Don't you just hate it when that happens.LOL Let us know on your next one what you did and how it worked.

I filled up another and it worked fine. I didn't see much of a difference. Both of them were punched 'thrice' with the saddle punch. The only minor difference was that on the one that didn't work, the holes were a little bit higher on the carto. Like, maybe 1/4" higher?

Yeah, that stinks. I have only had 2 out of many that wouldn't wick properly and had to be thrown out. So, it doesn't seem to be a widespread problem.

That's what I'm hoping. I've had some that I rebuilt that didn't work right (go-go cartos can be disassembled, dry burned, and restuffed). That's a user error on my part, not getting the filler back in right. This one was brand new though. It's a mystery, but as long as it doesn't happen on every other one I'm okay with losing a few here and there.

Iffy had some theory about that, but I didn't understand it (not saying it's wrong. It just went over my head). I put my fill holes at the top so I can fill from the top and see that juice is wicking into the filler as I load it up. Maybe next time I fill up a new tank I will flip the tank over and have the fill hole at the bottom and see if there's any difference for me.

Can't speak for Iffy, but but with the plug out you've got an air leak in the tank and I've had juice run out the battery connector. I put the plug at the bottom so I can flip the tank upside down and fill with the slot above the fluid level.

I think that there may be some overthinking a non-problem regarding fill holes and punching. Iffy gifted me a bunch of tanks that were part of his first run. (no fill holes). I grabbed a DC carto, cut a little slot with a dremmel, grabbed a tank, put it together and filled it with a syringe slid between the rubber and plastic. It works like a champ. I've refilled it (about 5mls ) 4 times and it's going strong. No issues, no leaks, no flooding. Maybe the KISS principle?

Thanks again Iffy!

My first carto worked great as well. My 2nd one worked great until it started flooding the inside of the carto (didn't leak though). Then I got another one that didn't wick fast enough. So I'm not sure that calling it a non-problem is really the case. Just because you made one that worked (which I'm pretty sure most of us have had one that worked fine), doesn't mean that those of us who have had problems are just too dumb to know how. You've made one. Come back after you've used multiple cartos that have all worked flawlessly and then you can tell us your magical solution that none of us have found yet ;)

Okay, that makes sense. I put the plug in the bottom hole and then fill from the top. Some of the juice wicks up into the filler (reducing the volume of juice in the tank). Then top the tank off so it's completely full. I plug up the fill hole, take the bottom plug out and let a few drops drip out until it stops (sometimes it drips, sometimes it doesn't). I can see how doing it upside down would prevent any juice from dripping out. I will try that next time and see which method I like better.

Well, I've got 17 homemade carto tanks, plus 2 for Hubby, all worked perfectly from the beginning, each with a different flavor. I've used Boge cartos since I started vaping without tanks. Of course, I wouldn't vape a naked carto now since I've discovered, get ready, here it is ***{{{***cartotanks***}}}***. Throughout it all, I've only had 2 bad cartos that wouldn't wick for nuthin'.

Well my friends and I had a "Tank Party" last night, yes we're nerds...... We made 5 Tanks with Smoketech LR Carto's. I punched them (1 hole) with a 1/4" Saddle Valve Punch.
I placed the cart through the bottom plunger and put it inside the tube. Then I drip filled the cart from the top & kept filling it until I saw liquid seeping through the bottom hole...... At that point I thought "this is good and primed" I placed the top plunger on as well as a drip tip & started to vape.......
No leaks and been hitting it all of last night and all of today...... SO HAPPY! Don't know why but I was bored and made 5 more today (I might have a problem) but they will be nice stocking stuffers for my Vaping Friends!
Thanks for all the help, tips & tricks,
Alex

2nd time you've flamed me today without reading and understanding. Take a step back. Iffy made the tank.

We talking about the tank leaking or the carto? I thought the people you were replying to were talking about the carto leaking as they were saying that it's hard to gauge what size to make the holes, unless you didn't punch the cartos either in which case I'm not sure why you posted that you have had no problems with the parts you've made as in that case, you didn't make anything at all.....

Just as mature as saying that we must have no idea what problems we're talking about because there is no problem. Your carto that you punched yourself is working perfectly. Though apparently you have made any tanks yourself, nor punched any cartos yourself. I can look up the Florida state mental hospital for you if you want?

I don't care what it's called, cartotank, tankomizer, etc... They just work, and they work well. I can't bring myself to vape any other way.

Did you know that the modders are working on plans for internal or imbedded tanks in the mod, so the actual tanks are hidden from view? The end result would be a pv mod that vapes just like a tank mods, but all you'd see is the pretty drip tip because the refillable tank would be inside. Is that kewl or what?

How about tankomizer ?

Well, the 12ml didn't go well. Tried punching 4 plungers to get 2 decent ones. Man, are things tight with these, and a lot harder to work with, for me anyway. Too much work, so I'll stick with the 20ml's. I just like the look of a smaller in diameter tank over a fatter one.

Another thing to consider is grommets. Here's a tank I made yesterday from a ten ml. Punched a hole in the syringe cap and used a grommet for the top since the hole is already there. I also prefer the look of the narrower tank on my ego. As you can see I'm out and about vaping on it today :)uploadfromtaptalk1319063554613.jpg

Seems I saw one like that within the last day or two, darned if I can remember where tho. I remember looking at it and thinking, is that gonna be a bear to re-fill? It probably would come out easy enough tho.
