How much did a pack of cigarettes coast when you started and how much when you switched?

I wanna say it was like 35 cents a pack when i started,but it may have been 50 cents.
Waaaay back in 1977/78.
That was up in the NW suburbs of Chicago..
I remember hunting for bottles as a 13 year old kid with my friends to get money for those lung hogs lol

They were about 5.00 a pack where i live now in Tennessee when i stopped smoking..

Also what was the most you ever paid for a pack?
I remember paying 7.00 one time at the vending machine here at work because i left mine at home..that was last year

About $1. I don't know what a single pack costs these days--I was buying cartons at Costco for $47 before tax.

In 1969... a carton of Camel straights, or 10 gallons of 101 octane gas, was $2.99. I recall a Sunoco promotion... if you bought 16 gallons of premium high octane, they threw in a carton Lucky Strikes.

When I started a pack was 19 cents gas was 24.9 cents a gallon. I started to roll my own cigarettes about 6 years ago so my coast per pack when I quit 4 weeks a go ( vaping ) was roughly $1.05 a pack so roughly 2.10 a day.

When I started in the mid 70's it was about .35 - .40 cents a pack. Where I live now... about $5.80 a pack. I've paid more than $12 a pack in NYC about 2 years ago.

Wow did this bring back an old memory

We needed to find 17 beer bottles (penny deposit) along the one mile walk to the little country store to buy a pack. Imagine our elation when we found a coke bottle. (5 cent deposit) I always wondered why beer drinkers got off so cheap.

Now they are somewhere around 6-7 bucks/pack.

Your not going to believe this but when I started smoking cigarettes were 1.25$. I remember it well. I'd count up some loose change and be able to buy a pack with it. Really shows my age ! Lol

55 Cent per pack 1978 I remember well started off Cowboy Red's. In 79 an analog called Bright's came out that had a peppermint taste was same year we had a major blizzard here. Switched to menthol and smoked Newport and Kools up till I quit.

I started smoking in 1982, but I don't remember how much a pack cost then. The earliest price I remember paying was $2.50 a pack. When I quit smoking I was paying $10 a pack.

I think about .50 a pack when I started in 1978. I also remember saying when the prices started going up years later that I would quit if they got to $2.00 a pack, yeah right, 36 years later I was still smoking and paying $5.50-$7.00 depending on the brand.

Yes... I saw £8.40 today. And some people think they have expensive cigarettes.

I bought 1,000 (50 packets?) from a former Eastern block county once for 17p a packet. They were £4.50 in the UK at that time.

In 1972 at a USAF Commisary I paid $1.00 for a carton of Camels. Outside the base they were probably $0.35 per pack. When I quit, I was rolling my own at a cost of a little over $1.00 per pack.

When i started 20 cigs cost £2 now £8 the last 5 years of smoking i used rolling tobacco was £9 a pack 50g now £14,but i got it on the black market for £3 a pack now £8.50,god i dont know how a working class person can afford to smoke leaving aside the health issues

40 to 50 cents a pack by the pack, if I bought a carton I could get them for about 28 to 32 cents a pack.
4.75 to 5.75 a pack depending on brand and discount coupons. I often think about that when I see adds for them in stores now. lol
