How many would like lighter draw, more airflow for VK batteries?

Would you like a lighter draw, a heavier draw, both, or just keep it the same?

  • I would like a lighter draw than the current batteries.

  • I would like a harder draw than the current batteries.

  • I think the current draw is perfect.

  • I would like to have both options available.

I use auto batteries only.

I have several long autos and a short one.

The short one is my favorite because the draw is easy. In fact, it's perfect. The long ones -- at first I thought they might not be working right, the difference is that great.

All re-orders will be for short batteries.

Thanks Pawpaw

For some of you who are having trouble with too tight of a draw on your batteries, try cleaning out the little air holes under the threads.

Sometimes even a brand new battery will have clogged holes. Use a needle or pin (push pin works great) to clear those holes.

In my research I missed you can clean batteries. I found the cleaning batteries clip, did that to my manual batteries and they are a lot better

I know the lighter draw takes some getting used to but I get way more vapor with a lighter draw.

I am still using one of my original batteries bought in April with a lighter draw, and totally enjoy the lighter draw.....lots of vapor and good performance with the carts.

Not to say I don't enjoy the newer batteries, but they did take some getting used to in drawing harder.

Those are exactly the reasons we want the lighter draw and greater airflow.

OK, my doubts are resolved. It looks like we're on the right track. Thanks everyone!

Not sure if this is even possible, but from my experiences with varying "cloggedness" of cartos, perhaps it would be beneficial to create some sort of an adjustable valve for some variable airflow?

I usually bounce around from PT to XL to XL manual to shorty until I find the right mix for a particular carto that has hard draw issues.

I voted for lighter, but reconsidering and after reading the whole thread, I think both options: the tighter draw would probably be a better bet for new vapers, as it is closer to analogs, and the lighter draw for the more established vapers.

Also, considering the forum as a whole, which I try to keep track of, there are many people looking to but who have the draw as one of their top priorities, be it tight or light, and having both options available a) gives them they option regardless of what they want, and b) removes a potential gripe about V4L stuff.

Yeah, I had this as a requested feature on my 'custom mod' submission.

This is a tedious issue to say the least. I started with the original and though they had too much airflow. The air made it take forever to inhale the vapor. It sounded like a plane was taking off in my face. V4L sent a battery with a tighter draw; I enjoyed it much more. As of now, the new batteries with the 10-13 second cutoff have a very nice draw. Almost perfect cigarette... the inconsistency issue lies with the carts...

Some carts have a strong atomizer. They almost exactly replicate a cigarette. These perfect carts are the exception, not the rule. Most carts have a nice draw, and sometimes, I have to put a cart on a few different batteries to see which one it "likes" the best. Therefore, I have a feeling that the atomizers might play a role in the process. Perhaps the atomizer design/power should be analyzed as well to determine the best combination of both. If this has already been done, please forgive...

Well you do bring up some good points. There can be big differences in airflow through the carto. The XL auto batteries I have with just one logo on them are perfect with most of my carto's. But I have a couple of carto's that draw very hard...one after I rinsed it out and the other one is a new blank.

Also I have 2 carto's that don't produce much vapor and they are new. Not sure why because the resistance of the coil on those cart's is close to the others. But if I vape them on my box mod the vapor production is good. All in all I am very happy with the XL auto's just the way they are. I know they will get better.....that's one of the reasons leaford is in China..lol

I've got a V4L branded manual battery that doesn't have a cross slot. Therefore the draw is controlled by the cross-slot on the actual cartomizer. I was pretty surprised by the variation in the depth of the cross slot from cartomizer to cartomizer.. and on that battery, it creates quite a variation in the draw.

Just an observation....

I would love a lighter draw on all the batteries since I inhale directly into my lungs. I've been drilling the holes to make them bigger. That worked great with the reg size batts w/ the slot on the center post. I get way more vapor at a little loss of flavor.

With the 13-sec XL batts, I also drilled out the holes on these batts, but I've found that the draw is not consistent since there's no slot on the center post, the airflow is dependent upon the groove in the cartomizer. And some of the cartomizers have shallower groove than others.

I've also found that in the regular size batts with the slot, if the holes happen to line up with the slot, the draw is easier than if the holes are not inline with the slot.

Anyways, my 2 cents...
