Better safe than sorry - I have used a piece of electrical tape and secured the cord to the PT so there is no stress placed on the PT when I use it. Others have suggested twist -ties or zip-ties. I do not like these because interfere with the smoothness of the PT - the electrical tape, while it is not very pretty, is flat against the PT and at least on the black ones, kind of blends in.

I put a drop of super glue right where the cord goes into the tube, now it doesn't move.

I did this too, just to reinforce it... ;)

I did this about a week ago after reading the suggestion, but it is actually the original manual passthrough I ordered when they first came out, so have had it quite a long time...

I had a manual PT die on me. I tore it apart (literally) to see why it failed. There were no broken wires.

At least on mine, you couldn't have broken a wire by pulling, unless you tried. There was a ty-wrap around the cord, just behind the "ashes" cap. However, there was nothing to stop it from twisting. The super glue should be a good way to stop that.

That's what I cound on my newer one, about 2 months old. I can't find my older one, which is more like 6 months old, or somewhere around there, to compare if it has that, too.

Yea. Mine was a new one. In fact, I received it about Oct 8 and it died after 2-3 weeks.

NOTE: I'm not complaining. It was a freebie and I've already received another one as freebie. I'm just SMILIN!
