The zenesis is the only Ginny I have ever used, and I do find tha when wrapping a new coil it takes a while for the flavor to really start shining...I feel that breaking it in with a dark vg based liquid helps quicken this process up....it seems to gunk the wick and coil up faster and gets it really wicking in a hurry....also make sure wick is not touching top cap or metal in tank area...

With genny mavens like riddle and lorderos saying this is their fav genny, I think this lack of flavor is something you will get past, and not a zenesis trait

Good Morning all. just catching up so I am a little late on this but, I read in another thread that you could use a cigarette rolling paper on the wick and then drip juice onto it and burn it off. has anyone tried this and if so what do you think? Also I have not attempted to make my own wick yet and wanted to find out what everyone uses to oxidize their wicks? I don't have a mini torch or bunson burner. Are they really needed or will just using a lighter work? Where do I go about buying the mini torch and what is it called exactly? I am looking for the most inexpensive way to do it but want it done right so if I need to buy one I will. Thanks.

Ok, time for some real PV porn...
I got sick of knowing that I had a pv made of the best ss money can buy with such a mediocre finish, so I spent the past few hours posted at the buffing wheel polishing my Zenesis Standard #0078! I also modified my airflow hole to 5/64" and added a slight bevel (which I think is aesthetically pleasing as well as cuts down on the whistling noise when you take hard pulls from it". Running 4 wraps of 30g kanthal a-1 with some 400 mesh, and this baby is vaping like a cannon! Also should mention that I polished very internal component of the switch, including the washers and magnets. Hope everyone thinks it's as sexy as I do...

That is gorgeous. I love shiny things. What exactly do you use to do that? I have another SS mod that has a few scratches and I was trying to figure out how to polish them out. I know you said a buffing wheel. What exactly is that? I have a dremmel or rotary tool and a 228 piece kit that has some cloth like bits. Is there something in there that does that and would take the scratches out? Someone mentioned fine wet/dry sand paper? I just don't even know where to start. Tried googling it and found nothing.

EDIT: I do not plan on trying this when I get my Zen. I would be too afraid I would mess it up or make some kind of mistake. :ohmy:This is for another less expensive mod that is supposed to be solid SS. Also if you ever plan on selling that one let me know. i would love the number #78. That just happens to be my birth year. :)

The stock air hole is more than adequate, but since I've been running 3/4 wrap 30g kanthal a-1 coils, the added airflow vastly increases the vapor production. The hole might look a little bit bigger than it actually is in that pic b/c of the bevel I added.

Sweet....looks amazing. What polishing compound did you use to achieve that level of shine. May be something I want to do in the future.

Awesome! I bet that flavor will continue to get better as she breaks in. So glad to hear it seems to be coming together for you. :D

My standard is my first genesis atty that I've had so for me it's still a bit more trial and error. I'm still on the wick/wire setup that she came with. I haven't quite been getting the clouds I know she is capable of, and today decided to use my washers to shorten the throw of the switch as it seemed when I was getting nice clouds, I was pushing the button hard, and deliberately. With the extra washers under the screw, she seems much happier, and the great hits are coming much more often. I think scuffing the screw, and a little contact cleaner may help even more. I'll give that a shot tomorrow, and if It helps, I'll let ya'll know.

*edit* mine seems a bit light on flavor too, so I am interested to see where this goes :D

I know that folks tend to not want to touch anything once they get their Zenesis working well but I can almost guarantee you that your coil needs to be replaced and you should take a good long look at your wick as well.

When my Standard first arrived, I tinkered with it endlessly and put in several different wicks and many coils. I wanted to understand how the different mesh sizes worked with various juices and how different numbers of coils affected those wicks. After a week or so I was quite happy (325 mesh with 5/4 wraps lol) so I just let it go. A month later I felt the flavor had fallen off a bit so I decided to wrap a new coil. When I removed the old one there was enough gunky buildup that the coil wire was 4 or 5 times its original diameter!

When I wrapped the new coil I immediately got much better flavor. So good, in fact, that i decided to replace the wick as well. That yielded amazing flavor. I realized that as the wick/coil had broken in, been used, and then gotten "over-seasoned" I'd slowly been losing flavor but hadn't been aware of it since I was vaping my Zenesis almost exclusively. The difference a new wick/coil made was really astounding.

Since January I've acquired a total of 4 hybrids and 4 Genesis-style attys and I do the same process with all of them: I replace my coils every week to 10 days and my wicks every month. I'm very pleased with the results. I've tried various methods for "cleaning" the wicks and coils and find them to vary in effectiveness from "somewhat helpful" to "totally useless", but that's just me. Zen~ said way back in his original video that it is so cheap to replace wicks and coils that it isn't worthwhile to try and clean them and I agree. Toss 'em and start fresh!

So, I suggest that you replace your coil. Check out how gunky it is! If the wick is really gunky and/or "gritty" then replace it, too. I bet you'll be shocked by the difference in flavor ;)

Edited for terrible spelling and grammar.

Mine is electric. :( I can buy a torch or bunson burner, or whatever it's called if someone tells me what it's called I can find one I'm sure somewhere.

You can probably get a small one at a kitchen supply store...the kind they use to carmalize creme brulee. I wouldn't think you need anything more than that.

I've been thru Penrose. It's just coming out of the mountains off HWY 50.........I'd take any small town over Colorado Spgs. You will probably like it alot.

Phew, I hope so dearme. My goal is to be near my daughter. They have no children and she's very lonely and bored out there. LOL Having said THAT, however, my "ex" lives with her. LOL Ugh, I'm just going to have to be mature, eh?
