How did you discover Vaping?

I was just reviewing the forums and started thinking, when did I first discover vaping?

Last year I was in shoe store with my daughter and I look up and see a man smoking in front of us as he was purchasing his shoes. Then I said to myself, "How can this guy smoke in a store"...and than realized I did not smell smoke. I moved up a bit closer to take a look and saw what he was holding was white...but definitely not a cigarette!!

He soon left and as I checked out, I ask the clerk if she noticed..she said it did look like he was smoking..but he wasn't...

I soon discovered what it was and in fact first purchased e-cigs to help my son stop smoking..and then I swiped them him--I had basically stopped smoking when I became pregnant 19 years ago but I was what I call a "Gambler Smioker"..I would only smoke in Las Vegas (yea-what stays in Vegas) or when I went to the local casino to play poker or the slots. They have now prohibited smoking in most poker rooms and I am wondering if I could get away with vaping..

How did you discover vaping?

It was a completely random discovery for me. I was cruising around online and saw an ad. I had never seen or heard of e-cigs. It made me curious so I started doing some investigating and quickly discovered ECF. I researched and read for about three or four months before I took the plunge and ordered my first 510 starter kit.

I had no expectations of quitting. I thought if it at least helped me cut down it would be worth it. The day my 510 appeared in my mailbox I charged up the batteries while I smoked what I didn't know would be my last few cigs. I put that pack of smokes into a plastic baggie and stuck them in my freezer... just in case. I ended up throwing them out many months later.

I don't think I would have been as successful as I was without the help and support from everyone on these boards.

I'm now recently returned from a summer relapse. Truth is, I really love vaping! I enjoy the community here and the hobby aspect of it. I'm glad I saw that random ad :)

My introduction into vaping happened pretty fast and furious. My younger brother showed up for Thanksgiving 2010 with an electronic cigarette and what the family is dubbing "The Infommercial". He had this huge half-hour speech of how absolutely fabulous this product was. My mother and I bit hook, line and sinker.

We furiously researched for the next 6 days while we waited for her paycheck. She owned the hubby some money, so we agreed to call it paid in full if Mom bought. We decided on a vendor and both ordered an ultimate KR808 kit. With a miscommunication and a shipping fiasco, we had some of our kit the next Monday. Everything seemed ok. We obsessed with research -- what else were we going to do while we waited? -- anyway, so the product came and I haven't had cigarette since. Mom, on the other hand, ended up giving me more than half her products to keep me going. My health issues were/are worse than hers and she wanted to keep me vaping while we worked out the endless issues with the vendor we picked. First it was a dead battery. Then it was back ordered cartomizers in our preferred flavor and strength. Then it was being told "Next Week" on the rest of our order that was supposed to already have shipped. Then it was the newly replaced battery dying again. Then it was "Next Week" again. And another "Next Week." Then there was finding out what we thought we ordered had not been in the company's inventory for two months at the date we ordered. The final straw was when my 2nd replacement battery arrived and it fried my one and only charger. At that point we demanded our money back. It took a little bit of fighting with them, but they finally agreed to refund our money.

I had one charged battery and a borrowed passthrough from my mother-in-law who I turned onto electronic cigarettes. I am very thankful I went with my gut feeling and had her order from a different company.

Luckily Mom and I had found ECF and were already looking into several different vendors. One of Mom's back-up kits from a different company arrived the afternoon after my charger friend. I didn't have to return to analogs or be chained to my desk with a passthrough.

I now have my "perfect" set up being shipped or in processing from a few of the forum suppliers (Vapor4Life, Nhaler, and MyFreedomSmokes.), and my mother has her bloogs on the way. That was the other "back-up" kit she'd ordered which arrived yesterday. She fell in love with Bloog at first puff and I already knew I liked V4L because I tested out my mother-in-law's products.

All in all I think we got lucky with our induction into vaping. We did fall for one of the "bad" companies out there, but we got our money back and found ECF. Now all that's left to do is help Mom find her "sweet spot" so that her 5 days of no analogs back in December can turn into a life-time of no more smoking.

My husband was a pit boss in a casino in Nevada, they allowed smoking but someone had an e-cig and gave my husband info on them. I hit the internet and ordered a super-mini and cut down to 1 pack from 2 but couldn't give up my cigarettes. A few months later I found ECF and with in a few days had a 510 and better juice and quit smoking by accident in 2 days. I got an eGo a couple weeks later and now have been smoke free for over 4 months.

My very first exposure to the term "electronic cigarette" was on another forum, totally unrelated and in an off-topic thread. It was very long and mostly full of skeptics with a few that said it worked for them. I watched a few crappy commercialized videos on YouTube but didn't see enough to convince me and no one mentioned anything about any specific model or type, just basically the kinds you find at the malls. I put it aside as a maybe later type of thing. A few months later, my husband had been at the mall and saw the Smoke 51 kiosk and told me about it. He took me there the next day and I bought my kit. Hindsight is 20/20, I know, but it led me here and I have been smoke free for over 3 months. I normally do a ton of research before I make a purchase but this was truly an impulse thing for me and I don't have big regrets about the overpriced unit I bought.

I was vaguely aware of vaping—at the time I knew it by its more vulgar name, e-cigarettes—as a consequence of spam bombardment. Every day, I'd clear my inbox of subject lines such as "NEW SMOKING MIRACLE! FREE TRIAL!" and the like.

Another dumbass anti-smoking gimmick, I thought. My heels were firmly dug in on smoking; I'd been advised of all the health issues, knew the morning-cough, nicotine-stained, socially-isolating down side, and had made my choice. Only when draconian taxation began to get my attention did I consider a strategic retreat.

