Pressure causes leaking when the only escape path for that pressure is forcing liquid through the slot. Both ends are the same. The slot in the carto is all the way to one of them. You'd flip it so that the slot in the carto is at the top and fill it until just before liquid reaches the opening. Liquid in, air out through the polyfill.

I can't test this just yet until my tubes arrive, but I'd be shocked if it leaked.
I've tried both ways. Sometimes good, sometimes not. YMMV, but I'm using 2$ getto grommet & polycarbonate tubes. :). Not rocket science if it works. ;)

This looks perfect for a stopper, but I don't want 10000 of them. Rubber Plug & Rubber Stopper - China Rubber Plug,Rubber Stopper,Cap Plug in Rubber Products

I think whatever is used for a stopper, really needs to have a groove on it (on the part that will be inside the tank), so that it's held in tight. [ETA]- I see that Bill posted the idea of using the plunger from a 3 ml syringe as the stopper, and this is what is used on the Chopper tank that I have. It works like a charm, and IMO is a genius solution. I do have to figure out the correct drill bit size for it though, as my first port was too big and didn't seal all the way with the plunger.

pretty sure anything in the side of the cylinder would leak. What's wrong with just filling it with a syringe like in the video? Or for that matter, just sliding the carto down like a liquintor?

Filling with a syringe is a PITA and with a fill hole on the side you won't get the pressure buildup inside like you do when you fill with a syringe. The Chopper tank does not leak, and it's got a fill hole. It can be done. :)

I've been using these tanks for around a month now, no problems with them whatsoever. For dual coils i like to make the big 7ml ones. No leaking, i even sat on one by mistake ( forgot i had it in the back pocket ) and it didnt leak. Costs me 30 cents to make one here, and performance depends on how good the carto performs. Usually a 1.25 ohm dual coil keeps its good flavour for 25-30ml of juice consumption.

Very nice picture and a good looking unit. When you said you liked the 7ml ones, are you saying you use a 7ml syringe to make your tank??? Also how do you cut your syringe?

I finally got one made. I abandoned the fill hole idea for now since I couldn't seem to get the size just right. It works well. Filling with a syringe is annoying, but drilling hole after hole in plastic and finding my syringe plunger didn't seal correctly was annoying too.

Wyojoe- I don't know what matruxu used to cut his syringe, but I picked up a small tubing/pipe cutter at the Tractor Supply place, where I got the syringes. It was about $8.50 and it works fine. It doesn't have a handle, like the one in the video does, and I can see where that would be easier on your hand (lots of twisting), but it works well enough to cut some syringe pieces out.

Here's mine

I didn't push the top plunger in all the way so that it would be easier to fill with the syringe.

Thanks for the great picture (love it) and info on the pipe cutter. Good idea not pushing the top plug down so it makes it easier to pull and fill. What size syringe did you make your tank out of?

I imagine I will have to be more careful with it, with the plunger not pushed all the way in, but it seems to be sealing just fine for now.

I used a 20 cc syringe, and that's on a go-go carto, which holds ~3 ml, so not a standard sized carto (not sure if everyone else is using the larger cartos?).

Thanks for the reply. I will make one of the 20cc tanks next week. From what I see on the ECF people are using all kinds and sizes of carto's in their mods, so the only differences is the length of their tube.

Is is possible to cut the syringe with a dremmel?
Yes, I think the dremmel would work very well. You will need to make sure you get a straight cut on the ends with out it being cockeyed. But if it is, you can use the dremmel to straighten it out by pushing the blade against the edge of the tube.
