Today's history lesson comes with a $25 Ms T's gift certificate! You may need to do a little research to find the answer, but I think I have given enough info for someone to be able to find it. Here is what I am looking for:
Tell me the name of the mountain I am thinking of. You can use the hints below to help you find it, and it probably isn't common knowledge for most people. The first person to correctly name the mountain wins a $25 gift certificate!
This mountain is referred to by some as the “navel of the world”. There are many places that are called that by various cultures, but I am looking for this one in particular.
This mountain is recognized as the most sacred place by the roughly 11,000 residents of a nearly 4,400 square mile area that belongs to them within the United States southwest. The “creator” is said to live in a cave under this mountain. This mountain is also the supposed center point of creation, according to this culture.
This culture considers this picture of a labyrinth to be a map with directions to the house of the "creator":

The occupants of this land are governed by a council that they appoint. Outside of this culture, the first mention of the mountain was by a Jesuit missionary in 1699 who the first to “bring Christianity” to these people. Of course, Spanish missions were established in the area. One particular mission was built in the area in 1700, which still stands today and is frequently visited. It stands like a gleaming white dove in the desert. Their ancestors lived on a diet of tepary beans, squash, saguaro fruit, cholla buds, and the bean pods from mesquite trees.
This group also leases another mountaintop to the US to house a well-known observatory with 22 optical and 2 radio telescopes.
Surely that's enough info to help someone find the answer pretty easily, but if no one gets it fairly soon, I'll post more hints. Remember, I'm looking for the name of the mountain that is the navel of the world, NOT the mountain on which sits the observatory. Good luck!!
Edit: And remember, the prize for the FIRST to correctly identify the mountain wins a $25 Ms T's gift certificate!!!