I never fell for any FREE TRIAL! or mall kiosk scams, but I did spend excessively out of sheer ignorance: $15 for a disposable M402 that lasted less than 2 days, $50 for all-but-disposable kit that I got perhaps 2 weeks out of.

Somewhere in there, I clicked an ECF link and was led from the darkness. Now I spend excessively—the light of knowledge notwithstanding—but get something like what I'm paying for.

I never really wanted to quit smoking and really thought that I never would. But I am about to have some pretty major dental surgery and was told by my dentist that if I didn't quit smoking that the implants that are about to be put in would not heal correctly and it would all be for nothing. She had me speak with a doctor they had there and she wrote me a script for Chantix and told me about e-cigs and even had me speak to someone who was using them at the time.

I did some research on the internet and unfortunately did not find ECF before ording a super mini kit from a company that from all reviews seemed like they had a great kit. I paid $170 for this starter kit that I now know I could get for less than $50 and the juice smelled like piss. Shortly thereafter I found this great site and became aware. Luckily I was able to return the kit and get my money back.

I found a cigar shop in Lexington that carried 901 kits and bought that to get me by until I found a cool mod. Now I have an Icon and am using LR510 Atties.

I can now say and do say to anyone who asks that I love vaping far more than I ever loved smoking!!!

I discover it on a mall kiosk, tried (a free puff ) and did not like it at all, then the research started.
As soon as I get mine on the mail I stop using analogs. I introduced friends and my dad to it but they went back to analogs saying "not enough vapor" , "no TH" and some other excuses. Thanks to this forum I always find solutions to all my problems.

I got duped by smoking everywhere, but while waiting for my delivery I found ecf and put a halt to that (it took them over a month to get it to my mailbox). I refused the package and purchased a 510 kit from the wonderful ladies at cignot. I purchased a second kit a few months later and then more recently moved up to a vp2 and vp-f. I am still struggling to get rid of the want for smoking and hope that the 5v vp-f will help with that. I'm down from 2 packs a day (in the most stressful year of my life) to an impulse cig here or there. I've found that even when I'm drinking or at a bar I can go without. Unfortunately the stresses of the last year have been immense and I'm actually shocked that I've cut down so much to where I am now. I haven't given up on completely quitting...even more...I bought a pack last night on my way home around 6:30pm and it's still sitting in my jacket pocket unopened. I trust that eventually this will work for me completely.

**Thanks for the info on 5v Freakystylie :) I think I like 5 volts now...although man those batteries didn't last as long as I'd have liked...**

Shell and I were at a smoke shop and I saw NJoy NPro and Smoker Friendly e-cigs behind the counter. I asked the clerk about them, then a friend I haven't seen in years came in and told me that she and her hubby love the NJoys and menthol pre-filled cartos. So we decided to buy a starter kit and the rest is history. Been vaping since Nov 14th.

7-11 had that little xhale02 devices. Got curious while looking at the display while getting my daily Camels.I picked it up to see if it could work for me. That night I ordered a Joye 510. I continued to use the xhale02 for the week that it took for my 510 kit to arrive. That was my last day as a smoker. I have since moved on to some of the better mods (SB/BB/SD) but I will always be thankful for that little xhale02 device that got me started.

I wanted to quit smoking and started hearing those commercials for "Smoke Assist" and "Smoker's Savior" on the radio. A quick google search saved me from getting ripped off by those guys and brought me here. That was a year ago and in 4 weeks from today I'll be one year smoke free.

This is my story too, except that it was about 5½ months ago. I did some research on the internet and almost went for Greensmoke. Just as I was about to hit the "Confirm Order" button, the small print off to the side caught my eye. They were going to automatically ship x number of cartos monthly and I would be charged for them monthly until all eternity.

At least thats how I interpreted it.

After more Googling, I found ECF and did a lot of reading here before deciding on an Ego kit from Cignot. Wow! I got twice the equipment for half the price. And no monthly automatic recurring charges.

Thanks again ECF.

I first discovered vaping when my cousin came to my house with an e-cig kit for my dad. When my dad left the next morning for work he didn't take the e-cig with him so I figured I'd give it a try I think I smoked 3 cigarettes that whole day and I was a pack and a half a day smoker well needless to say on that first day I was sold so my cousin helped me order a pv and now I've been smoke free for 6 months.

By wasting my money on an overpriced SE at the mall!

Actually, first I did a web search and ordered a "Gamucci Disposable" online for like $20. Then I couldn't wait so I went to the mall and wasted my money. It was a good thing I ordered the disposable, which was very much like a KR808D-1, because the Smoking Everywhere experience - from the purchase and customer service to the performance of the device - would have turned me off of e-cigs permanently. Luckily the Gamucci Disposable showed me that e-cigs could work well and I immediately set out to find something like the Gamucci Disposable that wasn't a $20 throw away.

For some strange reason the Gamucci regular-not-disposable kits were just the same thing as the SE mall kits so I had to really look further to find something like the disposable version, which led me to this forum, which led me to V4L, which led me to the KR, which led me to mods and premium cartos and quality juices and good advice and happy vaping.

In October '09 I chanced across some commercial clips on YouTube (can't recall the brands). They were all pretty amateurish advertisements, but I was so taken by the idea of being able to "smoke" wherever I wanted to that I did some more serious research. I found this forum and ended up buying a good 510 starter kit from CigNot. Quit smoking by accident when I realised that vaping was just flat-out better. I stuck with 510s until around October '10, then picked up an eGo.
