I got a phone call yesterday which I missed, and didn't get the message until after the corporate office was closed for the day. I'm gonna call back shortly on my way to work and let everyone know how it goes when I get home... Wish me luck!

Ok here's what I was told...
"The electronic cigarette is something new, something that the company has to be careful with in choosing how to deal with. We need to figure out the best way to handle this in regards to what they say about our company, our employees, and our customers. E-cigs are something that are being discussed, and we need to do more research and better understand them before we can come to a clear decision as to what our position is going to be. In the interim, we have to say that the answer to your question is "No, you cannot use these items within the store." This isn't to say it's out of the question, just that it may be some time before we can consider approving them for use at work."
On that note, I'd like to say DAMMIT! Hopefully, some of our competitors will take a leap of faith and allow it, and my employer will follow suit. Good luck to anyone else out there that's trying to get permission from his/her employer!

That stinks for you, I'm sorry. I have to say though, that sounded like a reasonable stance, if they weren't in fact speaking in "corporate speak." Did you offer to help them research?
Not exactly, but I did provide a few links for them in my original e-mail. I hope they make use of them!
