Keep us posted, I have a feeling a lot of us will be going through this in the coming months. Give a good play by play!

Looks like it's time for a new wick. It's been light on flavor, and now that I've cleaned all of the contacts up, it's hitting harder and the wick can't seem to keep up. Lots of nasty hits. I think I'm going to give 325 a shot, and a 4 wrap. This is my first at building a coil and wick setup. I've watched the video's a bunch of times before. The Jack Frost method is sounding tempting. I'm a lil nervous about this.

Sooo, time to run to Target and grab a prescription for my wife, then I'll get started. If you have words of warning/ encouragement/ advice, feel free to holler! :D

Ti Owners, anyone else noticed our fill holes are countersunk? It's suppose to help drain fluid back to the tank more readily.

Also, anyone noticing that their fluid doesn't darken as quickly in the Ti Standard? Seems to stay cooler, but this is my first Standard so I wasn't sure if it's the larger tank or that heat is not passing to the tank as easily preserving the fluid longer.

I also notice the top cap doesn't make contact with the Quartz tank by a hair (I could possibly force it, but seem smarter to leave a tiny gap), this may prevent heat transfer from the top cap to the tank and avoid it from potentially smashing into the tank during a fall.
A few nights ago, I went to fetch my Ti in the dark from out of my livingroom. My Ti slipped out of the wooden coaster holder (forgot it wasn't in my usual plastic salsa holders (must be hard to order seltzer in a Mexican Resturant, but I digress) anywho... it hit my hardwood floor. It was fine without even a scratch. It sounded like the tank broke, but when I turned the light on it was just the top cap that came off. I was pretty happy about that.

Try it! Jack frost is the way & let us know how you like how quickly the flavor develops. ;-)

Link to Jack Frost Method? ...I'm curious what it is.

JACKFROST original posting~

Wasn't sure whether to start different thread for this but since it was done for an Orion V2.....

Its funny how you think you've got something nailed, try something else and realise just how wrong you were. Well the other day I made my best wick yet and had a desire to share the love . Thing is I had started to think (fairly rare, I grant you) about what was going on with the oxidisation of the stainless steel in a genesis wick. Now I know that its a topic that has had a lot of posts/videos etc already but I was still having trouble. Heating and quenching many times, even to the point of having the wick start to break up, still resulted in a short when measured on the multimeter. I was beginning to try different water for the quenching when it occurred to me that the quenching wasn't likely to be doing much for the oxidisation process and was just hardening the wick. So I cut a strip 30mm wide and attacked it with the blow torch before rolling. Didn't bother to quench it, just kept heating both sides until I got no continuity over the width. Then I rolled the wick after cutting a piece from the strip, slapped a coil round it without bothering to anneal the Kanthal (didn't even get it that tight) and fitted it. That was it ....no shorts...no hotspots...nothing except a fog of vapour!! Incidentally I was getting some fluctuating readings until I stopped using the points of the probes and used the sides, must have been cutting through the oxide layer and getting to conductive material underneath. Anyway if this helps someone I will be overjoyed, now if anyone has any tips on how to improve the flavour of 100% VG

Interesting! Thanks! I'll try that the next time I roll a wick.

Do you put a multimeter on yours to check the continuity? Or do you just go by the look of the oxidized mesh? If it's completely oxidized, both sides, it's good to go?

Just ordered some from there.....I can use this for work too, so an 8 oz can doesn't matter. Here is the link for any who don't mind picking up more than you may need for just this one use.

No-Ox-ID "A SPECIAL" - Storm Grounding

That is a good price for 8oz. I got mine for $20 shipped.

That much is going to last a long time, but it has many uses so it could be of value somewhere else in your homes too :).

I've done it twice. No metering, just by sight. I do pay extra attention to the cut edges. You will notice ( I do) one side will sparkle on torching more than the other. I used to fold under the edge the would be on the outside of the wick. No need to do that anymore! It is the easiest set up I have done with the least fiddling of the coils.

It's so freaking easy and effective, I feel like I'm cheating! :D

Im going to try it on my next coil change! thanks

PM sent, with trade offer. If yours can drive I will trade you my 17/yo who also does nothing unless you take away the video games and cell phone and i pad. Once those have been done he operates as designed.

Hey gang, I feel your pain! I have 15 and 16 year old grandsons. I affectionately refer to them as "Thud Bolderbrain" and "Turd Ferguson". The 16 year old is 6'1" and wears a size 15 mens shoe!

I'm almost happy to hear that mine aren't the only ones with those lazy traits...sometimes it feels like it. I want to regularly whack one of them! LOL

I just cleaned my switches, the threads on the switch and the threads on the Zenesis tube, the positive screw inside the tube and the negative screw on the switch with it. Others may do something different, but that's what I did. :)

Vic, what did you use to be able to reach/dab the positive screw inside the tube? I'm sure I'm missing a simple, elegant solution while I'm trying to make it difficult........I usually use a q-tip, but they are all too short to reach the inside screw.........

Would putting some on the positive battery end, then inserting the battery work?
