Yeah the sub ohm vaping is no longer required now that regulated mid put out more than 20 watts..... only reason to build low now is to use max power......

I vape at 15 watts max of 25 on my ADV atties...... 3 in rotation are .3ohm .9 ohm and 1.1ohm. All running on the same mod using same setting producing nearly the same vape.

When I was a kid in the 60s convenience stores had no problem selling us cigarettes. I didn't swipe cigs from my Dad's pack because he smoked unfiltered Camels and Pall Malls. :nah:

We bought whatever filter cigarette that was the cheapest on sale. When I got to senior high school we were allowed to smoke in designated smoking areas. It was a state high school that also had compulsory ROTC.

Today, if I were underage I certainly wouldn't buy a DTL cloud machine. I'd be discreet and go with MTL to be stealthy.

Well, there's stealthy and bravado mode. As a teen, I was fond of either (depending on what the situation required). If I were to start vaping as a teen, I'm quite sure I'd have a Juul.... and a cloud chucking device, WITH nic in it, at the very LEAST.

Thank goodness my teen years were less marked by a leering political and police presence than they are these days.... Or so I THINK. There was less, "Oh, keep the teens from smoking," and more "Keep the teens out of my hair."

I cannot IMAGINE a HS where smoking areas were permitted, but it sounds totally awesome to my inner teen, LOL.

I honestly might have done good with nic cravings if it had been around when I quit smoking. My 2 yr vape anniversary is tomorrow.
Congrats. My 2 years is a couple of weeks out. :thumb:

The Juul is kinda cool and as with me, it would have been a godsend when I was smoking. Great for hotel rooms, bathrooms, rental cars, between business meetings to avoid the gross stank, etc.

I am good with my 2-3mg nic DIY @ 40-60w though and doubt that will change any time soon.

@leftyandsparky and @BreSha6869, congrats on your 2 year vapeversaries! Well done!

A billion years ago I use to walk down to the only store within five miles of my grandma's house to get cigarettes for my great aunt, who lived with her. The first time I did it I had to explain what I had come in for to the cashier/owner of the place. So he says, "What's your grandma's name?" And I say, "Grandma." He facepalms and asks me where she lives. He remembers her number and picks up the phone. I stand there and listen to the phone conversation: "Verna. There's a little boy down here. Says he's getting smokes for Cindy. Says he's yours. Is that right? Yeah. OK." Then he tells me I'm allowed to have a few pieces of candy as well. I take the smokes and the candy back to my grandma's house. I was about ten years old. That kind of stuff doesn't fly any more.
When I was in my early teens, my mother sent me into the store to buy her Winstons. No questions asked.

When my daughters were teenagers, I was ill and sent them to the store to buy my cigarettes. I sent a note with them. The night clerk was a bit on the .... side. But, after talking to me on the phone, she did send them home with my cigs.

Meh. I think the whole 'sub ohming' terminology has played out. It seems like a leftover from when it was really hard to get a device that was even remotely powerful by today's standards. So the only way to hike up the Wattage was to drop the resistance. One you got the resistance below 1.0 Ohm then you could get to substantially more powerful vapes than those crappy e-cigs and the handy 'mods' that were basically just batteries with some safety protection. Although the Spinner cranking up to 4.8V and beyond was pretty spiffy, lol. I would think that 'sub ohming' comes from old school mech mod users trying to get a strong vape going. I can 'sub ohm' on my Kayfun 5 clone with my Aspire CF Mod if i want and get a nice 25W vape - assuming I don't stupidly throw my 50/50@18+nic juice in there...again. Doh!

I just looked. The specs online say that my CF will handle down to 0.50 Ohms. It gives a constant 4.2V so that would put me at a little over 35W. I don't use it that way. I just like taking advantage of the constant Voltage. But that's what I mean by 'sub ohming' not really being all that big of a deal.
Yep they need to get rid of that term and use hi wattage vapor instead....I vape fairly low wattages, mtl on a kayfun , but my resistance is under 1 ohm, but by the term sub ohmer (at least how most today think of that term) I am really not. If your vaping high wattages, then most likely your airflow is pretty wide open, your doing DL, and you have a sub ohm coil.., so imo, that's a better term

Yeah. I think your vaping style is really the important thing. I tend to use three letter acronyms because they got stuck in my head that way: MTL for mouth to lung, DTL for direct to lung, and RLH for restricted lung hit. But I also think of 'high Wattage' and use that when talking to people and it works, we understand each other. I'm vaping on a KF5 clone at the moment and the only reason that my coil is over an Ohm is that I'm using it on a constant Voltage (4.2) device to get 16 Watts.

Vape style is definitely the best, most basic way to categorize vapers, IMO. When mechs were the powerhouse devices back in the day, you bounced what resistances folks were using off one another to gauge their wattage. It was natural to talk "sub-ohm" and It was useless. When regulated devices became more capable and versatile, the conversation shifted to wattage because, well, people could just ask their wattage and it was useless.

MTL/DTL all the way. Covers a baseline we can all understand and removes an infinite number of useless variables from the equation.
