My good God. I agree with you there. Just got mine loaded up after cleaning and this thing is a beast. I would give it a full ten if I could get the top plastic off. Its like its glued on or so tight I can't move it. Going to be a pain to change heads. I'm afraid to give it more force and break the only one I have. If it wasn't for that it would be an enthusiastic two thumbs up and a 10 out of 10
Sometimes it's hard to get a solid grip. Once in a while I gently grab the center metal section with pliers and then screw off the top plastic section. I'm not sure if you are trying this but if you try to take the whole top off of the base in one piece, it is impossible. Has to be broken down from the top, down.
I just got a 2nd splitfire in the mail, this one screwed down onto my provari without any issues, unlike the first one which was tilted to one side the first time it was attached. I love the air holes on these, I think the vivi nova had it in this style for a while, that way I can screw it down flush on my provari and still pull air through it.
Tschmeck. If you like a slightly tighter draw and I think more flavor and vapor, try jamming a wooden toothpick in one of the holes. I prefer the vape much more like that. Did it to all six of mine. I push it in, clip it with nail clippers leaving a tiny stub so you can remove it easily if you need to.
It keeps the juice separated from the main tank. Normally, the juice and the head is in the same tank, turning it a dark color. It's a guess only, but I believe it helps improve the flavor.
That there keeps the vapor's condensation from dripping back in the juice, awesome

I have one now. Just don't know about it yet. I seem to get a little dry hit once in awhile. I'm just used to the vivi. I think I will plug one of the air holes. It seems to me it sucks the juice up better.
just re adjust your wick pull them down and up a little, that willusually help the wicking improve, you can play around with it and see what works best, pulling the wick down, or leaving a little loop( U ) at top and see which performs better for your juice.

The bottom of the tank holds up to 3ml of ejuice and is separated by the top air chamber by a metal plate with 4 drilled holes for the wicks. Each head has two ~2ml wicks giving you four lead wicks that descend into the juice chamber for extra wicking. This is similar to our Vision Grande 4 wick-lead system.
Fully disassembled you can replace both poly carbonate tanks and coil/wick heads. We have replacement coil/wicks available in 1.8ohm, 2.4hm and 2.8ohm as well as various colors of 2 piece tank covers.

I like the SplitFire, didn't really know how good Hush tasted until I tried it on the SplitFire. I've only vaped for 10 days now and have only tried the Stardusts and the Phoenix Reborn 2.6-2.8ohm bottom coils, but the SplitFire beats both. I have to say that at first, for about 2/3 of the first tank the SplitFire did not produce lots of vapor. I kept switching to the Reborns, which are vapor beasts, looking for satisfaction. At about a third of a tank left on my first tank, the SplitFire suddenly started to produce lots more vapor. I have no idea what happened as I did not tinker with it at all. I'm finishing now the second refill and it still tastes great and produces lots of vapor.
So far, I like the SplitFire the best. The Reborns are vapor beasts but not so good on taste. The Stardusts are good on both but not as good as the SplitFire. I find the Reborns are good with 50 States juice when I have an analog craving. For all day vaping though, the SplitFire is best for now. I have the new Titan (the Screw Tank, lol!) coming soon and we'll see how it compares.
PS: I'm using the SplitFire at 3.9 volts on an SLB VV 900 mah passthrough. The only issue I have with the SplitFire is that its positive pole sticks out too far below the 501 threads and keeps pushing the SLB's center pole in, if I over tighten it (no big deal as I can just pop it out easily enough). If I tighten it just to the point of contact then it is wobbly on the battery. I believe I had already pushed in the center pole on the SLB battery previously by overtightening the Stardusts on it, my newbie mistake. On my Ego-T 3.7 volt passthrough the SplitFire sits a little tighter than on the SLB but still wobbly.
Edit: On leaking, the SplitFire hasn't leaked at all, zip, nada. The Stardusts are finicky, they seem to leak a bit down the tube once in a while, which I can clear by sucking on the mouthpiece hard (is this what you call flooding?). The Reborns have also been finicky. A new one, on first fill, dumped the whole tank. I was about to throw it out when I decided to take it apart. I took the center tube out then put it back in. Put in a little juice and it leaked. Then I pushed the tube in a lot harder with the point of a phillips screwdriver and it clicked/snapped into place. Then it never leaked again and have refilled it a couple of times. It seems the tube was not seated properly from factory.
Disclaimer: These are my preliminary newbie experiences with these devices. I have a lot more testing to do before reaching firm conclusions.

I really love my splitfire tanks..........When you first fill it...take the top off and drop a drop or two onto the coil and a little on the wicks in the top section........this will help it get started right away.
That post that is extending too far on the bottom can be adjusted somewhat......but I personally use 510 to 510 adapters on all my mods. There is so much deviation in everything we screw onto them.........I'd rather take the chance on messing up an inexpensive adapter than the post or threads in my mod...........Just my

Hey. that's a good idea yiddles! I'll definitely get some adapters, thanks for the tip! I had wicked the SplitFire properly before using it the first time. Dropped three drops of juice right into the coil and let it sit for a good 10 minutes. I could see the wicks getting wet as they drew up the juice. And like I said, I had vaped about 2ml already before it started to really put out vapor. Maybe I learned just the right draw/pressure, who knows? It's a mystery, hehe!
Had another Reborn empty its tank on me after I sucked on it hard. Took it apart and I think I figured out what is going on. the center post has nothing to do with it, it is the plug that sits on top of it. If this plug lets any air in it will leak. I cleaned it, dry burned it, put the center post back in, not much force needed at all, then made sure the top plug was pushed all the way in and seated evenly around the tube. Voila! works again without leaking. Vaping on it now. A little juice will appear at the bottom once in a while but very small amounts, definitely not a leak.
I'm primarily a tank user, prior to the splitfire my favorite was the vivi nova. I've tried all manner of DCTs, ego-t, the SRT, the Phoenix Bully, pretty much any tank that gotvapes carries, I've tried it. So far, the SplitFire is my new favorite. I initially had an issue with threading it onto my Provari, but I ordered a 2nd one (I hate returning things), and it's pretty awesome. The first one threaded unevenly and shorted out constantly, then wouldn't screw down tight at all and stopped working altogether. I like the base on these a lot, I think the Vision or the Vivi Nova used to have the same style base where the holes are not on the threading post, which allows me to screw it all the way down onto the Provari without restricting air flow. I am using a tip someone gave me in another thread, because I like a hard drawer, I have a tooth pick stuffed into one of the holes. The plastic/polycarbonate seems pretty strong since I drop the damn thing on an almost daily basis.
The SplitFire continues to perform on its third tank. Just got in more Hush, just in time as I was running out, and a type B sleeve just to figure out what it does. And what do you know, no more wobbly SplitFire! So I got one of each type of sleeve in case I'm missing something else lol.
