    Welcome to ECF:thumbs:
The same thing was happening to me when I first started, I quickly realised it was the sub-ohm tank I was using and was more suited to MTL vaping. So I got a MTL tank, the Zenith, and I was very happy! No more coughing or throat pain when I vape.
You are using a sub-ohm tank with your mod now so you may be better off with a MTL tank too.
    Good Luck:D

This may be a winning solution. Cigarettes are MTL.

Could be the juice, some are quite harsh. Did you try playing around with wattage and airflow? Tell us your coil resistance, nic mg, and the pg/vg ratio of your juice. Also the name of your tank.
When asking questions keep in mind not all of us will be familiar with your gear so give us all the information of what your using.
So my juice is 75% vg and it’s the Vaporesso luxe nanno with skrr-s tank. I keep the wattage at about 45. There are so many different menus in here I have no idea which one is best! Cheers

    It worked for me!
I received the fantastic advice about what I should have done right here on ECF, now I'm passing it along.
    I feel honoured:thumbs:
Heh. I remember feeling the same once. It will pass quickly. Welcome to the league of those who give random advice to the new when they’re bored. It can be strangely addictive. Dunno why.

Bit high perhaps but not too terribly bad for a B&M shop. It’s a decent full featured device at least. It’s the people who get stuck with SMOK devices I feel sorry for.

So you tried the low wattage work up thing already. Hmm. You said you tried it at 25. What happened?
At 25 it still hurt and barely any smoke was coming out. I current set it at 45 and my resistance thing says 0.19 on my tank screen but my coil says “0.15 50-80W” then below it says best 65-75w

Pg can be harsh, I vape mainly 70vg/30pg direct to lung and even at that ratio took some getting used to,and I only use 3mg nic, when I vaped mouth to lung I could use upto 12mg nic with no problem, it depends on your vaping style and how much nic/pg your setup, lots of info here, more information needed to try to help you, with direct to lung you don't need as much nic as mouth to lung, the coughing will stop after a day or two if you are dtl but it's trial and error until you get the vape you are comfortable with
Mine is 75% vg. Shouldn’t be as harsh then right?

Ah. The menu thing I might be able to help with. Most of those menus are useless with that tank. Anything that says “TC” or has a type of metal in its name you don’t need. That’s all Temperature Control stuff. Ignore it. There should be a menu called “watts”. that’s the only one you want to mess with for a good long while. Everything else is advanced stuff you wont care about now and may not care about ever.

A bit less. It shoots the PG problem in someplace delicate anyway. It’s not impossible you’re so PG sensitive that even 75/25 is too much PG but it’s not very likely. I’m still thinking the most likely solution is what @Daniel Forsyth said, but getting another tank may take awhile so maybe getting something useful out of what you got in the meantime is worth a shot. You’ve got a VV mod already so you can put any 510 atty on it. I wish those coils weren’t mesh. Mesh coils don’t MTL well. They’re generally either off or gonzo mega vape.

Let’s give it a shot anyway though. Gonna change the voltage down even farther though. You started at 25w. Try 10w and see what happens. Maybe nothing. If nothing try 12, and bump it a few watts every time giving it a second to cool between each. Do it till you get only a little vapor to come out. No wild spitting no giant clouds, just a whisp.

Hi I understand all the mtl stuff but this vape I bought was a starter kit! Shouldn’t it have all the right stuff anyway?

The guy told me it was a DTL vape and that’s what I wanted. I’m honestly just going to take it back.

Thank you all for your help! It’s been a real struggle getting of the smokes. This new vape certainly isn’t helping. For more information so everyone knows. It’s a Vaporesso Lux Nano with a skrr-s mini tank. I’m smoking 78% vg juice 6mg nicotine from Vapoureyes NZ flavour fruit rollups. (will take suggestions on better juices) The problems I’m encountering are; absolutely no flavour, taking hits hurts the first few (it’s not a burnt coil I have had one before and tasted the diff) and battery life absolutely ..... So thanks again guys!

It can be a struggle starting out; as a new non-smoker, a MTL type draw/device is a bit more natural of a transition.
Jump onto youtube and watch a few videos of folks using your exact device.
Mimic the strength and duration of the reviewers inhale and your experience should improve.
In general, new users do not draw with enough force/strength. The device you have can not be used with a cigarette type inhale; slow and gentle. A sharp, strong, fast inhale is what the tank wants/needs to function correctly.

Your coil also sounds a bit flooded, if you have primed the coil and allowed it to sit for a while, the "dry pulls" may have over saturated the coil; cover the mouthpiece with a bit of paper towel and flick or shake the unit in a downward motion to expel any excess juice on the coil into the paper towel. When drawing through the unit, it should not gurgle or spit juice when you are not firing the coil.

Depends on the definition of “right”. It’s apparently a DL starter kit. There is a limit to how much variation a given atty can handle. It seems to be too big a range requirement to be able to really do everything. The ones that are good at DL usually do MTL poorly at best, and visa versa. As a starter kit there are generally two different coil cartridges that have different properties. One may serve you better than the other. I don’t know what the particulars for your atty are.

One thing you want to consider, the guy at the shop set up your first coil and all was well. But often kits come with two different coils... one higher resistance than the other. So the wattage the vape shop guy set your mod to with the first coil probably won’t work with the other coil you got.

If you haven’t taken it back yet, look at the box. In the fine print it should tell you what coils were included. When you get more coils, get the ones you used first that worked for you.

I do understand the frustration. Same for me when I first started. Wonky gear that worked then didn’t for no apparent reason about drove me up a wall lol.

The guy told you it’s what you wanted? He may have been referring to the mod (the bottom battery bit). It’s a very versatile mod. It may also depend on what the store was selling. It may have been the thing they had that best fit the things you said you wanted out of a device.
