How easy?

I hate to be the only loser in the group, but for me it hasn't been that easy.

I have cut down (almost in half from 1 1/2 packs a day 35 years) on my analogs, but I just haven't been able to give them up. Still need a few first thing in the morning, have to have one after dinner, and a few before bed. Most of the rest of the day I'm vaping. I'm really disappointed in myself, but I'm hoping when I get my first order of juice (it's coming today!!! Happy Dance!!) that I'll find some flavors I love and that will help.

Very easy, once I got past the 'I've got to have a real cigarette with my coffee and/or beer' ideation.

Indeed, I had been trying to quit, off and on, for 40 years, and even if I did manage to stop smoking for a month or two, I would end up drinking one night, have a couple of smokes, and then be right back on them.

Now I can drink with the best of them and still avoid cigarettes, relying on my four different brands of e-cigarettes.

I, too, am curious about what Jonah bleeped out. :D

Overall, I would say that it was easy, but I had some hardware issues at first that kept me from vaping for about a week. I was coming off a four pack a day habit, and really wanted to quit this time, but I wasn't expecting the reaction I had to e-cigs. I was really thinking that if vaping could get me down to two or one packs a day, it was still beneficial in the long run.

I've stopped and started several times in the 31 years that I spent smoking. I've been hospitalized with pneumonia twice and quit once for six months. I've also tried all the popular pharmaceuticals without a positive result.

It just so works out that I've been smoke-free since the 1st of the month. That wasn't planned. It was just when I got enough of the parts together to reliably have a vape available.

I'm vaping "high" which is 18, 24, or 36 mg/ml depending on where you get it from. I have yet to "catch a buzz" from vaping, and with my tolerance, I don't know if I ever will. I'm also not a fan of "throat hits." I find them more irritating than pleasant, but, again, depending on the juice, my 801/Vapor 1000s can pack a big one. It's also fun to be in the middle of a cloud, and I waste a lot of juice because I enjoy doing that.

One thing you may not have though of is since it's flameless, you can vape up a little cloud and then safely sit it down. They get warm, but not really hot.

And the advice I'd offer from my perspective as a three-weeks guy today is that you stock up and get redundant hardware *before* you start. Nothing is more aggravating than getting ready to start and having two battery failures in the first two days (that happened to me). Vaporizers are known to lay down and die, too, so you want extras of them.

Currently I have three working batteries and four more on order. I have six functioning vaporizers, and two battery chargers. I have 56 cartridges and 24 to refill.

I think it would be sufficient to launch a stop-smoking attempt with four atomizers and four batteries, but avoid the urge to put them all together into four electronic cigarettes. For some odd reason, doing that seems to multiply failures.

If your day job involves planting yourself in front of a computer, I also recommend getting a USB pass-through as it'll save on a lot of batteries.

That's all the advice I have. Give it a try and let us tell you "Welcome to e-smoking."

Now wait a second here, Jimmy? You invested in a screwdriver, are still smoking, and just now considering quitting? That's a different path, indeed.

Lord knows, it's not will-power. I don't have the patience for that. :)

It's just knowing that if that evil, familiar nico-urge strikes, all I have to do is reach for the e-cig and get relief. And I was an 80-per-day guy. If I was breathing, I was smoking.

I don't really remember the first cigarette I ever smoked or where I bought my first pack. I will remember the LAST cigarette I smoked, though, just as I'll remember the first poof of an e-cig I took. I thought it was dreadful and I went YUK!. That turned out to be due to the new atomizer. All 801s I've tried so far are like that. The first 100 puffs or so leave something to be desired. I've learned not even to smoke them. Just puff my way through without inhaling while waiting for the brassey odor to clear.

How easy? All of the above. I was never going to give up smoking. I bought this PV to cut down the expense of cigarettes. Within 2 weeks, I stopped completely. This is just better than smoking.
Spikey , thankyou for that video. Wildsky, thankyou for showing me the way.

When I have the urge to smoke, I just fire up 2 e-cigs and vape them both. That hasn't happened in a while.

Easy? I never tried to give them up, it just happened.

