"In the wild".... hahaha! (I really LOVE that phrase!) Makes me feel like some kind of lioness on the hunt, or something...:)

I've only been vaping less than 4 months here in FL, have yet to see another vaper in public. Except for our Florida Vaper's Club monthly meets of course. I would love to know what the national percentage of vapers is. As compared to the 13%- 14% I believe I read was the percentage of nationwide cigarette smokers. Probably nobody even knows since we are still sort of underground and no formal surveys.

I'm pretty blatant with my vaping out in public... I try to sit near the smokers because almost always generates a lot of curiousity. And keep a small stack of vendor business cards in my purse, to hand out. I'd love to keep a supply of disposable e-cigs to be able to hand out, too. But that's just too pricey $$$ :(

How does one start a vapors club meeting/support group. I've never done anything like this before. How do you get people to come, how to advertise, would people have to pay, do you have to elect "officers" and lastly, what do you do at these meetings ? Is it an organized agenda or everyone just talks about different things. Please help.

I would start with your location specific thread....Michigan Vapers
There have been a few vape meets in my state and they mostly began with our local thread. If there are brick and mortar vendors in your area you might ask them about the possibility of setting one up. Our local vendors have been very helpful in that regard.

My sister ran into another vaper at a bar, using some sort of VV unit that she tried to describe to me. It sounded like a lavatube with a glass-blown drip tip. He made fun of the 78mm Volt I gave her. I don't know exactly what he said, but she's embarrassed to use hers in public now.

I saw a waitress using one at a Chicago Connection (pizza place) and drove past a sign saying "Craving sweets? Try an E-Cig! We have great flavors!" or something along those lines. Turns out we have two stores dedicated to PVs here, as well as several tobacco shops that carry cheap disposables.

I checked out the nearest store, but it turns out they only sell 510 equipment. They didn't even have adapters. You'd think a store dedicated purely to vaping, without any apparent brand loyalty (they had stuff from various vendors), would be smart enough to offer a wider selection.

I met a vaper in "the wild!" :rickroll:

I took my dog in to the vet for her annual check-up, and it turns out the vet asst. was a vaper, too! She started vaping when her bf came down with Lymphoma, but she fell off the wagon after awhile. Her bf bought her a better kit and she has been vaping ever since. :vapor:

Not only that, but I opened up the Vet's eyes a bit on vaping as well. The vet asst. has been trying to get the Vet to start vaping, and he expressed the concern that it wasn't healthy to constantly take in a high amount of nic. I told him you could decrease your nic level. He kinda lifted his eyebrow and said, "Oh, really!" :D

Aside from my one and only convert (my boyfriend), I have seen one person.

At my last job, she was vaping outside in the smoker's section. It was a mini of some kind, maybe a disposable. Not sure. It was at least the length of a 100, an automatic, and looked exactly like a cigarette.

Coworker at that job also used to vape as well. Never saw her do it though.

And funny that, I met my boyfriend at that last job, and he was still working there when I converted him!

Other than that, not a soul, though I would love to stumble across some stranger "in the wild."

Many vapers don't openly vape in public because they
don't want to run the risk of drawing negative attention
to themselves.

Hopefully there will be a day when they will "come out"
and join the rest of us who aren't so apprehensive
:)

HINT: You don't have to respond to idiots
Just ignore them.

When I first started to openly vape in public
I thought there would be negative reactions.
Never happened ... just a few odd looks.
Of course, I don't stare at non-smokers trying
to engage in conversations !!!!!

PS: No I don't go outside and stand in smoking areas
to vape. I don't smoke and flat refuse to reinforce
the myth that vaping is smoking

I've had vapers walk up to me and say it's nice
to see a fellow vaper. Yeah, well that only happened
because I was vaping in public (as if that's some kind of big deal)

What our movement really needs today ...
is for all of us to openly vape in public.

I couldn't agree more. My experience parallels yours. A few odd looks. Some curious questions but, never a negative reaction. On the contrary, for the most part, non-smokers seem to be the most curious and they think it's really cool once they understand it. Smokers have their doubts but, want to know whether it works and what it costs. Former smokers seem to feel you're cheating but, they aren't offended.

I have yet to see another vaper in public. Someday though...

I'm in Minneapolis Minnesota, aside from the mall kiosk guys I've only seen one other person and he was using a mini in a bar. I don't generally vape in public buildings aside from bars but I do get strange looks when I whip out my Lavatube and proceed to produce huge clouds of vapor. On several occasions smokers have told me that they tried ecigarettes in the past without success and had no idea there were bigger and better options available and this is exactly why we need to vape proudly and openly. Although gas station ecigs put me on the path to quit, many smokers make a judgment based on their experience with low end gas station crap without any further research.
