4.4v on a 1.8 ohm is far too warm, that would explain the metal coil taste...
As for the vape amount it relies on a tri-factor of events to take place. You need Liquid, heat and air to make this happen.
The liquid need to atomize (Not burn) a 1.8 ohm coil should be running between 3.7v and 3.9v, your 2.8 ohm can run anywhere from 4.2v to 4.6v depending on your tastes. Too warm and the wick won't feed fast enough to keep the coils moist allowing atomization.
Heat...Too little and your not vaporizing your liquid, too much and your superheating the liquid. The ideal number is 6.0 watt...this can be figured out by taking voltage times voltage divided by ohms.
Air...the draw on an ecig is long and slow, not like an analog or pipe. it takes time for the coils to reach atomization tempeture, at this time your heating a liquid and your coils. Also you can reach super suspension of vapor. This occurs when there isn't enough oxygen to continue the process of vaporization. Just keep that slow draw going and you'll find that it will work just fine. If the draw isn't good enough there are several things you can do on a Viva Nova to increase air flow (Draw) to get more vapor production out of your device..check out youtube for good videos on how to accomplish this.
Once all these factors come together then it will offer you the best vape experience and most vapor. Keep in mind some devices produce more vapor then others, this is just the nature of the device. I personally vape for taste and not for creating weather systems, but you will find your middle ground where utopia is reached.
Hope this helps out some.

Looks to me like you did everything right. No idea. With the frustration of it all I'm sure you tried long draws, but I think thats about it. Maybe the lighting on those vids makes it seem better or some production thingy.

this is the biggest thing people dont realize.... a good reviewer always has a nice lighted background when showing off clouds. another thing to consider is your hydration. in the morning i can bearly notice any lingering vape, after breakfast and 2 cups of tea my clouds start to thicken by mid day and several more cups of tea everything is like a extingushed dragon. also with the twist i have noticed that the voltage isnt stable your first few seconds are more of a true voltage but the longer the draw the more the voltage drops.

this was taken with the shade up window off to the side behind me. using a vivinova 1.8ohm @4v on a lavatube. 80pg/20vg 101.jpg

I don't vape at 6, and not sure if stating that is right for everyone is misleading. For me that is not ideal at all, I like more about 7 -8, depending on the flavor of the juice.

The poster above me getting all that vapor on the LT is vaping at more like 9, which is a bit too hot for me personally. I gave up the ego's and vivi's though, because I like more flavor and vapor than they can give me.

As mentioned before different atomizers work differently, the tri-factor of elements still need to be in existance for the process to work.
Yes the vapor you see is more or less somewhat dependent on your hydration levels, PG will naturally wick moisture away from your body...er go drink lots of water.
Ideal conditions exist when the flavoring in the liquid isn't being burned, a liquid can actually be superheated at which point its no longer atomizing everything but burning off flavorings. There are a acceptions to the rule as I've found out, some liquids require a higher heat. If you ever wish to try an experiment just go through your range of heat (6 watt to 8 watt) and you'll notice the flavor changes. Ever wonder why this is?....Some flavorings do not hold up to the heat and simply burn off while others are atomized at a stronger taste.
Running a mechanical mod is an experience where as you get the range of heat, and yes the flavor changes as the battery dies. This lead me to further research why, several months later and some experiementations with straight flavorings I've found some just don't hold up.
Hope this helps out some.

DH still uses the ego's. I prefer the RBA's (rebuildable atomizers) which are pretty advanced. I like to use the LR (low resistance) atties on the mechanicals (though I prefer to have more control so just kicked my Reo and have it set to between 7 and 8). Some people like really high wattage, extreme vaping, and vape at over 10 so not even the kick works for them. But you must have an atty that can deliver the juice fast enough to not get a dry hit.

I don't care for the clearos at all, because they can't get enough juice to the atty to produce for me.

For the ego, I use SR (standard resistance) cartos in a carto tank. Basically, the tank was designed to keep the carto wet at all times which produces a pretty good vape. There is a registered seller here, OCD, who makes tanks and has a very reasonable price who can help you out. His business is called IBTanked.com and he can hook you up. His tanks are well priced, and shipping is fair as well.

Step one: Stand in steam filled room.
Step two: Blow clouds.
:vapor:

I find on a 1.8 vivi, pulsing the button while I draw allows juice to wick back to the coil a bit. Just draw slower and a bit longer, but you will feel the heat and flavor change, release, two count, hit it again....

I

As VS1 notes, tanked cartos seem to check all the boxes for many users.
Have fun.

Go to IBTANKED.com? I don't think they even take paypal? Just normal credit cards?

ETA: and if you still have problems, his name is OCD here on this forum and you can send him a PM?

i agree with this, not everyone has can be set into a certain wattage. i was the above mentioned poster, and this is one of my more milder setups being at 9 watts. im usually between 12 and 18 watts, but this one is my relaxed at home setup with a very sensitive flavor. there is no one right spot for anyone. i have 4 devices on my desk and each is set up different based on the juice.

I have that same problem and think that the verification process is not quite fair to forum members who are a little more cautious than others. 'jes sayin'
