I went from 1 pad to 1 cig a day immediately after getting my Inferno. I did 1 a day until I ran out...the last one tasted so bad I threw it away halfway through. Haven't had one in a little over a month :) I think I needed to have the security of knowing that if something messed up with my pv, I had the analogs to fall back on. And the one I had a day was kind of a ritual since I always would light up getting out of my car after work. Now I just vape on the way home :)

There are so many different ways to make this work, and all of them work in the end.
Don't put pressure on yourself is the best answer you can get.

Just do whatever feels right to you, even if it includes having a smoke when you feel you need one.
In the end, once you find the right combination of equipment and juice, electronic cigarettes will win out.

Just remember that whatever approach you take, you might or might not have troubles.
And if you do, come on back here and tell us your issues, and we'll have answers.

So I guess I'm trying to say, it really doesn't matter how you do it.
It has an extremely high likelihood of working no matter which approach you take.

Because in the end, it is just so much better than smoking.
:)

I will get my KGO from Dark City Vapors (the best company out there IMO) in the mail probably around 5:30pm.
There are 3 ways this seems to be able to go down:

1: Do I try to finish the day smoking analogs AND the KGO and then move to option 2.
2: Do I wait until day 2 and give it a fresh start and try to go all day?
3: Do I smoke as few analogs a day as I can and ward off nic fits with the KGO until that blessed day that I can wean to 0?

What do you think would be the most successful? I'm dying here.
How did you guys quit?

Okay, first sign of a TRUE VAPER. Knows the exact time their vaping supplies will hit their mailbox! LOL

I'd go with 2. Here's why. When I smoked cigs and tried to vape the same day. The vaping felt "off" - sort of weird. When I started the day off with Vaping, it ROCKED!

You Go Sho!

ShogaNinja, you'd be amazed at just how easy it is to start vaping and stop smoking.

In my case, I accidentally stopped smoking.

Last February, I ordered an eGo starter kit (650 mAh -- how tiny those fat batts seem now!) and some e-liquids from Liberty Flights, and I got a pink slip from the P.O. telling me I had to sign for the package at the P.O. My intention was to have some way of going to taverns and such with friends and not having to endure smoke breaks outside in 35-degree temperatures and horizontal sleet. My intention was definitely not to give up a 45-year, 3 PAD addiction.

I had been making an every-three-weeks run from Cook County to Lake County in Illinois to pick up six cartons of cigarettes -- the $12.00 per carton tax differential made the trek worthwhile. I made the ciggie trek and then stopped at the P.O. on the way home. Should have gone to the P.O. first.

When I got home, I started futzing around with the starter kit and e-liquids in my home office (I'm self-employed). Before I knew it, it was dinnertime, and I hadn't touched a cigarette all afternoon. I was having so much fun loading carts with different e-liquids, plugging them into an atomizer and sampling. After dinner, I went back to my basement office and kept it up. Went to bed that night without having smoked a single cigarette. I did have the foresight to put the battery I'd been using on the wall-wart charger, so I was ready to go again the next day. I vaped the next day with nary a cigarette. By mid-afternoon, the second battery went on the charger when it ran out of electricity, and I switched back to the first battery.

Now I was faced with a dilemma. I had arrived home with six cartons of cigarettes from my trek to Lake County. I'd invested in them, so by gum, I was going to smoke them! I've had to work to remember to smoke those left-overs, a couple or few per day. Many days I've forgotten. And I'm one of those rare individuals to whom the smell of cigarettes is good.

Today is my first anniversary vaping. I still have six packs left from those six cartons. You do the math.

The best advice I can give you is to not worry if you "fall off the wagon" and smoke some analogs as you make the transition to vaping. It's no big deal, and soon you won't want an analog at all. And if you're at all like me, someone can offer you a cigarette, you can accept it and smoke it out of politeness, and you'll go right back to vaping.

Lol. You used the term "horizontal sleet" that made my day! We have that! I live in the northern country (Ohio)... it's rough and I have been relegated to the garage holding my shirt open to a tiny personal heater and praying for spring. I hate it. I want to vape indoors where I would never ever smoke. Even so my old lady hates the stinky garage as she gets in and out of her car. She holds her breath and runs. It's lame and I feel bad cuz she has asthma.

