I found I had a single wrap of a coil that was very loose. I decided to just vape it, I found my fairly light apple-bacco DIY juice turning darker than Boba's. I replaced the coil last night, and put in another fairly light juice. I have not seen the darkening I did before. From limited experience I would say the loose coil caused the darkening. How bout you Zenfidels with more experience?

Just curious, has anyone received a notification on the quartz tanks at all this week? I've been checking the site every day, and I haven't received any notifications. I could really use one or two ..or five. I haven't been vaping ever since day two with my ti zenesis when the tank broke. Last week zen said he puts (or has been putting) quartz tanks on the site everyday and that they sell out within minutes. It kind of sucks having a $500 dollar APV that I waited almost three months for which I cannot use because of a lack of replacement tanks.

Can't wait for my Standard to come in. Hopefully either the standard delivers or replacement tanks get restocked sooner than later. Either way, I'm not vaping until one of those two things happens.

Pretty sure a loose coil could impact performance in several ways..
From what I've experienced (though not on a Zenesis yet, but I can't imagine it would be any different), is that a loose coil will heat faster than the rest as its not getting juice from the wick.
You want to minimize any resistance wire that isn't directly contacting the wick. This is also why Zen~ talks about pulling the top of the wick close to (but not touching) the top post.. Minimizes the amount of exposed resistance wire that's not getting wet..

Good Morning all. just catching up so I am a little late on this but, I read in another thread that you could use a cigarette rolling paper on the wick and then drip juice onto it and burn it off. has anyone tried this and if so what do you think? Also I have not attempted to make my own wick yet and wanted to find out what everyone uses to oxidize their wicks? I don't have a mini torch or bunson burner. Are they really needed or will just using a lighter work? Where do I go about buying the mini torch and what is it called exactly? I am looking for the most inexpensive way to do it but want it done right so if I need to buy one I will. Thanks.
I have not because it seems to me it would add unnecessary carbon. I have used a bic lighter in a pinch and don't recommend that either. A mini torch can be had for as little as $10 from Harbor Freight. Zen said he has them too!

What you want is the hotter blue flame. Some report success with a stove top. Mine is electric!

Looking pretty good, how is it firing?

How did you get the screw out?

Seems to be firing better. I have 100% VG juice getting here tomorrow so I went 400 mesh. This wick seems to wick MUCH better so im not having to tip it parallel. It seems to wick great at 45 degrees. Took me a sec of messing to figure out I was flooding at parralel. The other challenge is I have vapped too much since getting it and was getting dry hits. My throat is raw plus I suspect I am getting a cold. That makes judging flavor a challenge.

I don't think I'm getting dry hits now - where before at parallel i would still get a dry hit if the drag was long.

Now I am tasting more flavor through soar throat and congestion. I nose exhale still burns a touch but it feels like nic burn more than a dry hit type burn.

Big rubber band and elbow grease got the screw out. I crashed frustrated and vapeless last night (ran out of cartos...) and tried again this morning. My thumbs are bruised from trying to hold it tight enough to get the screw out. I was very careful with tension when I tightened down this new coil.

Thank you very much for the help by the way.

Ok, time for some real PV porn...
I got sick of knowing that I had a pv made of the best ss money can buy with such a mediocre finish, so I spent the past few hours posted at the buffing wheel polishing my Zenesis Standard #0078! I also modified my airflow hole to 5/64" and added a slight bevel (which I think is aesthetically pleasing as well as cuts down on the whistling noise when you take hard pulls from it". Running 4 wraps of 30g kanthal a-1 with some 400 mesh, and this baby is vaping like a cannon! Also should mention that I polished very internal component of the switch, including the washers and magnets. Hope everyone thinks it's as sexy as I do...

The stock air hole is more than adequate, but since I've been running 3/4 wrap 30g kanthal a-1 coils, the added airflow vastly increases the vapor production. The hole might look a little bit bigger than it actually is in that pic b/c of the bevel I added.

Very nice, shiny is good!!! Just a PITA to keep clean. I am truly amazed that the laser etching survived the polishing process too. A little faded, but still there. Good stuff bro!!
