Instant. I don't smoke anymore after 53 years, quite a few of those trying to stop with every means at my disposal. I'm new at this and it's only been since Sat. but I ain't goin back. The miracle is I don't want one. I'm getting my nicotine fix, something that looks like smoke but isn't harsh or harmful and something that replaces the fiddling with cigarettes. There's absolutly no reason to go back. I think what helped me the most was finding this forum and researching while my rig was on its way. !, I found the right one to buy and where to order it. 2, I knew not to expect it to taste and smell exactly like a real cigarette. 3, I know I can count on support if I do encounter any problems. I owe the people on this forum a lot and I hope I can pay it forward.

Instant. As soon as I tried the first nJoy kit from a local convenience store, I knew that was it. It could be costly though, so I learned you could refill those cartomizers with e-Liquid just fine on day two and the only transition was from being a "smoker" to a "vaper." Meaning I went from that stage where concern 1 is the actual look/feel cigarette replacement complete with an auto-battery to looking for better vapor production and battery life, etc.

I find the morning to be my toughest time where I am really craving a smoke.
Don't we all?

Well, that and the drinking smokes.
If you drink that is.

You'll probably plow right through this milestone shortly.
:)

But if you find yourself having trouble after awhile, try bumping your morning vape up a notch in strength.
That helps a lot of people get over the hump.

Cigarettes are rather costly in Florida. I added up what my wife and I spend per month and had a hard time spending one month to get everything we need, and a few things we just wanted. Next month I have no idea what we're going to do with the extra money but a bunch of it is going for some quality juice.

Thank you for the advice and encouraging words! I haven't had the opportunity with the drinking yet however I am sure that will be my next major hump!

Well they're right at about $10 a pack for me here on Long island. while the nJoy kit at $20 is a great deal for a pretty good eCig kit, though the cost of replacement cartridges is not. $20 for 5 carts, each of which certainly doesn't last the equivalent of a full pack of analogs. Refilling those 5 carts as I do obviously tilts the economical aspect much more in favor of the eCigs. I thought these atomizers were supposed to die, I'm still using the first 2 a month in :O

I'd be interested to see what a brain on nicotine only and not the other components in cigarettes looks like. I wonder how the MAO B inhibiting effect compares. But considering the only people on nicotine have smoked at some point, I suppose there's no way to tell. I know that even though the nicotine fix is the same, the buzz from vaping isn't the same as from cigarettes, it doesn't make one feel as heavy and sickly as cigarettes do, could just be that vapers aren't having their blood oxygen levels decreased as significantly, and are not getting carbon monoxide.

For me, it took a little bit, but primarily due to poor planning...I ran out of e-Juice. Very silly...I was doing quite well. Anyway, after bouncing for a couple months (since Jan 2011), I'm now 3+ weeks without an analog. This forum has helped a ton in keeping my e-Cig producing well for me, and this time, I have a variety of juices, plus two more orders out there to try (from MadVapes and Ms T's Bakery), as well as backup parts - I don't want to chance running out of anything this time!

Almost instantaneously for me as well. I had an almost full pack left when my e-cigs came in the mail. I took both to poker league and alternated throughout the night. By closing time, I was dreading lighting the cigarette. I've never been happy to empty a pack of cigs before. No cravings for cigarettes for 2 weeks, until my unit died. Went back to smoking for a couple weeks while I researched different models.

Once I got a decent model in, I've never looked back.

Pretty immediate for me. I still had cravings for analogs the first week or so, but it wasn't too bad. As long as I vaped like a fog machine, the transition was very smooth... next month will be a year now :)

Glad you found us here at ECF, smells! Congrats on making the switch. If you're anything like most of us here, you'll start to notice all kinds of good things over the next few weeks and months, like like your sense of smell returning. It's lovely.

Bootsand said it best.. I'm in the midst of transitioning between analog and vaping. (Day 3) I can tell you that I have very little craving to use an analog if I'm vaping as consistently as I was smoking. At the same time, the desire of wanting an analog is degrading fairly quickly. For me, it's not been a hard or uncomfortable transition so far.

Hello everyone, i was just dropping you a mail to see how long everyones tansition time took between the 'traditional' smoke and the e-smoke.
It took me about a week to get used to the differnet weight and texture, but once i made the breakthrough it was all good.

How was it for you?

Took me almost two weeks. Began ecig and used tobacco cigs 3X a day. Went to hypnosis which got rid of my tobacco cravings a few times a day. Now, for over two weeks, I am tobacco-free using the ecig only!

I decided that when I started vaping, I would stop analogs. I thought it would be a difficult transition, but found it really wasnt for me. I know others have issues with it, but the biggest thing for me was NOT having any analogs around. By not having them and not buying them, I vaped instead. Been close to a month now and no ill will at all.

I've been vaping over a year and I still smoke 1-2 cigarettes a day, sometimes many more than that. My husband recently decided he was going to completely quit cigarettes and for about a month or so he has only vaped.

Like someone said, I think I'm missing the MAO component. Vaping isn't as satisfying as a cigarette. Sure, it tastes better, smells better, and is very similar. It just doesn't quite hit the spot the same.
