Basically it breaks down like this:

Cartomizers are 1 piece units with the atomizer and cartridge combined and are intended to be disposable (though they can be refilled a few times from what most users say)

Atomizers can be used with cartridges or dripped onto directly. (Both the atomizers and cartridges can last a good while with maintenance and care)

Alright! I am starting to fully understand what's going on here! This is great, you guys are AWESOME!

So, for starters we've decided to just get ONE Joye eGo kit (she wants to see if she likes it, and well I do too!) and one 30mL bottle of Menthol deliciousness to get started. Then! If everything goes as I want it to, then we'll order another kit for her and probably some drip tips among other accessories and provisions!

This is very exciting and awesome at the same time! Thank you all for being patient with me and giving me such excellent advice! I hope to be here for years to come and hopefully soon when the next newbie comes around I can supply him/her with some of the excellent advice you guys gave me! Putting in the order, let's hope the world sees one less smoker and ONE MORE VAPOR!!!

Yes vaping works well enough to stop smoking for most people, including many who smoked twice as many packs per day and even some who had no intention of quitting cigarettes.

A good start for light to moderate smokers and some heavy smokers - Joye 510 (3-piece by default) or KR808D-1 (2-piece aka Vapor4Life.com in colors and most prefilled carts are there). Joye 510 has less battery charge life (2-3 hours) unless you get the long mega xl batteries - then it has the same battery charge life as standard KR8 batteries or about 3-5 hours, less if vaped heavily. I was a 1.5 PAD smoker and I use both - KR8 w/ carto and 510 w/ a carto. I like cartos on both. 510 can be used as a 3-piece (w/ cart and atty) or a 2-piece (w/ cartomizer). More prefilled cartos available for KR8, greater variety of parts and blank cartos available for 510. Whatever you use you will be refilling with ejuice.

If you are a heavy smoker, hard dragger, or need or want 6-8+ hour battery life, then skip the slim cylindrical ones and look at Ego and Riva 510 which also allow the use of harder hitting power-hungry low resistance parts.

Congrats! You and your wife will both love it. Also, don't feel bad if you don't quit 100% on day one, I went through 2 packs of cigs over about 3 weeks before I switched completely.

You've made an excellent choice! I too picked the eGo and I love it! It's easy to use, has great battery life, and I haven't had a cigarette since I bought mine almost 3 weeks ago. The eGo and the liquid are all you need to get started. Keep us posted as to what you think of it once you receive it and start vaping.

Make sure and watch the Mistress Nomad videos in the stickies up top! She has been very very helpful to alot of folks starting out! Also there's alot of you tube videos that will give you an idea of what this is about!
30 year smoker here and now 3 months smoke free! My wife also! My mom a 50 year smoker also smoke free! It does work!
Also the comment about ego being cigar sized! While it is slightly bigger round than a cigarette it is not huge by any means! Smaller in diameter than a dime! The battery life is crucial in the success of a vaporizer!

Y'all will be glad that you got the bigger battery ego, the Riva 510 that was suggested earlier is the same thing, only a clone for ALOT less money, just something to think about.
Personally I went from smoking 3-5 packs a day to vaping, and love it! To me the most amazing thing I. The world is that I actually don't want to smoke! Sometimes I do get a little craving, get grouchy, but I just VAPE a higher nic level for a little bit and it all goes away, I never smoked menthols, but loved them when I started vaping. They made me feel like I had just had a smoke, very refreshing! I also have asthma and most days I could barely breathe, it's been 34 days since I smoked, and it's like night and day. I barely have to use my inhalers anymore. Congratulations! Y'all can do it! And if both of y'all are light smokers, you might be able to get a whole day out of each of those batteries, my wife can. I can't, but as I said I was smoking ALOT, so I VAPE ALOT too.
Here's a good site to look at juices for ordering from later, they're a great value. I ordered from them and was very happy with their quality, and happier with their prices.

Did I mention that I'm glad y'all chose the ego over the Joye 510? The ego lasts 6-12 hours, I only got twenty minutes out of my Joye 510 batteries.

As soon as this badboy arrives, I will reply back in this thread on what I think/ or if I have other questions (which I assume most of you know, I will! ) I too am glad I went with the eGo, hearing about it's longer lasting battery is very much refreshing (especially since we'll be sharing the first kit at first to see if we like it!)

On another note, I ordered the Super menthol-ly liquid in the 18mg nico-amount to start off. This way I can gauge if the menthol is too minty or not and if I need the 24mg or not.

Truthfully, I am so excited right now! I just came back from buying a couple of packs of 'analogs' but hopefully soon that will be a pain in my past! Thank you all again, I will be back very soon!

Great choice on the ego! I was using a 510 for over a year and felt I still needed analogs just in case the battery died. Got my ego-t last week and haven't needed an analog since. Battery and vapor on these things is great. You wont regret it!

Quick update!

Now, someone needs to tell him who has the best menthol juice. I'm not a menthol vaper, but lots of people are particular about which menthol juice is closest to the real thing. Some recommend dissolving menthol crystals in alcohol to make an additive for tobacco flavored juice, others recommend a favorite menthol vape.