True vaper? Or someone who lives and dies by their mail deliveries :) I'm a computer nerd. It's what I do for a living.

Ok, well I guess then there isn't so much of a missed opportunity of having something new and getting on the bus. That's a good analogy. The bus runs every 20 minutes right? You can get on whenever. Eventually you're going to stop driving cuz there's buses everywhere and their cheaper and better. Cool. I'm so quitting.

Shoga is pleased.

Regarding nic gum : I've been vaping for nearly a year and I still carry nic gum around with me. I discovered it comes in handy when I'm not able to vape. If you use it, and then vape right after, you might get too much nic and end up with a headache, but nothing worse than hiccups has happened to me.

Boge 2.0 cartos are great. I think you really picked out some good tools to help you switch over. Like others have said...don't worry about it all too much. Vaping isn't the same as NRT. You're not back at square one because you smoke one cigarette when it comes to vaping. You will eventually find vaping to be more satisfying than smoking.

I got a KGO starter kit from Dark City Vapors after months of research and some pretty good (vaper) celebrity endorsements.
It'll work for a good long time. I'm going to make a 5v USB passthrough next week for high voltage vaping and I am currently drawing up plans for my new Genesis atomizer which I will unveil in the future. Between the three I'm sure I'll be just fine.

The hard part now is going to be quitting stinkies, finding my all-day vape, and finding the carto/atty setup of choice for me. I'm getting a DIY setup and I'm making my own juice so the all-day vape is only a matter of experimentation. The carto/atty problem will work itself out eventually (and probably at significant cost to me :O ).

Amen, well-said!

When I got my first kit, I thought right away that it might just work. So I decided to have a cigarette only when I really felt like I needed one. This was only a few times a day initially, and the 5th day I never got around to lighting up. I made sure that I had cigarettes available for quite a while - I wasn't about to feel "panicked" and do something impulsive. I think I still have a couple of dusty packs out in the garage. It felt good to look at them and say, "No, thanks."

Best of luck to you on your journey - this site is an incredible resource, make good use of it!

In My Opinion:

A. You want to quit smoking has been established.

B. Just do it.

For me I put down cigarettes in 2 days. That's not going to be what it is for everyone. We are a little different. I didn't end up finishing my cigarettes. I still have a stale pack lingering in a drawer as a distant reminder I was a smoker. Now to think I was such a chain smoker is pretty surreal. If you need a smoke here and there for the first 3 days or so don't beat yourself up over it. Don't beat yourself up if you can't kick them for a month either. If you WANT to stop, really truly do you'll probably stop smoking sooner then you think though.

Yeah I really did my homework. I am nothing if not prepared. I am looking forward to dripping on my 306 LR atomizer.

I've given that situation some thought and why can't you, say, go to the bathroom and vape one up in there with some high nicotine juice or even take a vape inside your shirt at the movie theater lol. Stealth vaping. It's like an extreme sport. You've just got to have the moxie to do it. :)

Yo Sho...I work off my 'puter all day too. Only I'm pretty dyslexic so my spelling can be atroshish (see what I mean : )

Thanks for the spell-check. I went back and corrected it.

VAPE ON VAPER!

Oh I am a spelling and grammar policeman :) No harm done. Carry on, good citizen. Maybe you should look into making a 5v passthrough with a 510 connection. VapeTalk - How to Make a 5V Passthrough for $4 - YouTube Here's a tutorial vid. Total cost: $4. Other passthroughs 20-30 bucks.

You already did your homework. You know you're going to quit. So quit.

For me, I had no clue I was quitting. My almost-19-year-old daughter was throwing a fit because riding in the car with my husband and I made her clothes smell like smoke. So my husband picked up a couple cheapie convenience store kits.

Two days later, I was down to 8 cigs from a 1.5 pack a day habit.

Three weeks later, I quit.

Now I'm experiencing some of the oddities of detox from 25 years of smoking. (Even though you're vaping, you can and likely will experience detox symptoms -- just to a MUCH lesser degree.) Some days, I crave a cigarette, and then I vape a lot, and I don't smoke. Other days, I don't.

But I can breathe again.

It's worth it.

Best of luck to you!
