how long after starting vaping did you stop smoking analogs?

over six months here also, mostly because it took me along time to find a set up that worked for me.....everyone has a time in between the switch to where your just starting to know your gear and if you get start off with not so good gear (as I did) it can be a struggle.....best thing to do is DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST through this wonderful forum which has helped so many out, stay and talk for awhile...people around here are nice and will help you. Just remember to ask all questions that pop in mind could save you some headaches

All of your stories are very inspirational, thank you :) Who knew just over a week ago when I picked up a Blu I would be over 3/4 less the smoker I was a week later? Today with my new eGo twist i have only smoked 3 1/2 cigs down from 2 packs a day a week ago, with no effort. Was not even thinking about quitting, as I have been under a considerable amount of stress, this just happened out of nowhere. A miracle. Today I found the analogs I did smoke pretty gross. I am hopeful. :D

it'll work out for you, you gotta be persistant. Some people have it easier than others, My better half started when I started and she still is smoking (though she's down to about 3 cigs a day), and to be honest, when I smell her smoking a cig it still makes me want one, but if I take a puff I know it's gonna be gross so I just don't.

I lurked here for weeks trying to learn and research. Figured out what to get as a startup that was in the midprice range. I was not going to spend a lot on something I didnt know if it would work. Nothing else had before, right?!? The day I got my kit is the day I joined ECF. I knew enough about myself that I would probably transition into vaping only, once I realized that OMG this could REALLY WORK!

I had bought my weekly carton of cigs so those were in the fridge and I had a pack I was finishing from the last carton. From day one I went down to 7 cigs that first day. The second day...6. I was at that for about 2weeks. It slowly decreased from there. Not because I was trying, just because vaping tasted better. The last cigs to go were the 1st in the morning and the last one at night.

The first one in the morning was an accident to give up. :). I'm sitting there with my coffee, reading ECF, cigarette in ashtray burning away. I'm just getting my nic fix subconsciously when I realize that I've been picking up my PV instead of the cig in the ashtray just burning away. Well that took care of the first one in the morning. Now I'm down to the last one at night. (I had a sorta goal that I wouldn't buy any more when the carton was gone)

My last two nights as a smoker I light one up, take two puffs, go EWWWW, put it out, go to bed. The next day was October 15th.

Now, I have almost a full carton of cigs sitting in the fridge. I can't quite bring myself to throw them away (crutch much?). Although it is nice to wave at them every once in a while, I still couldn't throw all that money away. So that's from October since I'm smoke free and those cigs were bought in September. Fast forward to January. Whooop! We're moving to Florida!! I'm packing things up and come across that carton of cigs.....oh boy. Hubby and I make a ceremonial burial (garbage can) of that carton that has not changed one bit since October.

You know for just a split second, minuscule moment, where my heart did a little thump when that went into the garbage. There went my crutch. I was determined they wouldn't make the move with me.

Well very long story and I'm sure I've bored a few to tears. It took about a month for me to totally transition to vaping. Find the right delivery system was key for me. I went from the cartridges for that month and the day I got my clearo was the beginning of the end for those last two nights.

You are doing brilliantly, Stefania. One day very soon you will just realise that you haven't lit a cig, because you haven't wanted to. (I have to stop myself calling them 'fags' on this forum, as the American contingent find that hilarious).

When that day comes, you have it cracked. Until then, you are well on the way to having it cracked. Good luck, and Vape On...

Definitely tricky. Makes for an odd little dance. I found something to serve as an "ashtray" to rest the cig-a-like widget in. Put it where the ashtray for the regular cigs would go here on my desk, next to the computer. There's so much habit and ritual and psychological stuff going in smoking. I'm discovering it helps to "psych out" my own brain. Catch myself sometimes even "flicking" ashes that don't exist into the little thing that's not actually an ashtray. :)

But it works. I'm so used to reaching for that particular spot to pick up a cylindrical object and get nicotine out of it that I do it without even being all that conscious of it. I put the one pack of regular cigs and the lighters and all into a cabinet in the kitchen. I'll still let myself have one but it's not the convenient choice anymore. Sometimes, now, when I get that "but I wanna real one" urge, I can pass. Think, "nah, come on, I'm in the middle of something, just grab the vapor thingie, it's right here".

I like this idea. I'm on Day 1 of vaping and already without even trying I've probably smoked half of what I normally would have, perhaps less. I have a clean new ashtray up in the kitchen cupboard and I currently have a cig-a-like right now. I'm going to try this as I'm very guilty of the mindless smoking thing since I'm a gamer. Sometimes I'll chain smoke and not realize it when I'm all angry that I'm dealing with a bunch of n00bs in a warzone....lol.

It's Day 1 for me and I'm currently probably about half and half. I've been reading the hell out of this forum though and am very inspired.

My only question at this point now since I am willing to make the investment beyond what I already have is:

Do I spring for the Provari and clearo/tank now to start off with a good mod that will really kick me off it, or do I get a cheaper but reliable mod (eGo/Spinner) and then maybe pop for a Provari later? Either way, glad to see this level of success. The positivity and helpfulness of this forum I am sure is a nice contributing factor.

There is a good middle ground between a Provari and an ego type device. Have you thought about a vamo? They are cheap at about $50 give or take, sturdy and easy to use.

I've been vaping about 3 weeks now and wish I just jumped in with the vamo instead of the smoov I started with.

Well I had considered the VAMO, and the Tesla and others that are rather like it. Couple reasons why I'd probably just spring for the next higher grade instead.

1) That's $50 I could spend on juice or parts instead if I'm actually going to be satsified with the Provari for pretty certain.
2) I prefer (when possible) to buy American made products. I have no issue paying a bit higher for something quality that will last. Some reviews on the VAMO showed rattling and defective/loose parts. I dont like rattling electronics.
3) I'm fairly tech savvy, so any learning curves involved don't particularly concern me overmuch. The unit I have now has been surprisingly good and can tide me over for a while if it has to. I like advanced. I like quality. Sounds like I probably just answered my own damn question.
