with the Halo G6 you can get the pre filled cartos and screw them onto your battery (once charged) and you are ready to go. With the tank systems that everyone is also suggesting, while larger, all you have to do is fill the tank with juice, screw it on to your battery (once charged), and vape. Easy peasy.

Automatic batteries will fire once activated by your "sucking" power. The manual batteries are activated when you push the little button. Most folks prefer the manual batteries, but the automatic batteries will probably seem more natural to you if you are seeking a "cigarette-like" experience. I started with automatic batteries, but with the G6 kit, you can get one of each to see which one you like best.

I think my biggest problem with th cigalike was that I didn't know what I was doing. I suggest you go to the ECF archive & look up inhaling technique.

Most of the ones I've seen at the 7-11come with the automatic battery that turns on when you start to inhale, so you have to take a pre-drag, then pull your vape. When you pull your vape, it should be a slow pull, 3+ seconds. Hold the vapor in your mouth for a bit, then inhale.

If you try to smoke it like a cigarette you'll be disappointed & probably blame the cigalike. There are plenty of good reasons to prefer something other than a cigalike, but the whole vaping principals are still the same. They deliver nicotine just like they should.

I also wouldn't be too worried about what the thing looks like. I think you'll enjoy the experience much more with an E-Go than a cigalike. But it's ultimately up to you.

I bought two Blu packs and regret it, as now I have an Evod and am loving it. Wish I had done that first.

I really, believe the power factor of stepping up just above the cigarette looking e-cigs will greatly influence your opinion of how effective e-cigs can be. It also reduces the chances of being caught in a lot of the marketing pitfalls, or ineffectiveness of the cig-a-likes. Trying the disposables is a great idea. If you go through that and it isnt cutting it. The simple step up to the ego style battery can make a huge difference. This gives you access to better tanks and batteries that last long enough to get through a day.

I went from a mistic cig clone to a small variable mod and if I didn't, I don't think the power factor would have been enough. Everyone is different. I wanted a more powerful cig-a-like too. I got over that in 1 day after purchasing something far far better. Instead of tolerating vaping it instantly became the better and more enjoyable choice. Again, power factor combined with - it does it all for me, made transitioning unbelievably easier.

If I only had my $26 ego spinner battery. I'd be ok. Even that next step up from the cig a likes is drastic IMO. It is night and day.

You don't have to go nuts to get something truly effective IMO. Spinner and a mini protank and seriously, I'd still never smoke again. That next inch up comes with a huge bump in quality.

Here's a size comparison.

L-->R
Bic
Itaste VV3 (great)
Vision spinner 400 mah + mini protank
Cig-a-like

If you just go from the cig-a-like to the spinner.
The difference is huge.
