I actually wrapped this one myself. The first one was not that great. Tasted like machine oil. Everything is working ok with the coil.

If you're tasting burnt metal, you have a short somewhere on the wick. If not the the coil is warped too loosely and the juice is burning up and leaving a gap that is getting very hot.

If it is a short, you can fix it easily by shifting the wire a bit till the coil glows evenly or pull it apart and re-oxidize the wick and try again.

If the coil is not touching the wick everywhere then you will need to remove and wrap and coil it again. Putting a snug fitting needle in the wick helps tremendously when putting a new coil in. Pull the wire moderately as you wrap with a needle nosed pliers and you should end up with a good coil. Break it in and you should be able to vape happily again.

This gets much easier after doing it a few times so don't get discouraged. Soon you'll be making mesh/coils that last for months and take you just minutes to make.

Let's just say that the o-rings are self-lubing on mine (and that is not a plus). And no they are not swelling.

To be honest, I am a ....... I can't even get a hit right now because of the damn switch. I may have to get my old homemade bottom feeder out just so I can vape. I got one for my neighbor too and he is having similar problems with his switch, but it is a known issue at this point.

AAAAARRRRGHH!

What issues are you having with the switch. I took mine apart the day I got it and cleaned it up with alcohol (including the threads on the mod body and the switch. I reassembled it with a thin coating of noalox on everything and it works wonderfully.

Mine is a mini though and I don't have a standard yet to check that switch.

Also, my o-rings were nice from the start. The top cap is now fairly snug and holds on quite well. I am sure it will not move at this point unless I want it to. I hope your usage experience improves soon.

I'll post a Raidy tip here. Hopefully it'll help alot of new Geninis users.

Burn your wick a few times, like in Zens video.
Take a 1/4 x 1/4 inch piece of cigarette rolling paper, wrap it around the area where the coil will go.( it sticks better if wet).
Wrap your coil snug on the wick (over the paper).
Drip liquid on the wick, burn for a sec, drip, burn, drip, burn... Don't burn it red hot.
But do this till your coil looks nice and black.
Then just burn off the paper, or peel it off.
This creates a very nice insulator for the coil.

I have gaps between my coil and wick. I'll try re wrapping the coil and see where that gets me.

My switch was quite loose... and when l tried to tighten it the switch came clear off. My grandson put it back together for me and its snug and non wobbly. I havent vaped yet, still admiring it in its brand spanking clean and new mode. Maybe tomorrow I'll brave filling it and having a go.

Love my number!!

The wick appears to be wet and working and it does not turn bright red unless I hold the button down for a long time. I burned it for about five or six minutes and then about five minutes more. Still tastes terrible.

I took a bottle of premixed juice I didn't like and burned both of my wicks (the 400 that came with it and the 325 I made) for a good 30 to 45 minutes each. I'm thinking you may need to burn yours in longer.

Edited to add: Ooops, just saw that you noticed a loosely wrapped coil. Yep, that'd do it too. :)

This is my first gen type atty, so I'm learning still. I see a lot of people are having wicking problems still. When I went to boba's, I had to go to the 325 mesh b/c it's 100% VG. I couldn't get it to wick and I played with it, rewrapped it, tried bottle wetting it and burning several times, etc. What I ended up doing was to unroll it slightly, cut about a quarter inch off along the length, re-roll it, put it back in. Then I left the height about even with the center post nut so there was wick at the top that could get wet, but wasn't getting heat from the coil. I THINK that makes it easier to get it wet, and stay that way, if you are getting a lot of dry hits you might try this. I can pretty much just keep hitting on it and not get a dry hit now. I'm not saying yet it is the correct way or the BEST way, but I'm very happy with how it's running right now. Aside from switching to a high PG juice to all VG, I've not had any problems at all. From the time I switched to the VG until I got it burning right took about an hour - hour and a half.

I have now made 3 frankenatties and all three fire way better than any cartomiser so im good till my mini gets here. I know they are not zenisis but they are better than any carto ive used. I have done just about exactly what Hrathor suggests for the thick juice I vape and im very happy I also anealed the Kanthal to make it not so springy and wrap easier it works trust me..

Pics are horrible and I don't think they will help anyone much, but here are a couple shots...

"Haste makes waste"

This is a lesson well learned on the release of the zenesis... I pushed hard... Too hard... And now there are issues in the field.

For me the good news is there are far more happy people than upset... Which means there are isolated issues caused by my rush to get these things out to you.

I have learned that its far better for you to be upset by waiting then to be upset by having operational problems.

Everybody will get new switch buttons... And that means everybody. I'm replacing all of them. Everybody will get poly tanks as emergency rations.

There will never be another shipped with oil and all of them are being put through my dishwasher before final assemble.

I plan on getting the coil video recorded tomorrow.

I haven't been online today because the production is taking place.

To the folks sending me PMs, I can't work on the PVs and answer PMs at the same time.

We are close to the goal line... Please be patient... This has been a really steep learning curve but so far there are Far more people that are satisfied than dissapointed... My goal is 100% satisfied.

Thanks to all the Zenfidels that are jumping in to help those that are new to these devices. I really appreciate it!
