So everyone has their story, and I was wondering what yours is. Looked around the forums, and didn't see a place this would specifically go, so I figured here would be a good place. If this doesn't really belong here, just don't reply and let it sink into oblivion.
For myself, I'm kind of the worst sort of vaper. I didn't smoke, at all. I lived till I was 24 years old without so much as picking up a cigarette. I'm one of those people you hear naysayers talk about picking up the habit because of ecigs. However my family was a ruthlessly chain smoking family, head to toe. Many of them started as early as 9 year old. I had told them about ecigs when the only thing you ever saw or heard about was the old "Blu" cigalikes. I couldn't ever convince them to try it. Still being a trendy person that likes to keep up on technology I followed ecigs through the years. Eventually I decided I'd put my money where my mouth was, literally, and get my family on board with it. So I bought a cheap ego kit, top coil clearomizers ( ugh), some juice (black licorice is still a fav to this day. ) and flaunted it to my family when I went up for the weekend.
Bam, they were hooked instantly. First my grandmother and my father, then my aunts, then cousins, and so on and so forth. My entire family save 2 or so people vape now. I'm still the trendsetter. I start rebuilding my coils or changing wick, show the results, they start doing the same. I start making my own liquid, they start doing the same. In the future, when I probably buy a mod of some sort instead of an ego style battery, they will likely see the difference and switch over.
To my count, about 20 or so people now vape because I decided to prove it was better to them. I'd shown the few studies, the theory, and so on, but it wasn't enough until they had a working model being used in front of them. People can be stubborn sometimes.
As for me, why did I keep vaping? Because I liked it. I liked the socialization at work going out with people to the smoking area to vape, and the chance to expose them to vaping. I like the hand and mouth occupation. Oddly my concentration has improved a bit, as it allows me to slow down and occupy myself while focusing on something. Used to be as much as I like reading, I couldn't sit still to read a book to save my life. Now I can read for as long as I want easily. I enjoy nicotine.
Is it the healthiest thing I've ever done? Probably not. Nicotine being a stimulant might kill me with a heart attack when I'm 50, but then again, I'm not cutting down on fat, sugar, or red meat either.
In all its been a positive experience for me, and for my family. Hearing my grandmother say things like " I can breath/taste again " are a big boost. I enjoy the habit and its helped people in my life.
So that's my story, and sorry for the wall of text. Hoping to hear all of yours. Again if this doesn't actually belong here, feel free to ignore it till it sinks to the bottom of the forum.
