When I started smoking Cigs were $4 a carton. LOL

Yeah, I remember 50 cents a pack at the convenience store, probably $4 or less a carton. That was marl too. I stopped buying them when they went over $30, stopped smoking altogether when taxes exceeded $2 EACH pack. A man's got to know his limitations.

I'm really excited to see people post they are reaching a break even point. For me, vaping, so far, is far, far more expensive than smoking. A rim costs PHP680. I'm at a bit over the 1 month mark with vaping and I've spent slightly over USD1500. Granted, a decent piece of that was in shipping costs, but I've spent about USD700 at Healthcabin alone, lol.

Of course, my goal is to try everything and I have no budget. Turning this into a new hobby is a key piece of the "quit smoking" puzzle for me and, if someone came up to me and said, "give me P1million and I will guarantee to have you quit smoking in a day". I would've gone to the bank and handed over the cash to that person on the spot. So, in those terms, I'm way under budget. :)

The heavier you smoked before you switched, the easier it is to come out ahead on the finance sheet.

If you smoke a pack a month, or if you only smoke every now and then when you go out drinking, then it's very hard to justify financially. The up front costs take a long time to pay off if you're only "saving" $5 a month by switching.

If you smoke a pack a day, it's easier to justify. 2 packs a day, easier yet.

I smoked 3+ packs per day, until 3 weeks ago. My estimates are that I break even in 2 more weeks, which will be 5 weeks after I started.

My break even would have come sooner if I'd actually quit smoking right away. I've been moving over fairly slowly, but it's been going well. Only 4 cigs yesterday, none so far today. Until a few days ago, I'd cut down from 3 ppd to 1 or 1.5 ppd.

Last fall, I made an excel program to calculate how much I actually spent on Ecigs vs analogs. Its not anything fancy as I created it for myself and my wife to use. Please feel free to use it as you like. If you don't have microsoft Excel I think you can open up the file in google docs but I haven't tried it so I can't promise it will work.

Because I order all of my E-cig stuff online it was easy to find the old receipts and calculate how much I spent.

I colored the boxes purple for where you enter your data. Hope this helps.

I don't watch what I spend I just but what I want life is too short... I feel better and its only been 2mos for me. I have the support of my family so they also buy supplies to make sure I dont go back to cigs.. By the end of the year I may be out over 3 grand but right now I enough supplies to go the next 2 years without buying another thing. DIY is the way I went and have about 2000ml of 100mg/ml and all the flavors to mix at home... I vape at 18mg/ml so if you do the math I think I'm set for a while.. The new mod that come out are what will take the rest of my funds.. Happy vaping...

I know I've saved a ton of money -- even despite spending nearly $600 last month on stuff. A pack of smokes here is $10, $80 a carton. At a pack a day that's about $300 a month. My monthly average -- when I'm not stocking up because of sales and such -- is only about $50-100 depending on who I order from and what I order, so I'm still way ahead of the game.

right now im probably spending as much as i did when i smoked. if i stoped buying new juices and other things i want to try i could easily be saving money though. i have enough juice to last me a year right now but im sure ill be buying more soon. right now there are still to many things i want to try and a few PVs i want to buy. after those things are aquired i should be set to start saving. where i live cigs are around $5 a pack and my wife and I both smoked a pack a day. as long as im spending around that much or less on vaping im happy. its also much more enjoyable to spend that money on new juice we want to try, a new carto or tank, or even a new PV than it was buying a pack a cigs everyday.

As a Noob I started out with an initial investment of $180 for my kit extra atties and juice. I went all out on juice $80 because I did not want to run out and head back down the analog highway to hell. So I broke it down to see if I would really save money in the long run. This is what i came up with:

Analogs: $3 a pack (When I am in central America) 1 pack a day = $90 a month (Not taking into account the extra pack when I would go to a party or drink)

E-Cigs: 50 ml juice (DK Menthol) $11.99 2 mls a day a bottle should last me 25 days.

That is quite a difference in the long run, now I have been Analog free 21 days I figure I have saved nothing so far but I am on my way to doing so.

Now here is the kick in the pants: I am l now looking into the more expensive mods for that great flavor and throat hit. I figure my next investment will be in the $150 - $200 range. Now this is just me but I think it was really well said that "What I am saving is my health" says it all for me!!

One of these days, I'm going to get around to putting all my orders onto a spreadsheet so I'll know just how much I've spent/saved by vaping.

Suffice it to say that I was spending upwards of $100 a week to smoke, and I'm closing in on the 90-day mark of not buying anything because my finances tanked and I had, without realizing it, created a large enough stash of juice to get me through.

I've spent a ridiculous amount of money on vaping and probably will spend a load more!

So many juice flavours! So many new devices and delivery methods to try them out on!

I don't care though. I have fun doing this. I genuinely enjoy vaping and knowing I'm not stuck to a brand of tobacco sticks which would kill me in the end. For that freedom and level of choice no price is too high IMO.

even if I bought a 10 ml bottle of juice a day I would still be spending less weekly than I did on analogs.
i second this. I am pretty surprised to hear so many people are spending the same or more on vaping! I thought it would be mostly people saying how much they've saved. Then again now that I've started I can see how buying new devices can be addicting but I'm hoping once I get my Ego tomorrow I won't need anything else except atty's cartos and juice. Maybe some months down the road I'll get a bottom feeder or something but I was paying $6 a pack and smoking two packs a day. I could buy two top of the line mods a month with that! I still haven't figured out how much juice I'm going to need every month but I can't imagine it will be more than $50 unless I'm going crazy trying new flavors. Now that I've tried Bounty Hunter and RY4 I'm good to go! I'll prob buy a sample bottle of something new every once in awhile. Now that I'm vaping it's like I got a huge raise!

I hope I don't have to eat my words a few months from now. Watch me go nuts and blow my paycheck on juice :)

I typically spend 325$ ish on analogs. My main goal in quitting was that my lungs felt like pewp, i didnt want my kid around smoke and I wanted to pocket that 325$ in smokes so i can make my car payment on my new dodge challenger lol. So far this month I am over my analog budget. I have bought an overpriced smoke shop kr808d1 set 65$ (which my family is fighting over who gets dibs on it) a joye 510t kit and finally my favorite- 2 kgo sets with a shcrapton of dual coils. I would say that I have spent 150$ on liquids and have finally found some favorites.
My estimation for next month is 50$ for 2 people and that will go mostly to larger bottles of my fav liquids. That said I still have 2 weeks to go with no spending to make up the rest of this month lol

HONESTLY I dind't NEED the mods I bought this weekend. I bought a Reo Mini to to keep my Old Goat company, and a Chuck for my other half whom is still smoking. But I've saved quite a bit of money honestly. I think since March, I've bought 4 starter kits (2 eGo and 2Echo-e) one for me, one for daughter, one for mom, one for friend. 2 Old Goats and not even THAT much juice. I'm in Washington so at about 120 a week for me and the sig other to smoke, well I'm probably still ahead.