Speed, youre not the only "looser" in the group... I have a tough time of it too as do some of the others I've read...But hey If you cut down on your anaolgs period. You're adding time to your life and money in your wallet... I already feel a lot better having halfed my anaolg intake... So don't beat your self up if you fall off the wagon. Just get the h*ll back on it lol

Ive noticed with me, alot revolves around having a good e-cig/mod = consistent..(I'm building an arsenal, since Im the queen of killing attys and PT's)... Plus you need 2-3 e-liquids that you call your "go to vapes"..Tons of great juice out there but if you cant tolorate them for any length of time.......I've found my "go to vapes" ( now that I have so many I could prolly be a supplier lol) ..I'm waiting on my two mods to get here ( its taking toooo long lol)...Between those and my passthroughs annnnd the snus+disolvables I just picked up today, just in case..And my nieghbor/bestfriend that Is going to quit with me... Im confident..And actually excited for D day...

I had a hard time at first (because it does taste and feel different), but I found that weening into in has helped a lot. I still smoke an occasional analog, but they give me headaches now. I'm so glad to have that crap out of my system. Once you give it a good go, vaping is amazing. So many flavor options too (w/out having to spend a buck a stick for a flavored Swisher).

To be honest I was a little sceptical, reading all those posts about people giving up analogues so effortlessly. But here I am, after just 10 days with a Dura C, and I've seen my analogue (ab)use go from 25 to 10 to 5 a day!

Just for fun I made myself a coffee and sat myself down to read this thread through, and test my previously holy trinity of internet, coffee and analogue. And..... I'm just not motivated to light an analogue :)

Looks like those 5 cigs a day will very soon be none!

I have used the last 10 days to learn how to use my Dura, got some liquids, tried different flavour/strength carts, played home chemist with VG etc. but I have avoided giving myself deadlines about when to stop smoking analogues. I just don't think the traditional guilt trip associated with stopping smoking analogues is neccessary or conducive to replacing analogues with vaping.

Just let it happen.

Ok, I am a 50 a day man and I am starting to believe the rumours that tobacco smoke may be harmful to your health.

What gave you that first clue?

So truthfully, how easy did members find it to switch to vaping?

So easy it just sort of happened!

Was it a piece of cake?

Yup!

Did u need will power?

Nope!

Do you still smoke real ones from time to time?

Nope - going on 2-1/2 months with pure vaping.

Do some of u prefer vaping to normal smoking?

Absolutely!

What werethe initial stumbling blocks?

Waiting for the batts to charge.

Finally, is my screwdriver obselete now or still right up there with the best?

Way up...like way way up...it's my main vape... did I say it's my main vape?

it was easy for me too. But I wanted to quit so bad. I've done it lots of times, usually for 4 or 5 months, but once for 3 years. But I always missed analogs, longed for them every day and always went back.

This time, I don't even think about them and even still have half a pack left over. I've been vaping for almost a week. Last night I went out drinking with friends, vaped a ton, and woke up this morning with NO TIGHTNESS IN THE CHEST AND NO SORE THROAT! I'm so amazed at that.

I think it's different for everyone, but for me this is a dream come true. More of the pleasure and none of the pain of smoking...even the physical analog withdrawal symptoms I'm having don't faze me in the least...I've never felt this happy after giving them up.

I've smoked more than 2 packs a day for over 40 years. I've tried everything to quit and have wanted to quit for so long.

The first day I picked up the e-cig I never picked up an analog again. My husband sits and smokes right along with me, he smokes analogs and I still haven't picked up an analog. Once in a while, maybe once in every 2 or 3 days I think I'd like a REAL cigarette, but then I take a puff off the e-cig and I'm no longer wanting an analog. It's amazing!

See my sig....it says it all.

You'll find the right device, the right level of juice, the right flavor of juice and you'll replace one routine for the other. :D

This gave me a good giggle. Another UK phrase that doesn't translate to US. "Piece of p**s" = "Piece of [another word for urine]" = "Bloody simple" LOL

For me, the transition was easy. Switched over completely from day one without intending to. I only bought an e-cig to supplement analogues and make my money go a bit further, but it didn't quite work out that way! At first, the taste was strange, but the 'novelty' made me keep using the PV. By day 2, I hadn't gotten to like the taste, and the rest, as they say, is history! :thumb:
