gruss next time you change a wick...since you use vg liquids.... fill up the tank half way and turn it upside down and fire it on and off till empty...this makes the break in time fast....you can get vg at your local wal-mart or drugstore. with a genesis gunk is your friend....helps wicking and insulates the coil from the wick, it is a fine line there, too much gunk is bad and too little is bad.

scratch the bobas (temporarily) when you get home and see if that makes any diff.

Bobba's out, Pluid in...

I'll do that. Got plenty of VG around. After most recent changes, I hope that won't be soon.

I think I'm onto something. To all:

That would put the date of that post in the alerts thread around the same time he posted here. I thought they were tied together and posted on the same night. I believe when he posted about the engraver, he also said it was a late delayed due to that vacation thing. I believe this is only the first delay since Mike announced when they would ship, the same time payment notifications went out. No rush here, but that is the way I thought it has been proceeding though, however I have been a little absent from the late night banter this week and Mike may have revised the info and I missed it somewhere.

Wow, this is somewhat confusing, but I'll try to be patient while waiting for the Shipping Notification. I've only checked my gmail about 23 times today, is that bad? lol...

nah, love the look not the weight and it is 18350, not my favorite...so made somebody else happy, which is better then keeping it and collecting dust

I have held one and I have to be honest, I was completely unimpressed -- just like with the wizard to me, its a nice but overpriced battery holder -- but , of course, it has a Portugese ship on it to make it primo!!!:D

Hi Ripple...Mike send it on Monday, dunno which Monday he means but a Monday....I ordered and paid on the 13th of June some replacement parts, I am sure he will also send that on Monday :2cool:

ROFLMFAO!!!! :lol::lol::lol:

Mamu yes, but wait, what about the GG's. They don't ? :) Unless you...... no you wouldn't give up the GG. ;) would you ?

Actually I never use VV, I found it unnecessary so yes, my merlin, denali, and minxy just sit there as well as my BP and Lavatubes.....I do use kicks in my GGs on occasion when I want to fiddle with stuff, they are nearly indestructible and thus will always remain a part of my arsenal....:thumb:

Did that with a sewing needle on both devices. Both coils light up when held vertically. Lights gradually go out from the bottom up when turned horizontal. After that they're okay for about two draws. Then they start burning. Open all the way through, but still I wonder.

grruss....
I didn't have an insulator on my aluminum when I got it.

Two things, and I'm no expert:
I, and others, have other genny type devices that don't use insulators. Others have used their Zens without an insulator.
It is said that with a well oxidized wick, an insulator is not necessary.
Now, I know Zen put one there for a reason, and I won't advise you to use an item that isn't "stock", but just to try to solve your problem, have you tried yours without the insulator, just to see if your coil is too close and burning the the PTFE and/or if there is a problem with the new ones you put in?

Second,
I don't know what it's called, but Katz had posted that she is using a piece out of an old carto.
Since my aluminum was sans insulator, I didn't have one handy and didn't want to wait for an order.... LOL
I used this piece as well.
I was going to just skip it, but all my pre-made wicks were to thin to use without something there, and I was too excited to try it out to take the time to roll a different one.

If you have a carto, dual coil is best because the piece is longer.
It looks almost like material to me.
And it works, and works well.

I didn't have anything to actually take the carto apart, so I just carefully pulled the innards out through the top.
It's inside the batting, whitish/yellowish in color, 1 to 2cm long and almost looks like canvas.
I can try to get some pictures if you want......
