And to think that it was the FDA wasn't it who started the whole flavored thing, when they allowed childrens medicine to be flavored so it wasn't such a bitter pill/syrup. Maybe these are the first batch all seemingly grown up teenagers.
The Brits had it right with cod liver oil on a spoon.

The thrill of something forbidden

Bingo!

The “buzz” has many attributes that does not necessary correlate to using an intoxicating substance. The act of doing something that is deemed dangerous, cool, rebellious, something a teenager is not allowed to do but has the ability to do it can create a buzz!

I do not recall getting an intoxicating buzz when I started smoking. I do recall the buzz I would get from other kids who saw me smoking, thinking I was a rebel or cool.

If nicotine buzz was the only reason for kids vaping, then why have we not seen (at least on some scale) of other methods of nicotine consumption?

If it's worth banning it's worth trying. Bans have a way of reinforcing the very behaviors they set out to curtail. Bans also satisfy the commonly-expressed reactionary sentiment that something must be done immediately! Those who would enforce bans enjoy guaranteed job security, which is why bureaucratic types are such fans.

Allowing kids to vape zero nic will not happen.
Nic is not thought as the harmful element. Their argument of unknowns plus it leading to smoking won't change.
If you want to address the kids vaping problem, let's start with Juul putting an obscene amount of nicotine in their devices.

I never started smoking (at the age of 12) because it gave me a buzz, or peer pressure, or to look cool. I did it because I was told I couldn't. I took it as a challenge. By the time I was in the 7th grade, I even found ways to buy cigs for myself at stores.

With that being said, I would not be one to promote underage sales of vape products of any sort. It is just inviting a plethora problems to arise. The negatives far out weigh the positives on this one. Vaping should primarily be used to help one quit smoking tobacco products, and that seems to be a point that gets overlooked more recently as more nonsmokers start vaping mostly for the buzz. These people are abusing life saving products to temporarily alter their state of mind, and if this trend keeps growing vaping will continue to suffer and be in danger of being regulated to death. Our society doesn't consider how many lives vaping has saved, just the couple that was taken. Allowing children to vape is just going to give vaping an even worse public image, giving regulators more ammo to use against this industry. Let's not loose sight of what this industry was made for, saving adults who were addicted to a life threatening habbit giving them a chance to enhance the remainder of their life.

Zero Nic is like sucking your thumb. It might provide some comfort but it really isn't doing anything so what's the point.
Yes and no. I enjoy vaping and I use 1.5mg ejuice. Eventually I will go to 0mg but continue vaping. Sometimes breaking the habit is more than getting rid of the nicotine addiction.

Based on what I read, you get more pollutants in your lungs going outside.
Yes, I read things like that to, even read it's good for you...alot vape large volumes of juice and if you do that for years and years, chances are it's not going to be good for our lungs, nic or not and especially kids. If they are doing it to substitute smoking, heck yes, but to give a 13 year old a nicless vape and say, here, it's just like going outside and breathing, please......

. Did we start using them because of the buzz, peer pressure, the perception of looking cool or because it was an adult activity and this was just one step toward being (or acting like) and adult?

.
I honestly didnt know what a buzz wuzz when I started, probably around 10 years old. I think because I didnt know what a buzz was and that both my parents smoked, I dont even remember getting one, it just wasnt a thing for me personally. I started because my folks did and I thought it was cool and the thing to do....even when I knew what a buzz was, I never felt it and to this day have never felt a buzz from a cig or vape...

I'm not even cool when a non-smoking adult asks about trying vaping. I went through the traditional routes to quit including big pharma, no Bueno.

If kids (whose parents think like you do) get my right to purchase my vape supplies taken away you better believe I'll be more than ticked, at people like you. They can and need to wait until they're of legal age and then what they do, they're on their own. If they get into something it's on them. Because right now as teenagers they can't even be locked up, only returned to the parents for what, balling out a store clerk?

I think since this is all new to you, having been a smoker for 30 years you found that this was as most of us do - a smoking cessation tool. Not something that they ever intended for little Suzzie or Johnny to play around with, let alone purchase and blow bigger clouds in one puff than I do in a week.

Howsabout we just DON'T ADDRESS IT because it is NOT a :censored: PROBLEM???????

All those kids (AND WE STILL HAVE NO HONEST NUMBER) would be smoking cigarettes right now instead of vaping. How is that a wrong to society, it ISN'T. It's actually a BOON.

Things to be done about teen vaping? ZERO.

Maybe I have an unusually close, ah, relationship with the children of today? They are JERKS. They break the rules. The do stuff that is illegal because it is exciting. THEY do stuff that will kill them if the are unlucky, sometimes on a routine BASIS.

GOD. A certain number of teens are going to eat it. Too bad so sad, etc. If teens had access to NOT contaminated drugs like a NICE Juul from the gas station that has not been adulterated that is FAR by FINE with ME. Same with the evil leaf.

Binge drinking kills. Out of the oh, many teens I meet I feel lucky if they are on BIRTH control let alone using freaking CONDOMS. We hand them out like candy. They probably sell them to the smart kids then buy drugs.

Really. Come on, there is NO problem here if you actually accept the youth of today which like, has been going on in perpetuity and I'm sorry but it's partially luck, and partial Darwin at work.

The teenagers can go :censored: themselves and do the dumb stuff. It is not just the PARENT's responsibility to try and help those teens, it is also SOCIETY'S because often their parents....are not good at parenting let me put it that way. Grr.

If you want a nic buzz, order some Thunder X snus. It has something like 45 mg of nicotine in it and the mucosal membranes are shockingly effective at metabolizing nicotine.

The first time I tried it I threw up in the middle of my yoga practice, in my bathtub.

It was pretty intense. I still like it, but it doesn't hang out in my mouth as long and I have learned the sensations of nicotine overload.

Give the kids the nic vape! The medicinal benefits of nicotine far outweigh THE harmful side effect (high BP). Yeah, it's addictive. So what! Little Bobby can walk in the store and buy a twelve pack of Monster Redbull... Caffeinated=addictive.

The motivation for regulation is, has been and will be MONEY. "They" give zero effs about "our" health, unless it is shown to improve revenue.

Yeah I said it. I'm just realistic. Sue me.
